  1. Fuwanovel Confessions

Yeah, that's a good idea. I was hoping I could replace MMOs with just standard single player games, but even the best games just don't give me the same spark. I like to be able to compete in things and have a set of goals to go along with my gameplay, and I feel that most single player stuff just doesn't fulfill that role. And I think I still have a ways to go before I can feel like I can compete with people in a real-world setting since my brain isn't capable of it just yet. But I am hoping I can implement some sort of balance between MMOs and single player games since the latter does provide the kind of satisfaction you can only get from completing a game (which is almost impossible to do with MMOs). Right now, my system involves playing MMOs 4 days a week, and single player 3 days a week, and I'm enforcing this with the Cold Turkey app I bought (it's a useful piece of software). There are idle MMOs? I played Kittens Game for a short while and found it very amusing, especially since it wasn't riddled with mtx. Didn't know they had MMOs of them. Yeah, I still have WoW friends added on Facebook, lol. They sometimes nag me to go back, and so far I've managed to stay off. Nice thing about Runescape is some of the most valuable bosses to grind are always available and you don't have to be in a guild to farm the non-solo bosses. If I went back to WoW, I'd likely be tempted to jump into the raid scene again, and that pretty much requires me to play on a schedule (which I don't like the idea of). Granted, I could always just play it for completionist goals or making gold, but I feel Runescape handles those two aspects better. WoW's economy isn't bad, per se, but it's kinda stale due to it not having as many gold dumps or high-risk content (actually doesn't have any high-risk content). But if I can manage my obsession well enough with Runescape, I might switch off to WoW again just to play something different.

Ugh, I got hooked back into MMO gaming again. And as always, my grades dipped, my workload piled up, I'm put on weight again, and general feelings of depression and anxiety were sinking in, too. I was making such good progress too... But see, here's the thing, I don't want to give up on MMO gaming completely since I am enjoying it immensely. Even though there are dangerously addicting elements to these games, I still enjoy the community aspect of them, and getting to raid with others is so refreshing. But I really need to manage my addiction better and stop falling back on my real-world obligations. Now, while I'd definitely taken a solid beating from this experience, I did at least gain something out of it. After reaching peak insanity just this morning, I finally made up my mind to look at a book summary from the Blinkist site I paid $72 to access (which I actually don't regret) to find some answers, and amazingly enough I was able to find something pertinent. The summary was for a book titled "Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity" by David Allen. His strategy is quite advanced, but I do feel a great boost of confidence from it. The book goes into detail on how to optimize your productivity through basic project management. He lays out all the techniques needed to manage personal projects effectively and explains all of his ideas with great depth and clarity. I came out of this summary with half a page of notes, and I even experienced an immediate boost in concentration. And, most importantly, I managed to find an anti-addiction strategy for MMOs that I can be confident in. I don't feel I've perfected my coping technique just yet, but I do at least have a foundation for it at the moment, and I don't think I'll be relapsing anytime soon so I should have plenty of time to establish it (I still need to do a bit more research on the matter). If anyone's interested, PM me for a copy/paste of the book summary. I'd like to keep it to PMs so I don't have to worry about any copyright nonsense.
  3. youtube - Most random

Little late here, but, uh, would you mind telling me what anime this is? I've kinda fallen back on my JP studies and I can't figure out the title from this video.
  4. Spring 2019 Anime Discussion

Not a bad start of the season so far. Fruits Basket is doing wonderfully so far, and I'll be looking forward to seeing the rest. A good bit of nostalgia here. Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san was surprisingly refreshing. It's nothing groundbreaking or anything, but the atmosphere is lighthearted, fluffy, and sweet. If you're any bit into moe stuff, you can't go wrong with this. That and you won't find very many anime featuring a centuries old nojya loli. I am interested in Gunjou no Magmel, but there aren't any good subs for this at all. >.<
  5. Post pics you like (Powered by Jun Inoue™)

This guy did what was absolutely necessary, and I love him for it.
  6. Dracu-Riot

Maybe it's to improve the product quality?
  7. Fuwanovel Confessions

Have you been gone for a while? In case you missed it, CoC now contributes to post count. I don't like it either, but it is what it is.
  8. New When They Cry game preview

I will give him this, he does have a knack for drawing unique and genuine facial expressions. And yeah, maybe I am being a little hard on him in regards to the fists. That said, I don't think it'd be impossible to find a talented artist who can faithfully adapt his designs while improving the quality to a more professional standard (especially given his popularity). However, if I had to choose between a good story with bad art and a bad story with good art, I'd take the former every time.
  9. Humble Hot Date Bundle

Do you still have the key for Highway Blossoms?
  10. What will you do if you become your waifu?

I'm pretty sure these are the types of questions hentai artists ask themselves when writing body switch scenarios. I suppose I'll run with the same answer 70% of everyone else is coming up with, lol. Shite, I'll even throw in a couple vibrators and nipple rings.
  11. Birthday thread

Ah, I missed it yesterday. Happy belated, @ittaku!
  12. Feeling Uneasy near human

I see what you're trying to get at, but I don't think it's healthy or productive to blame your problems on society. Now don't get me wrong, I am well aware that humanity sucks and there will be times where your success is severely hindered by the people around you, but that doesn't mean you're completely devoid of options. Keep a level head, plan things out, and take action. Invest whatever resources you have (time, money, information, observations, etc) at your disposal towards self improvement, and stay focused. And yeah, I think you should definitely consider Stormwolf's advice. As someone who's been getting anxiety treatment for 2-3 years, I can vouch for its effectiveness.
  13. What Anime are you watching now?

Going off my own experience and what I've heard from friends, I think it mostly boils down to expectations. I had the misfortune of going in when the anime first started airing, and it was my greatest pre-season anticipation at the time due to the staff having worked on TTGL. It's been a while since I last watched it, so I can't really recall what it was that put me off, but I remember there being a few annoying quirks that put me in a sour mood. But who knows, maybe I was being a little harsh at the time. Thinking back, it did have a few standout elements that got me hooked early on, so maybe I'll give it another go eventually. It might help if I judge it by its own merits rather than expecting a TTGL v2.
  14. Looking for some tear jerkers to read

Huh, this kinda brings me back to when I finished reading my first VN, Little Busters. While I was active on the Anime Sharing forum, I'd asked one of the prominent VN enthusiasts there for recommendations after breaking into the medium through Key. And that's pretty much how I've come to discover Hoshizora no Memoria. So yeah, give it a try. It does get very emotional in the true route, and it has more romance than most Key stories, too.
  15. Some thoughts: A few Months later

Yeah, don't let yourself fall into an even greater state of madness! I don't think humanity needs something like that. Ya know, I also used to have a thing going on that I felt obligated to carry out. Please don't ask me what it is; it was such a horrible time sink and I still regret having ever done it at all. But man, it was so liberating when I finally gave it up and freed up more time to spend enjoying the things I want to do.
  16. Thoughts on Route length?

Yeah, I'm all for the flexibility option. As long is the story does what it sets out to do, I could give two shits about the length. Having to set a limitation like that takes away from freedom of expression and hinders the quality (kinda like what happened with Death Note).
  17. Birthday thread

@Clephas, congratulations on another year of skillful death evasion!
  18. Death Mark get PC release

Ooh, hello. I guess that managed to slip under my radar since I don't pay much attention to console games (or anything outside this forum, really), but I'm interested now. Not enough horror VNs translated to English if you ask me.
  19. Immediately Satisfying Anime (for teens)

She was able to sit through It in theaters (I am so proud of her), I think she can handle horror.
  20. Great news, everybody! After years of failed attempts at convincing someone in my family to try it, my sister is finally watching anime. What truly surprised me is that she's watching it with subtitles too, which should make recommendations a lot easier. Anyways, the anime she started out with is Death Parade. She is apparently enjoying the game aspect of the anime, but I'm not sure if there are any others that I could safely recommend since something like NGNL would run the risk of her never talking to me, lol. I brought up Angel Beats after glancing over the recommendations on MAL, and she seemed to be somewhat interested, so I think it's alright to stray from the genre a little bit as long as it's at least somewhat exciting. One thing she made very clear is that it has to be enjoyable from the first episode. Other than AB (and probably Death Note too), I'm not too sure what else would fit the bill. Most of my favorites are ones that usually need at least a few episodes of buildup. It's been a while since I watched it, and I'm not sure if it qualifies or not, but would Code Geass work at all?
  21. Fuwanovel Confessions

It's almost like we've been trained to derail stuff!
  22. Eh, I'm actually kinda jealous even though I didn't like Grisaia that much. That is a damn nice box set! Shame it has to be locked behind KS like everything else these days. Wish I could just buy this stuff outright without having to wait forever and a half for a KS purchase to come in. But hey, I guess this is what we get for having a super niche hobby.
  23. What Anime are you watching now?

Actually, now that I think about it, Goku also wasn't terribly popular with the people of Earth, either, as is showcased in his fight against Kid Buu. In the end, he had to rely on Hercule in order to get the energy he needed to win the fight. Yeah, I think you've got a better interpretation of the public opinion aspect than I do. One other detail I picked up from SEW's video (at 23:35) is that the author might actually have a real connection to the protagonist due to how his art might have been received (before Murata started drawing it, that is). Yeah, I don't disagree with you here. OPM isn't a shallow anime, but it's not the most thought-provoking either. The reason I cherish this anime as much as I do is that it hits all the right cords with me.
