  1. Tasogare no Folclore is a story about a predatory ojousama and her favorite prey, the protagonist (this relationship is literally like this), and it is a game about twisted nature, interdependent relationships, and uncontrollable urges.  I recommend it for people who like the Far Side paths in Tsukihime.

Dead Days tries to pass itself off as high-end psychological horror, but in the end, it all feels forced and pathetic.  It is based several years after Ookami.

  2. Waka-sama no Zasuru Sekai is a mythology fantasy story by Minato-soft's subsidiary that is based in the same general area as Tsujidou.  However, the atmosphere is less romantic and more eerie/dark.  The story in general, while hiding behind typical Minato Soft style humor, is grimmer than is common to this company.

I'll be frank, I only managed one ending of Missing X-link, though this was not because it wasn't good... it was because my favorite heroine was early on the ladder, and I threw a fit when her ending was a short and boring one.

Kanzume Shoujo no Shuumatsu Sekai is a seriously weird game that kinda feels like the Seasons series by Smee (Harumade Kururu, etc).

  3. I got about a third of the way through Alpha-nighthawk before I dropped it.  Simply put, it has all of Liar-soft's bad habits with none of the good.

Love Commu is a nukige masquerading as a charage.  Unfortunately, it isn't as good as some of the similar games like Erect.

I got through one path of Pieces before dropping it out of boredom.  At this point, I was already out of the VN of the Month thing, so I had no reason to force myself to play something I felt was boring.

Realive... it feels like yesterday that I played this.  It is basically just another high-end nakige by Purple Soft (which is in itself a huge endorsement, lol), but it is worthy of noting that it is highly influenced by Hapymaher, to the point where the similarities frequently distracted me during my playthrough.

  4. Spiral is a prequel to the events of Shuffle 2, following an agent of the gods' realm who infiltrates a xenophobic human-only school to see if the ideology there is a threat to the upcoming foreign transfer student princess.  Quality-wise, it has some problems... primarily because it feels nothing like something from the Shuffle series for the most part (all human heroines is a bad look for the series).

Kin'iro Loveriche's fandisc is one of the better ones out there, especially due to the addition of the Ayaka path, which is pure comedy gold.  For those who didn't like how the original Ria path ended, there is an alternate path in this game to satisfy people who don't like that much bitter with their sweet.

  5. Sorry, but I have to disagree with Kvan.  Sakura, Moyu is by far the better of the two VNs worth playing above.  If there is one game by Favorite any nakige lover should play, it is Sakura, Moyu.

Sorceress Alive is what I like to call a 'chuunige-lite'.  The battle narration is poor quality (though not nonexistent like in Raillore) and the protagonist is pathetic for much of the game.  Moreover, there was way too much wavering between making the game a harem-because-everyone-is-happy-that-way and a true plotge depending on what point in the game you were at.  In all honesty, given the writers involved, I would have expected a bit higher quality prose, given that they had part of the team from Shugotate and the writer from several of Lass's chuunige and plotge involved.  I gave the game a decent rating for the story of Alive, but presenting it as a masterpiece is going overboard.

  6. Deatte 5fun is a decent charage with an actual plot, but it has pacing issues and characterization issues that made me put it below the VN of the Month level.

From my understanding, Deep One is an incomplete game, which was the reason I didn't play it.  Until a sequel/second part comes out, I won't be touching this game, though it is sitting in a cardboard box here at home.

  7. This was a good and eventful month... we are also getting close to when I ended VN of the Month for the sake of my sanity, lol.

Riddle Jokers is one of the weaker games by Yuzu Soft, despite being plot-focused.

Unjou no Fairy Tale is another fantasy based in the same world as Sora no Tsukurikata, with the daughter of the protagonist from the first game being one of the heroines.  It is a pretty good game, but it is somewhat tarnished by the continued use of the ladder style story structure.

AI Love is a nice SOL eroge with a nice set of AI heroines.

Butterfly Seeker is a story in a similar vein to Sakura no Mori Dreamers, save that the protagonist has the ability to read events from the objects owned by killers and victims... and he lives in a town where serial killers are as common as popcorn.

Karigurashi Ren'ai is a decent charage... like hundreds of others I played over the years, lol.

  8. Shogun-sama combines Alcot's 'Magical artifact' universe (Onigokko) with time travel in this game, and the result is generally amusing and enjoyable.

Shoujo to Toshi no sa is actually a sweet little semi-incest romance between two people of greatly separated ages.  Despite what you might think, there are no elements of the protagonist taking advantage of the girl, and it is more of a 'growing closer due to loneliness' sort of situation.

Sora no Baroque is the game that shouldn't have existed... or rather, existed as it is.  This game is more in Clock Up's style than that of Light, with an excessive amount of guro and even some nasty rape scenes.  Moreover, the best combat scene in the entire game... doesn't involve the protagonist and friends at all, lol.

Yorite Konoha wa Kurenai ni is an LoS game based in a world very similar to the Tayutama setting (given the Tayutama time scale, it is possible that this is the same world, centuries apart).  It is a high-quality charage with some nakige qualities.

  9. Kin'iro Loveriche is a top-quality game, as anyone who has played it can attest to.  Its only real slip-ups were having Akane as a heroine instead of a side-character and no Ayaka path (remedied in the fandisc, but still).

Miburo is an excellent game by Inre, based in the Bakumatsu era from the point of view of the Shinsengumi.  I would say it is more true to history than Last Cavalier (if you ignored the steampunk), but it is also less detailed about the post-Kyoto elements.  My biggest complaint about this game is that it uses ladder-style story structure, which I always complain about, lol.

  10. Yami to Hikari no Sanctuary is part mystery, part fantasy, and part romance.  The protagonist is a seemingly normal young man (albeit a country boy) who goes along with his childhood friend to an island school for those who have a talent, an influential family, or who otherwise have the potential to have an effect on the world outside themselves.  Despite his apparent normalcy, the protagonist is actually the most abnormal person in the game, as he was trained from birth (literally) for the purpose of killing the inhuman with his bare hands.  As the writer describes it, to him, the act of taking a life is just normal, nothing to get emotional or excited about.

    Baldr Bringer is an abomination.

Junjou Karen Freaks is a nice non-human heroine charage of moderate quality.

Venus Blood Brave is something of a fusion, as it utilizes the 'monster birth' mechanic, but instead of providing units, it provides power to the fighting units (the heroines).  The game is a linear dungeon-crawler with a solid cast of characters, and it is also the prequel to Hypno (albeit by so much time that it is meaningless to contemplate).

Kanojo wa Tenshi de Imouto de is a borderline nakige/utsuge that is based in the same setting as Satsukoi.  The protagonist is a young man who was contemplating suicide until he was given the chance to train to become an angel.  He lives with the current Archangel, who is posing as his little sister.  While it is a frequently amusing game, it is a story that is primarily about feels and catharsis.

  11. Blade X Bullet is one of the best games in the Soleil series by Skyfish, though it is significantly more straightforward in its darkness (ALL the main players are either Lawful Evil or Chaotic Evil by nature) than the rest of the series.  The main character of the game is the latest incarnation of Loki, who was condemned after Ragnarok to forever wander as a mortal warrior, appearing only in the worst of worst of situations and losing anything he values in the process.  It is based in a world where the old gods, made into the cogs and gears that ran the world behind the scenes, become basically undead monsters wreaking havoc across the world.  Typical of most Soleil games, people then make artificial Valkyries to fight them... but are too late to prevent the annihilation of civilization.  Heimdall (supposedly THAT Heimdall) then invites the surviving Valkyries and their masters to his castle, to decide the future of the world.

  12. Yuganda Uso is a seriously weird game.  While it is heavy on the sex, it also has a strong plot element, so I hesitate to call it a nukige.  The big thing about this game is how twisted the characters - in particular the protagonist - are.

Haze Man... think weird Power Rangers type superhero protagonist without the overdone villains to make him look cool, lol.  It's a decently fun game, but it isn't really worth writing home about.

Omokage Railback is a decent game that could have been great if they hadn't made the protagonist into a non-entity.

Sakura Hitohira Koi Moyou is yet another trashy charage that isn't really worth paying any attention to.

Oni ga Kuru is the spiritual successor to the 13cm Oni Uta, though it only shares an artist.  It has the same concepts, the same type of characters, and a nearly identical atmosphere.  If you like semi-tragic incest stories with clingy sisters who don't understand common sense and oni heroines who equally don't understand it, then you'll like this game.

  13. Amayui Castle Meister is one of the middle-of-the-road quality Eushully games.  It isn't trash like Sankai Ou but it isn't on the higher end where Madou Koukaku or Fuukan no Grasesta sits.  It is one of the Meister games, so it does have some alchemy elements and shares the same battle system as Kamidori.

Ojousama no Hanbun wa Ren'ai de Dekiteimasu is a game I recently gave a review on why it is underrated and why it picks its audience, so I'll refrain from repeating myself.

Hanidebi is another kusoge by Eufonie... I don't understand why they bothered after they botched Koiken.

Newton was the first game by Laplacian that was actually worth playing.  That is not to say it is an 'awesome' game, but it is of decent quality, though even I think that is faint praise, lol.
