  1. Very much so... But still has fanservice. After all, it was made for weebs by a Japanese company, how could it not have fanservice? EDIT: It's mild BTW and literally just a few CGs in the whole thing, but still, not something you want to show to kids in a Western school. :>
  2. It's actually a very decent tourist guide to Tokyo + a few other touristy areas in Japan, but the ecchi elements make it quite a questionable choice for educational material. Plus it's rather long, I think it has 10+ hours of content in the latest version. ------ And I find it rather amusing that SonoHana: Yuririn is one of the top games in that educational tag Palas mentioned. A yuri game that teaches girls about diet? That sounds wrong on so many levels...
  3. Looks nice, you do have a grammar error in the 4th screenshot on that Steam page though (I think he was meant to look melancholic).
  4. I don't think I have very specific preferences, so I can enjoy everything that's appropriately high quality, but the titles that resonated with me the most were more serious romances, with some heavy drama. The specific genre and convention is less important, if it has convincing love drama and a satisfying conclusion, I'll probably like it a lot.
  5. Happy Birthday to @Thatcomicguy! What a birthday streak we have around here.
  6. Hey, it's not nice to question people's noodle fetishes like that.
  7. If you don't like Canada you can always give me your spot and take mine in Poland. ------------ Anyways, welcome to Fuwa! It's interesting that hate towards MoeNovel has brought someone to our beautiful little community. A Sky Full of Stars is one of their least butchered releases - hopefully they'll die sooner or later, players are quite wary of them at this point. I would recommend you Katawa Shoujo, Cupid, Lucid9 and One Thousand Lies - all those have a very nice feature of being both good and free.
  8. Well, that makes you pretty normal around here, there's not many reasons for actual Japanese people to hang out around us weebs. :> Anyways, welcome to Fuwa, I hope we'll be able to coerce you into watching anime and becoming a fully-fledged weaboo. If not, I guess you're still allowed to have fun around here, you filthy heretic.
  9. Nah, I just wanted to help someone with marketing their game and wondered what the VN blogosphere looks like nowadays. It didn't work out anyways, so my dedication to the yuri path if righteousness is stronger than ever. To make it clear, I'll spend next few hours browsing the Wholesome Yuri subreddit, until I fall into yuri-filled dreams. ...damn, I'm gross.
  10. Hello there you disgusting perv... I mean, lovely people of Fuwa! As you probably know, I'm very much a fan of yuri and I've noticed that this particular niche have a really strong blogging community. VNs using this theme can usually rely on sites such as The Yuri Nation for promotion. I couldn't, however, identify many significant sites covering other types of VNs, especially non-erotic ones. Also, some blogs I do know about, such as Meru's and Sanahtlig's aren't very active. Are there any blogs, websites or (not fully LP-oriented) YouTube channels that you could recommend that deal with a broader spectrum of VNs or a niche different than yuri?
  11. All best wishes to @Infernoplex, whose nick apparently isn't "Infoplex" even though that's how I always read it.
  12. Zeiva Inc., the dev behind it, is actually the author of X-Note and Area-X, highly regarded western otomege and the game iself isn't that obscure. Just FYI. And I agree, quite a sweet little title, played it a long time ago but have some fond memories of it.
  13. It's one of the worst series I've ever seen, I'm watching it purely out of curiosity. Both the characters and the story are unbearably flat and cliched, the pacing is pretty bad with a lot of tedious exposition and slow story progression. And the plot armor protecting pretty much everyone, good or bad, from getting seriously harmed kills any kind of suspense could've had otherwise. Pure trash (although not everyone agrees with me on that).
  14. I've finally caught up to the latest episode of Darling in the Franxx and damn, that series is intense. I'm not sure if I fully like the direction it went to after the 14th episode and the culmination of the "Zero Two vs the squad" drama, but it's still basically all I ever want from a sci-fi anime - it's dark, imaginative, reasonably surprising, emotionally engaging... Plus 02 is basically a perfect non-cute anime waifu. I don't even know how to describe this aspect of the show, as it both feels like a giant sexual innuendo and doesn't really delve into petty fanservice or get's vulgar in other ways like a real ecchi series would. It perfected walking this thin line where sexual themes are present in some ways but don't feel forced and don't take you out of the experience, at least after you get used to the peculiarities of the setting. Now I just hope they won't sacrifice 02 to save humanity or something like that. I would really hate that. :s ---- Oh, BTW, it seems a character without an obvious death flag actually died in Toji no Miko! I half-expect some absurd resurrection happening soon, but maybe they'll actually make all that sword-swinging meaningful for once. Although, I pretty much hate all the plot development that led to the said death, so it's not that I seriously care what they'll do now.
  15. I would argue that even fanservice is susceptible to diminishing returns when it jumps at you at every turn... Maybe unless you play the game in short bursts, without ever letting its barrage of samey-looking boobs and porn scenes to become tedious. In that case, it probably has an exceptionally high fap/dollar ratio. For me personally, even if I ever looked for fap material in VNs, Wanaca's art wouldn't be my first choice. ;p
  16. Warning: This is review is based on the Steam version of the game, without the 18+ content unlocked. The free uncensored patch unlocks two dozens of CG, including straight-up hentai scenes and adds more nudity to the "clothing damage" system. The "clean" version, however, is still very heavy on sexual themes and can be considered "complete" when it goes to the story. Among the dedicated fans of visual novels the infamous Sakura games by Winged Cloud are one of the most despised and ridiculed elements of the Western VN market. But, as much as we might not like it, it is also a very popular and in many ways seriously influential series, one that played an important role in popularization of visual novels in the West (and, most likely, did a lot to cement the very poor perception of the genre in the PC gaming community). After the surprising success of Sakura Spirit in mid-2014, with its viral spread all over the Internet and nearly 500k copies sold on Steam, Sakura franchise spawned a huge number of titles – mostly very lazy, relatively short VNs filled with tons of fanservice, uninspired writing and poorly-executed popcultural references. At the same time, the company behind it became unquestionably successful, with decent sale numbers throughout the years and a thriving base of Patreon supporters. The ecchi formula established by Winged Cloud, throwing nudity and mild sexual themes at the player at every possibility while never going into actual pornography, proved once again that in the VN world “sex sells”, even without actual sex or any other merits that the game could offer outside of pleasant visuals. A bit later, the company expanded into the world of actual eroge, adding hentai scenes to their brand of trashy, shallow VNs with paper-thin plots and stylisation. There were, however, two times when Sakura series tried to offer a little bit more than that. The first one was Sakura Fantasy, a yuri VN in which obvious effort at crafting a better story and giving slightly more meaning to the sexual content was appreciated by the players – however, what was meant to be an episodic game, forever stopped at the first chapter. Maybe the production costs associated with actually giving a f*** proved too high? At this point, no one truly knows. The second attempt at innovation on Winged Cloud’s part produced probably the most interesting (and definitely highest-rated) game in the series – the yuri-themed VN/dungeon crawler hybrid called Sakura Dungeon, that I will be taking a closer look on today. 17. True, true, I think the way Project Pastorate guys handled their marketing around here is a good example, they didn't have to tell anyone their project is different, just the general tone of their presentations and assets they've shown all established a very unique, dark climate. There's no need to point your finger towards any other work, just saying that you're making a "Non-romantic, low fantasy tale about X & Y" can tell your potential readers a lot about how far it is detached from the usual waifu games.
  18. 1. Being different when it goes to tone and story isn't a bad thing, market it through the fact you're doing something unique and far-detached from typical anime cliches. 2. From the fact you said you don't like being described as a furry artist I guess you don't have that much reach within that community? I would still market the game on furry-related sites, there's a few successful VNs within the furry formula - those are rather too hermetic for other audiences, but there's no reason your project can't work for both. 3. Activity in places such as the Visual Novels subreddit or Lemmasoft forums can do a lot to highten your profile among VN fans, if you market your game right. 4. When/if you get on Steam, reaching out to curators or sending review copies to blogs can help you not get buried under the tons of shovelware that gets released every day.
  19. Thank you everyone, you make me much less sad about how old I already am! This time since I came here was turbulent AF for me RL but I really enjoyed myself on Fuwa a lot, I hope that when I cross an even more depressing threshold next year I'll be able to relax on the forums just the same. ;p
  20. Welcome to Fuwa! A pretty strong introduction, with that Eromanga Sensei confession. I hope you'll have fun around here and we'll be able to help you explore our beautiful niche of trashy, perverted porn and neverending Slice-of-Life fluff.
  21. Hello there, outsider! You're a furry artist then? The VN project is also in the same convention? Anyways, whatever questions or problems you might have, I'm sure you'll find some advice around here.
  22. Welcome to Fuwa! You can always tell something about you favorite VNs and genres you like, that's a good start.
  23. I can still offer the same recommendation - people usually don't do things without a reason and the fact this whole thing bothers you means you're not a psychopath who just ignores other's feelings and crushes them without a slight bit of regret when they inconvenience you. Therapist's job is primarily to help you understand your own feelings, in my case it let me understand my extremely toxic relation with my father and find ways to cope with it. I can't say I can fully relate to your particular situation, but from what I've heard from you around here I can tell that this whole mess weights heavily on your self-esteem and brings your mood down, doing something to fix it most likely can't make it worse, especially in the long run. Also, if you think you might regret doing nothing later on, it's better to at least do something. If you're sure you'll be ok just leaving the issue behind, it's also fine, but once more, it's not that easy to wrap your head around these things by yourself.
