I like my characters amoral or immoral. It just makes everything more fun. The whole justice, love peace and order thingy is just annoying. While I was reading Comyu, Benio seriously annoyed me. I was thinking "can someone please blow her head up" whenever she talked.
 
Utsuge is my second favorite game tag. I love bad endings, and having heroines die is just interesting. I also hold the view that human relationships are just trades, so loveless sex is not a big deal at all. Both parties want pleasure, so they have sex. What's weird, bad or wrong about it?
 
My favorite girl in comyu was Yoruko. The reason? Blind loyalty. She follows Gasai's orders and would gladly die for his sake as his sword or shield. I just love heroines like that, too. Imagine all sorts of things you could do with a servant like that <3

lol... first of all, for those who have yet to finish, I want to say a few words.

I've been wanting to say that for years now.  I won't allow anyone else to take her from me, not even Akihito!!!
 
Anyway, this is one of my old favorites, so I'm happy and excited that other people have a chance to play it.  This was the eighth untranslated VN I played.  To be honest, while I have played VNs that are better, I've never loved a heroine more than Hinaori Kagome.  There is no other heroine quite like her (though Ami from the recently released Semiramis no Tenbin has some of the same qualities, without the buffer of having a childhood friend to soften her attitude, lol).  She formed my taste in heroines, and she is the reason why so many heroines leave me unsatisfied.  If you are ever unfortunate enough to really meet your ideal heroine, you will know what I've experienced for the last four years, lol. 

Remove Dracu-Riot. I hate that game.

Finished Kanon. It was a beautiful (retro) experience despite a perfectible writing (for example, some endings were bad/botched and the H-scenes were horrible). Similarly, it was refreshing to follow a good and likeable protagonist (for once, he's not a stupid donkan).
Girl Ranking : Akiko (she's like a summer ray of sunshine just in the middle of Winter) > Nayuki (sweet sleepyhead) = Shiori = Kaori (but no route for her  ) = Sayuri > Makoto (funny but too childish) = Ayu (funny but too much uguu kills the uguu) = Mai (a mysterious coodere...but a bit too quiet)
Route Ranking : Shiori (the classic moving story but with a truly satisfying closure)> Makoto (surprisingly touching) > Mai (the ending left me slightly puzzled...otherwise it was pretty, mysterious and poetic > Ayu (nice but too predictable) = Nayuki (interesting until we discover a rushed ending) > Sayuri (she deserved better)

We brought on a regular of /r/visualnovels, veleon on to be our guest.
In this episode we talked about various Major VN genres (Action, Comedy, Drama, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Mystery, Horror, Romance). It was a rather freeform but fun episode with a few tangents.

Well it's finally done. In side the spoiler contains a literary analysis of Mai Kawasumi and Sayuri Kurata from the visual novel and anime Kanon. I explore the complexities of their friendship through analyzing them as individuals. I don't want to say any thing more because of spoilers. Speaking of spoilers, if you have not watched the Kanon 2006 anime, or read Mai and Sayuri's routes in the Kanon Visual Novel then you have been warned. However, if you read Mai's route without reading Sayuri's, I personally wouldn't stray away from this paper as Sayuri's route is only around an extra 30 min - 60 min of original text. So I don't think you would be spoiling yourself from much, but in the end it's your choice. This paper does not spoil any other character routes.  
 
A few notes about how I incorporated quotes: 
 
1) Non-Directional Translations created the English patch for the Kanon visual novel, so my quotes are of their translation. 
 
2) After I finish a quote I cite the character's route by writing their name, and then I include the in-game day that it was said. For example: if Mai said "I like Usagi-san", and the in-game day was January 15th. I would write it like this: Mai said, "I like Usagi-san"(Mai, Jan 15). This is significant because... (It's not).
 

I recommend this one.

It is our right as consumers of visual novels to discuss and point out the level of quality of the product. I personally don't have the mentality that, "hey at least i can buy a VN even if the quality isn't up to par". That's not right for me, I mean if the translation isn't smooth and reading it may prove to be annoying, i appreciate it when people point it out with examples. I can then choose not to buy it and buy something else instead. 
I don't need to learn Japanese just because I'm not satisfied with the translation quality done by companies that are supposed to specialise in translation. Its a new time for Vns in the west now, there are many available for people to pick and choose. I've got over 30 vns in my backlog that i may read when i have the time. Honestly i'm not interested in learning Japanese right now and am fine with just picking up the Vns already available or will be coming soon.
I mean, mikandi had like a year to translate the game and polish it up. They aren't creating the game, they're translating it. I think a year is ample time to get it to the best possible quality by apparent professionals. If this was a fan translation, hey take years if you want. You're doing it on your own time, you didn't ask for anyone's money to do it. But if you're a professional then people are going to have high expectations for quality. 
I've read hundreds of books in my time and I don't think i've ever had issues with books not being proofread properly. It really shocked me when i first starting reading visual novels, how official translations done by professionals can have so many errors that have been pointed out and never addressed or edited. Like its just an accepted fact that just because there aren't many Vns out there, they can just cut corners with releases and people will just go "oh well, it can't be helped, we don't have much of a choice anyway...". Its a sad thing to see. 
Visual novel companies should endeavour to release products of the highest quality and translations that are honest and accurate to the meaning of the original scripts. It is their duty as professionals and it is also their responsibility to consumers and the creators of those games.

Hotly anticipated(!) title is finally out after a delay.Kashou continues to enlare his harem.I think he will bang his sister in the fourth one.
Still i think i will play.Its probably 3-4 hours long so it won't hurt.

I heard that this is the ancestor of nakige genre and an inspiration to the key games that came later.Its so unfortunate that this is still untranslated.

I got this fandisc several years ago via an online auction. Chances are, it was originally produced for a Comiket from many years back. It makes me think, I wonder how often this sort of thing happens today? A fandisc over a single character, real life meet ups, sharing desktop accessories for fans to enjoy. It feels like such simple times, and I like that a lot.

I have never had a chance to attend a Comiket before. From the outside, the crowd looks intimidating, but when I browse through discs like these, it makes me think, yeah, I would like to attend at least once. We all know about the porn, but what is the atmosphere like? Happy to hear stories of Comiket and any other fandom stories that transcends the games.
