I don't know, I'm pretty sure everyone explained that MTL is bad, because, you know, the translation is wrong. I think you're able to defend MTL that much for now because you basically have almost no Japanese knowledge. As you said you were learning, I wonder what your stance will be in a few months once you'll have enough knowledge to realise how bad MTL is.

This is the main issue. People encouraging other people to use MT. If you don't know much about MT or translations, then it sounds tempting and then people go into MT without knowing what they are going into. Multiple people have said the issue is not what people do themselves, but what they recommend to other people. I tried MT based on recommendations, which turned out to be based on false facts about quality.
And yes, it's important to understand what the tools does and that generally speaking, the tools aren't bad. Both text hooking and Translation Aggregator works well for both MT and as assistance for reading Japanese. In fact getting the text as text is extremely valuable if you want to copy paste kanji or words into dictionaries or similar.
Likewise machine translations is not all bad. They actually do ok in some cases. They handle technical descriptions surprisingly well (with occasional big blunders) while they do worse with spoken language. The problem with MT VNs is that they not only aim at using the least good part of MT, it also relies on expressions and references, which MT can't handle, making it even more confused. To top it off, MT is designed to translate contents, not anything related to reading pleasure. In other words you will likely have better luck using Google Translate on wikipedia pages than using it on VNs.

(Note: I had never played or had an interest in Otome or OELVN before reading this demo. As such, my opinions expressed in this post will reflect accordingly and should be a bias perspective)
Just finished the demo. Great job on the OELVN @milkteebaby!
Firstly, the writing is pretty good. It is lively, and the demo is interestingly written. It's very novel-ish in style though. Not sure if it's good or bad, but just wanted to point it out.
The soundtrack is pretty good as well and greatly captures or set the mood, especially the scene at the end of the demo.
As for the artwork, it's my first time seeing this type of art and I find it very unique:

Your studio also took real life photos and modified them, and i find the results to be pretty good:

Overall, I like the artwork and style a lot

There are some issues with the demo which I would like to highlight though:
Firstly, there are small grammatical errors in the demo (My average english proficiency has gone down the drain though. Posting this comment for what it's worth ). Also, there are dialogue placement errors too (such as sequence of conversation when the reader first met Naoki in the VN).
The most important thing is this: the VN looks and feels like it takes place in a western country instead of Japan:

                      \
I think it's very difficult to convince readers otherwise unless your side dramatically overhaul the entire VN.
Personally it did not affect me nor my initial good impression of it. Just wanted to highlight this in case it's important to you

I think the final product will be great. Try to market it to first time OENVL / Otome readers like myself. This demo certainly made a very good impression on me and I like it a lot
Best of luck with your project!

To side-step the usual machine translation debate, it's useful to distinguish between the 'hooking' feature of these tools and the 'translation' or 'dictionary look-up' features.  Also, the relative "quality" of machine translation isn't a feature of Translation Aggregator, but rather a function of which machine translator you use.  These tools often give the user multiple options to choose from.  Most people who use machine translation agree that ATLAS provides the best result.  Whether that 'best result' is sufficient to satisfy a given user is a different matter and sort of beside the point.

I bash multiple countries once in a while, sometimes countries I have never been to. However it has to be based on facts and be justified. For instance Russia traffic laws are crazy and allows maniacs. You have to exceed 80 km/h (50 mph) in residential areas before you can get a speeding ticket. I consider that to be horrible from a safety point of view. I don't fear upsetting Russians with this bashing though because they generally agree and hate the laws regarding speed limits. If we truly live in "the free world", we should be free to speak up about stuff like this.
According to The art of the deal, you have to be unpredictable or the opponent will predict your next move and counter it before you make the move. Trump is intentionally unpredictable in order to get a better position in negotiations. Trump is well prepared. He has armed forces in the area, lots of allies, UN support and trade embargo. He has said he is communicating with Russia and China about the issue in order to gain their support as well. Some democrats have stated that NK tricks the US each time they make a deal. Trump has stated this time will be different. Either it's a good deal for America or no deal.
NK is in another position. All countries seems to have sided with America. They lack oil, weapons, food.... well basically everything. Failing to reach an agreement can be the reason America needs to justify an attack (NK refuse to stop being a threat). Trump can afford to not get an agreement, KJU can't and it would appear that Trump has planned that setup and possibly worked on it ever since he was elected. Considering how well Trump seems to have planned this, odds are that he will not screw up now that he succeeded and he knows he succeeded.

I didn't say anything about VN haters. My main point is that there are people in the VN community, which praises MT and assume it can do stuff it can't. My point is that MT has a tendency to not only has a tendency to skip details, but also make up stuff. In other words using MT on a VN will result in a rewritten story, one where no human has looked at it for continuity or anything. If it's a new story made up based on CGs and written by somebody who cares, then there is a chance it will have a continuing story between the lines and scenes.
The main reason for my reaction here is not that I want to ban you from using MT if you really want to. I would not recommend it, but I won't try to convince you or ban you from doing so. The issue I have with this is encouraging other people to use MT. There are claims that you can get decent quality if you do it right and you will never suffer from titles not being translated and stuff like that. Claims like that are completely false and they serve mainly to trick people into thinking they start doing the right thing when they start to figure out how to use MT. Many people who believe it will start using MT and eventually regret it, calling it a complete waste of time. In other words praise of MT can arguably be called a scam, which end up wasting time for people.
I think it comes down to something else as well, which is editing. I read text before and after editing and here I made an important realization. The content was the same (more or less), but the edited script had become way more interesting to read. It's not just what it says, but particularly how it says it, which results in the reading pleasure. In other words even if the MT gets the translation down sort of ok, the editing will be awful, which will hurt the reading pleasure. MT can do a decent job if your task is to figure out say a manual for some software you try to figure out. It will not work well if you want anything with reading pleasure.

Here is the thing. Setting up MT is not instant. There are multiple options and then you have to learn how to read the result, which in itself is a learning process. To get good quality (and here I use good in very relative terms), the word on the net is to use Atlas. You then have to make one dictionary for each VN. You add the names as names, apply gender and stuff like that. You are also supposed to add words often used in VNs, but not present in Atlas by default (mainly H scene words). Next you need to configure some line changing stuff to make the lines more readable for Atlas.
By the time you reached what is supposedly claimed to be acceptable MT level, if you had spent the same amount of time on ITH+TA+jparser and studied Japanese grammar, you would likely have ended up with the ability to read Japanese on a level where you have a decent chance of beating MT on quality and unlike MT, you have a chance to improve by just reading more.
If you claim you don't have the time to study Japanese to even reach this level, then apparently you don't have the time to set up MT or even read VNs either.

I tried to read Little Busters ME in the past using ITH and TA (did VNR even exist back then? It was in 2013-2014, I think) I finished one route that way, and never tried to use a machine translator to read VNs ever since. The text was basically unreadable, I didn't get any enjoyment from it, and the funniest part was when different machine translators gave me almost opposite results. Like, I remember there was one sentence where the subject and the object of some action were literally replaced in different versions. Yeah, I know the technologies got better with time, but it's still far from perfect, from what I've seen.
Jp parser, one the other hand, is pretty cool.

Obviously at home. The two obvious reasons are screen size and lack of interruptions. Another thing is 18+ titles and public transport don't mix. As for competition from other computer activities, I don't think it's a real problem. If I buy some new game and feel like playing it for hours, then I will play for hours (providing I have the time). It's not like I have to read VNs daily even if there is something else I would rather be doing. It does arguably make me more picky towards which VNs to spend time on, but is that a bad thing?

    Congratulations on graduating!
One thing I've come to realize after so many problems coming up for my family is that it really does matter a lot what you do before your mind matures at age 25. Because my family has such a difficult time adjusting to a cruel world, every single one of them has problems with divorce, finances, jail time, education, mental health, physical health, and/or drug abuse. The one thing I know they all have in common is that they actively avoid facing their problems, and they're okay with personal stagnation or even regression. And the major issue here is that they let themselves stay that way until 25 when your attitude towards life become hard-ingrained in your mind.
What I'm trying to get at here is that as long as you have the will to acknowledge your problems and work continuously towards improvement, you really shouldn't get hung up over how much you accomplish in a short span of time. You have your whole life to achieve your goals and live your ideal lifestyle. And trust me when I say it's so much more productive to do what you're able to without putting pressure on yourself. It's become a recent topic of discussion with my therapist, because my dad forced me into an all-or-nothing mindset (which was later solidified during my time in the Army) that completely works against me in my studies, and it all stems from a self-imposed pressure to perform. I can't even begin to imagine what it's like to stay academically competitive as I'm only pursuing higher education for above average employment, but I don't think it's healthy for you to put so much pressure on yourself. If you aren't able to accomplish what you want at your desired point of time, try to think of it more as a temporary setback rather than a permanent block from your ideal lifestyle. Just remember, Einstein was a high school dropout!
