Tbh Muv Luv is much less about waifus and more about the incredible and complex world it builds.

Extra an Alternative are two completely different beasts. Do not judge the characters by the little you have seen so far. In Extra everyone is annoying on purpose. Takeru is not an exception.
But trust me, after you finish Alternative you'll come to love even the way the characters were in Extra.
As for your question, yeah, there are a lot of people who can't stand Sumika and love Muv Luv nonetheless!

FHA is a combination of all 3 routes in FSN, but it felt a bit more like Carnival Phantasm for the most part, and thus more of a fan disc than an actual sequel. This is in contrast to Meikyuu and Rauken, since Meikyuu has short after-stories for each heroine and the "Grand route" (aka the true route), while Rauken continues where the Grand route in Meikyuu left off without any side-stories (though it does have a prologue and epilogue, but I digress).

Are Meikyuu and Rakuen what Fate Hollow Ataraxia is to FSN?
Just an awesome fan disc with some original content and side stories but no real continuation of the plot?

In other news I somehow ended up going down Michiru's route, which I personally feel should have ended when

I really enjoyed Eden littleshogun, though the drama is a little forced it was something I just couldn't put down.

No. They are precisely the continuation of the plot. They have a bit more side-content, such as afterstories, but are otherwise a sort of 'true route' for Grisaia.

I still remember Amane's route very clearly despite reading it 4 years ago.

Personally, i wouldn't call them fan discs. To me they feel like true sequels. Dunno, at the end of 1st and 2nd VNs you can say that story is incomplete. There are unanswered questions and such. And regarding Rakuen ending:

@cro-mag If you think that, it's not wrong because VNDB listed both of Meikyuu and Rakuen as sequel. Then again, some of fandisc is also known to elaborate some missing plot point or in this case have some continuation from canon, so it's only fair that if I call those two as fandiscs. Moreso if we considering that between Kajitsu and Meikyuu there is zero continuity (Kajitsu is charage with endings for each girl, while Meikyuu canon didn't continue from available routes), in which the anime fixed that continuity problem (It's quite infamous though). As for Rakuen's ending, well Frontwing can just apply the route selection like Galaxy Angel, but then again maybe they kind of rush the release so they didn't have time to apply that. In the end, I leave it to each of their own.
For the title, right now I've been playing eden for a while and right now I'm near the end of that. I'll try to comment on eden later.

Have fun in regard of Yumiko's route later.
As for the sequels (Meikyuu and Rakuen), well I'd rather call those the fandiscs but it's not like it'll be wrong here if some people call those as sequels. Some of the problem from the sequels is in regard of the ending in which quite out of character to say it without spoiler. My argument in regard of Grisaia sequels is that Meikyuu should be enough if Frontwing just want to write that as sequel, just like Sharin FD and Akagoei.
Then again, perhaps it's understandable if Frontwing want to deliver the sequels quickly to regain some money. For the trivia, Frontwing was broke back when they developed Kajitsu, so basically Kajitsu here is their last gamble back at 2011. But still I would like to think that they can make the ending better by made Yuuji able to choose the heroine that he did had the ending with, just like Galaxy Angel.
tldr - While Kajitsu here is quite good and complete, I'm more or less just think the sequels as the fan discs. Feel free though if you want to read the sequels/fan discs later.

Yep, I did it. And it didn't even take me 20 years as I originally suspected.
Since there's nothing to do with this thread anymore, and AMA's are getting old, and it's not like I have anything interesting to tell about myself anyway, just... bring here the nicest VN fanarts you can find or something?

Last. Otherwise I would read the rest of the routes always annoyed knowing they'll never reach the perfection of the already proved best girl.
That and I like to end the game in a good note.

Fate is worth it just for the Tiger Dojo! If you hop onto Beasts Lair (no links so hope I'll get away with this) Jacktheinfinate101 and co have made the ultimate FSN package putting the new Real Nua stuff into the original and using Resolve/Mirror Moons TL. I've not read this version myself but it looks to be quite epic! Do it for Tohsaka, she is justice!

I've read 4 of these, and... all of them are pretty great, so I can't really recommend any of them over the others, to be honest. I guess, just read whatever VN you are more interested in at the moment. I'll lay down my basic impression of them.
Umineko - starts as a relatively enjoyable mystery at first and turns into massive (but amazing) mindfuck later on. Basically, a postmodern reconstruction of the mystery genre. My personal most favorite VN of all time, but it's definitely not for everyone.
Subahibi - even more massive midfuck, but with h-scenes. One philosophical VN actually done right.
Fate - simply a nice action story with amazing characters. Probably, one VN that should actually be read by everyone, but you don't really have anything similar in your list, so I'm not sure if you're going to like it.
Rewrite - very nonuniform VN. It's basically a nakige, an utsuge and a chuunige in one VN, but, actually, most parts are done pretty well, so it's not a flaw. Plus, I'm a big fan of its true routes.
Dies - I've only read the prologue, but it has a great start. Another action-oriented VN.
Edit. I guess, I'll vote for Fate.

I voted for FSN, since as Dreamysyu said you don't have anything similar in your list, it'll do just fine if you want to try different things! ^.^
Rewrite seems good for you too, looking at your list. Subahibi seems like a way too drastic change of what you usually read, so I would vote against that unless you're prepared to go waaaaaaaay out of your confort zone.

Well, I love Shinsekai Yori and I'm not a big fan of Evangelion, and I like both of these, so there's that. But, on the other hand, Subahibi is pretty similar to Evangelion, so it'll probably be safer to avoid it. As for Umineko, it's just its own thing. I can't really compare it to any other anime or VN I've read/watched.
I wouldn't use MLA as a reference, the way it handles action is very different. I don't thing it's possible to see if you are going to like this type of the VN before you try them.
Oh, yeah, it's very different from the other Key VNs. I wouldn't recommend even comparing it to them, because it's just different. It has a comedic common route which is pretty standard for Key VNs, but then goes a completely different way. For example, one route is a standard chuunige-like action, and another is more of the mystery-horror type of the story, and the third route is more about "politics". One great thing about this VN is its worldbuilding, but it also has quite a lot of plot-holes.

7in the case of WAS, the developer apparently shafted SP pretty bad on a bunch of stuff. SP should have done more vetting, but at the same time, I can't really blame em for that project specifically.

There is a term for this in English. It's called a slip of tongue, which is when you say something you know deep inside, but for some reason or another want to keep secret from everybody else. Things are going well here. We teach you better English while we get to know you better in return.
