  1. This one accepts your introduction, may the Enkindlers watch over you.
  2. I guess he just meant the combat system is more action packed and requiring player action? Since Witcher 1's combat was basically just a rhythm game. I greatly enjoyed 2's combat, especially after I downloaded the 1.5 gigs worth of combat overhaul that a fan made. Lots of cool options with bombs, traps and Signs. Also story-wise the second one feels more Game of Thrones-y in a way.
  3. So I finished Bishoujo Mangekyou - Wasurenagusa to Eien no Shoujo. It's a nukige with a semi-decent story. I know, I almost couldn't believe it myself. And now it's back to Dies irae, I guess. I've neglected it for far too long. I'm tempted to start Baldr Sky but I really should finish Dies first...
  4. I could tell you right now, since this is just my 2nd playthrough. =P TW2 is one of my favorite WRPGs of recent years, but keep in mind I also liked the first one. So yeah, I can't tell for sure if you'd enjoy this one, kinda depends on what aspects of the first Witcher you disliked, and also because the two games are relatively different in a variety of ways.
  5. Witcher 2 because I finally have a good enough GPU to be able to crank up the graphics to high and still get a good framerate. Also finished Lords of Shadow the other day, I am not too impressed. Very meh game.
  6. Thanks to both of you, you gave me lots of interesting stuff to choose from. Much appreciated. Oh and no, I haven't read Tsukihime, but I'm not a big fan of Nasu in general based on what I read of him.
  7. Right. Thanks for clearing that up.
  8. Thanks for the recommendations so far. Naomi, your description of YnS piqued my curiosity, haha. And now that you mention it I recall a friend of mine talking about it as well. I'll definitely have to look into that. Like I said untranslated stuff isn't a problem so I should be able to read it in its entirety. I saw the anime of Da Capo many years ago and wasn't a huge fan, but I'll keep it in mind. WA2 also added to the backlog. Maybe a silly question but do I need to read WA1 to enjoy 2?
  9. As the title says, but first let me explain in greater detail what I mean. I'm mostly looking for something where the romance doesn't just boil down to school/harem hijinks, cutesy scenes and melodrama. I'm more interested in something where the romance is mature, treated in a serious way and the characters act like adults about it. But the story itself doesn't necessarily have to focus on the romance, it can be a sci-fi adventure for all I care. =P Is there such a VN? My vndb list is down there so you can check out what I've played. Untranslated VNs are also fine by me. Thank you.
  10. I'll just leave this here for Nayleen. Thanks. No, really, thanks. Thank you. ...thanks.

Like Clephas I need to force myself and hold back all the things I could say about religious fundamentalists. Parts of your story made me really... well, angry. I won't lie. What's more important thoguh is that you've managed to find your place in life here at Fuwa, for which I'm very glad. I'm not a veteran member of the site by any means but I nonetheless thank you for sharing this and wish you all the best from now on.
  12. Summon Night 5 on PSP. Picked the female MC because she's just ridiculously cute. I regret nothing.
  13. Kimi to Kanojo to Kanojo no Koi (that new Nitro+ VN), wasn't expecting much but it ended up being great. Fate/Zero because I hate Stay/Night, but UroGen delievered. 999 with its true ending.
  14. Semi-accurate, I guess, but not without problems. I don't want to point out everything, but in 翼が角度を変え、旋回を始めた, there is no "I started turning" as the TL would suggest, since both verbs refer to 翼; the 変え form of the verb is merely meant as a connector of sorts. (the same way you use て form when listing qualities or successive actions and only use the full form for the last one) Also in 次の瞬間にはもう, it's TL'd as "already in another second" which could be confusing, since it's actually meant to say "a mere second later..." (...it was already off the ground and flying, or whatever) Similarly, "It flies up to the blue sky, White wing" is preposterous English, but you should be able to make out that "it" is supposed to refer to 白い翼) I dunno. The choice is completely up to you, but if you want to learn grammar well, it is exactly these small things that you should be aware of, so I doubt this would be a very good learning tool in that regard. IMO the only things text extractors should be used for by the Japanese learner is looking up new vocab faster (since you can just copy-pase ITH's output into an online dictionary and such), which I very much recommend. For grammar and its nuances, machine translation is probably not something you'd want to heavily rely on. I don't quite see how you could master grammar rules via an MTL's output.
  15. Hiya. Added your site to my blogroll because, well, why not. I guess I just collect TL sites on a whim. YEAH I'M WEIRD, SHUT UP. In any case, welcome!
  16. RE: Revelations for Raid Mode only, and a second playthrough of Sol Trigger. And also starting Gemini Rue on PC. Also, this is irrelevant but I didn't know where else to post it, so... I have a Steam copy of Arkham Asylum I don't need. It's from the Humble Bundle. So if anyone wants it let me know. (preferably via PM because I won't be checking this thread)
  17. Here's the DI scene. Not entirely satisfied with it but what the hell, might as well post it. In the end I couldn't be bothered to sit and fast-forward until the scene came along so I translated it without the game. And I get the feeling I should've been aware of the larger context for the last dozen or so lines, I'm not very confident in those.
  18. Well, I dunno. In the flood of generic shounen/moe/harem and fanservice, I find it increasingly hard to take anime seriously. When I think art, I think novels like Orwell's 1984, for example, which imo is one of literature's great masterpieces. It's hard to find something of that level in anime (and please don't bring up Psycho Pass, while I enjoyed it, it doesn't even hold a candle to Orwell). You could probably find exceptions (Satoshi Kon), but they would be few and far between.
  19. I kinda agree. In my review I called this "the mystery is more interesting than its actual solution" or something along those lines. I loved the middle of the game when Reiji is still trying to track down the killer and such, but when the culprits were revealed, I was like "oh, that's it?". Still a good VN, but overall I preferred the sequel. As for your question,
  20. It will leave you frustrated, possibly. It's a massive cliffhanger ending that is only resolved at the very end of the sequel.
  21. Is DI that problematic with Youtube in terms of copyright infringement? I have a couple of Dies videos on my channel and they weren't taken down. (then again, that could always change). In the meantime, do you happen to have a save file for that scene? If there is voice acting, it would help to read it like that for maximum effect for those that have the game.
  22. Yeah Darksiders 2 is definitely fun. Combat system is really satisfying and the art is a great improvement over the first one (less urban and more dark fantasy). I don't care much for the loot system, I find it a bother always having to look for better gear, and having to sell all my junk at vendors. Just a waste of time imo.
  23. I'm working my way through Darksiders 2, already at the end of Act 2. Played a bit of Amalur as well, been sitting on my shelf unopened for a while now, so I figured why not.
  24. Hello and welcome. Out of curiosity: favorite JRPGs? (since everyone else will ask about VNs anyway)
  25. inb4 no one actually clicks this and you forever go unnoticed in the depths of fuwa hell. I kid, welcome to the forums. The usual questions at a time like this are "what have you played" and "what's your fav VN", so I'll, uh, go ahead and ask those questions now. =P
