  1. Hey, welcome to the forums. I like Vocaloid quite a bit as well, although I mostly just listen to Miku songs, really. Anyway, nice to have you on board.
  2. Welcome to the forums! Yeah, I'm not aware of any VNs specifically aimed at wrestling. The closest I've seen is the detailed descriptions of samurai battles/sword fighting tactics in Narahara Ittetsu's works, most notably Hanachirasu (translated) and Soukou Akki Muramasa (not translated).
  3. If anyone cares the Valkyria Chronicles 3 English patch was released earlier today. http://vc3translationproject.wordpress.com/ On-topic I finished FC3 Blood Dragon a while back.
  4. Well it has a couple I'm looking forward to getting and heard only good things about. The new Ace Attorney that just came out, Virtue's Last Reward, Crimson Shroud, SMT4, Bravely Default, Etryian Odyssey 4, A Link Between Worlds, Fire Emblem Awakening... just off the top of my head. Maybe you don't care about any of those, but I do. =P
  5. If the Vita ends up like the PSP (lots and lots of Japanese games) I'll probably get one as well in the future. The PSP has been very good to me in terms of JP-only tites. For now though I'm content with the 3DS, got one recently because it had quite a few games I was interested in.
  6. Yes, that's a link to her Wikpedia page. She seems to only have roles in eroge (mostly nukige judging by the titles...) and started her career in 2008.
  7. That's the voice for Makina Irisu, though. Isn't that a different character? I never played the VN so I wouldn't know. According to the Japanese Wiki, the character Irisu Kiyoka is voiced by Yuika (唯香). Her other roles are listed here: http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%94%AF%E9%A6%99
  8. I don't play nukige much so my knowledge is limited but: http://vndb.org/v11071 -- some (but not all) H scenes are animated. It also gets bonus points for having a decent story for a nukige (though don't expect anything mind blowing). http://vndb.org/v8038 -- same series so same deal as above, but I didn't like the protag at all so... but if you're only in it for the animated H I suppose you might like it.
  9. Pfft, you guys and your lolis. =P Kiryuuin Satsuki is clearly the best girl. She has all my votes forever and ever.
  10. Kasumi route finished in Dies Irae. Lots of info and foreshadowing in the final chapter and I'm not 100% I fully understood *everything*, so I'm hoping for some more explanations in the other 3 routes. The route itself was still worthwhile simply because Kei was in it quite a bit and she's my favorite heroine so far. This scene in particular was so full of hnnnng: Also I wanted to see her sing karaoke in English. I cannot believe they did not show that scene. Unforgivable. And now I think I'm supposed to read the first two unlocked side stories before starting Kei's route.
  11. I've always enjoyed voice acting, it really brings the characters to life. I also prefer having voiced protagonists. Plus it sometimes comes in handy when I'm having a brainfart not recognizing a kanji in the text but then the character pronounces it and I'm like, ah okay so that's what it was.
  12. By few months I'm assuming 6 or less. In that case, absolutely, it's gonna be tough. But 1 year + ITH is possible I'd say. People are gonna have a variety of different experiences and capabilities, some will be more talented than others, so yeah. And of course there is a need for TLs, for those that do not wish to/ cannot study. I pointed out in my post that it was merely possible; not necessarily the norm for everyone.
  13. Oh man. You MUST read Kimi to Kanojo to Kanojo no Koi. I don't wanna spoil too much but this exact idea is being explored in a very interesting way in that VN. I'll keep the Grisaia series in mind as well, thanks.
  14. Yeah I don't think there's a fix answer for the "how long does it take" question. It depends on motivation, effort, talent, prior exposure to the language (more important than you'd think), quality of your teacher (if you have one), intensity of your learning, your own learning methods/strategies and so on. You can get to VN-reading level faster than most VNs will be translated. Seriously. I mean, I did, so surely others can as well. Don't get me wrong, if you have other priorities in your life that don't allow you to study that intensively, that's perfectly fine, but I'm just saying that it's possible with enough effort. I don't think it's a matter of time, really, but rather RL priorities and motivation for most people. It also depends on how much of a challenge you give yourself. If you start reading more difficult stuff even at a lower level, you'll be faced with sort of a decision: get better or break down. Some people break down while others overcome it and become better in the process.
  15. I don't remember all the controls but you save via right click/save.
  16. I thought it would've been cooler if the game itself hadn't spoiled the twist in advance.
  17. Male - Midorikawa Hikaru; Wakamoto Female - Sawashiro Miyuki; Inoue Marina
  18. lol yeah, the fight scenes get pretty insane with the kanji. But hey, give it a try if you want. You can more or less test yourself with the prologue.
  19. Finished Bioshock Infinite the other day, it was a very pleasant surprise, seeing how I'm not a big fan of the original Bioshock but loved this one.
  20. Hey there, welcome to the forums. Looking at your vndb we seem to have a couple of titles in common, which is always good. In any case, enjoy your stay.
  21. After much procrastination I decided to return to Dies irae and not skip Kasumi's route against my better judgment. Almost done with Chapter 6 I believe. Also installed Ourai no Gahkthun just in case I need some distraction.
  22. - True End of Kara no Shoujo 2: - The endings of MuvLuv Unlimited and Alternative: - Aiyoku no Eustia: - Lots of scenes in Muramasa, namely:
  23. I skip through them most of the time. I believe the only one I ever read from start to finish was Sumika's scene from ML Extra because... I dunno, it wasn't really about the porn, but rather the characters' feelings. (how she was frustrated by not being seen as a woman by Takeru, and how that finally changed, etc. if you've played it you know all this) Also, the issue kinda reminded me of this video: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/jimquisition/8300-Sexual-Failing Nukige ar at least honest about the whole deal, while in games like FSN, already mentioned above, sometimes it's just there to let the player see some naked chicks while pretending to be totally plot-relevant.
  24. Kinda depends on how much you know and how long you've been studying, which you haven't mentioned. No matter the VN, I think a solid grasp of the grammar is required at the very least, even for slice of life. There are easier VNs and harder ones, of course, but they weren't designed for someone who's only been taking Japanese classes for, say.. 3-4 weeks. So make sure you know your grammar before you attempt one, otherwise even an easier VN might give you problems. Once you have the grammar down you can easily look up vocab with a program like ITH, as mentioned above. Genki books are a decent start, I'd also recommend that. The conversations and letters you can read in those should be okay for a beginner, since that's what they were designed for. As for learning kanji, I shared my own experiences and thoughts on the matter in a blog post I wrote a while back, so I won't repeat it here.
