  1. There are tiny remnants of the original meaning here and there but those are mostly inaccurate/gibberish. Edit: Btw, yeah, the Google one comes the closest.
  2. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. I'm not too blown away by the gameplay so far, but the visuals and general atmosphere is great. Graphics are really pretty in 1080p.
  3. I doubt any good translator worth their salt would feel threatened by machine TLs. Besides, and I don't know how many people actually realize this, but translators aren't *just* translators. They're also writers to a certain extent. Translation isn't just word by word/phrase by phrase replacement of one language with another, sometimes you have to rephrase entire sentences and paragraphs to make the meaning come across more efficiently. I think at least a certain level of knowledge of the language is always going to be necessary for that. Also, someone throw the below paragraph into a MTL software, I'm genuinely curious what it can make of it (I've never used ATLAS and the like so I'm wondering how accurate these programs are). This is what could be considered a relatively complex/difficult VN script:
  4. Aiyoku no Eustia: done with Fione's ending, moving on to Eris' chapter. Loving this VN so far.
  5. It says "Failed to copy G:/MuvLuv11.exe" Based on the answer given here, you should try deactivating your security software, antivirus, firewall and such and then try again. It solved the issue for the guy asking the question in that link.
  6. 13 episodes for Extra, 13 for Unlimited (in one season), and 26 (or more) for Alternative would be ideal. I'd watch the shit out of that.
  7. If you want to make quality/accurate translations, don't rely on programs like ATLAS. Get an actual person that knows Japanese.
  8. "Don't worry. Today's a safe day." Yeah I went there. (What's that character from, btw?)
  9. Yeah, I appreciate the optimism Aaeru, but I think sanahtlig's right about this one.
  10. Sword Art Online - Hey I just met you, and this is crazy: The Show.
  11. This. Except my choice would probably be Meiya from ML.
  12. Bit of a longer one, but it's in one vertical textbox afaik. It basically encompasses the moral ambiguity of wars and conflict in general. Probably not the school-friendly quote you're looking for but eh, screw it, it's a good and meaningful quote worth sharing anyway. 誰かの敵は誰かの味方。 誰かの悪は誰かの善。 刃が生命を奪うとき、必ず善と悪は諸共に断たれている。例外は無い。 悪だけを斬る武器、悪だけを殺す殺人など無い。 In my translation it roughly goes like this in English: One’s enemy is another’s ally. One’s wickedness is another’s virtue. The moment a sword takes a life, it slays both evil and good at the very same time, without fail. There exists no blade that strikes down only the wicked. There is no steel that tastes the blood of villains alone. -Minato Kageaki, Soukou Akki Muramasa
  13. The developers hooked me up with a free copy (thanks devs!) but I've only played the first two episodes. Still need to get around to playing ep 3. Based on the first two episodes I think it's still far too early to draw any conclusions. It could go either way right now. Those two eps are basically just the exposition, at least that's what it felt like. The English translation could use some polish, though. The writing feels weird here and there, plus there are a few grammar mistakes as well. It might seem like a minor thing but it can ruin immersion. I'm hoping there will be some more character development as well. There's this chick who's supposed to be your love interest (I think?), but I felt no connection to her at all. I dunno how to explain it. Don't let your backlog hold you back, though, the episodes are pretty short. 30 mins for ep 1, maybe an hour and a half for ep 2. Edit: Btw, they told me they're planning to fix the grammar mistakes, so I guess that won't be a problem in the future.
  14. People translate trial versions all the time, not sure what's so weird about that. The next step would've been to move onto the full game if the trial patch was well received. But of course this is all just speculation now.
  15. Mass Effect 3, Dead Space 3, plus I'm starting get hooked on Skullgirls as well. Trying to learn Cerebella at the moment.
  16. I know what Muramasa is like, I read the whole thing. Translated a good portion of it, too, over at my blog. Probably not as high quality of a script as someone like Makoto could make it, but it's really just a pet project I did for myself. I learned a lot from it. You are 100% correct, though, it was the single hardest VN I've ever read, so I had to look up all the archaic kanji in a dictionary (I'm not going to pretend my Japanese is anywhere near as good as yours) but other than that I understood the plot. I mostly made this topic because I've been toying with the idea of going beyond what I did on my blog and maybe tackling a full patch wit the help of other translators, but with the current situation of JAST that's not going to ever happen.
  17. Well I just beat all three routes (by skipping like a jerkface), and I thought it was good, but not quite as good as Analogue. Still very much worth the 10 bucks, though.
  18. My opinion on Analogue is all here, but the tl;dr version is that I liked it quite a bit and therefore decided to pick up Hate Plus on day 1. I'm still not far into it but I chose *Mute for my first run, seeing how this is her game. I still have my saves from Analogue which I transferred over, just to be able to do the Harem route as well.
  19. Hate Plus came out yesterday so I'm playing that. Going through *Mute's route first.
  20. I never considered attempting a full patch because of JAST, and based on what I read in this thread I suppose that won't change. I guess we'll just have to wait for them to get on it, maybe in 5-6 years if we're lucky.
  21. Np mate. One more thing is that I *think* this will only work until the actual game comes out. Aka in 3 days. So make sure to get the most out of those 3 days if you don't plan to buy the full game this month.
  22. Here's a list of a few hundred Skullgirls beta keys for Steam. I expect them to be used up quite soon so be quick. I used #1834, worked for me. http://i.imgur.com/W2ErevV.png
  23. First of all, I'm not recruiting for a team. For the time being I'm just looking for info and a bit of clarification. Anyway: I'm wondering if an English patch for Muramasa would be possible at all (I'm thinking small right now, so only the first chapter, aka the trial version). For those not familiar with the game: http://vndb.org/v2016 Opening: From a technical viewpoint, I heard the vertical text/interface would cause problems, but I'm curious if that couldn't be somehow solved via some method. The game does switch to a horizontal text box in certain scenes, so probably someone who's not completely clueless when it comes to the technical side of these things (like I am) could do something about it. I dunno. That's why I'm asking. The other thing, and this is the more important one, is the whole JAST USA localization. I've heard so many conflicting things about this that I don't know what the official stance is anymore. So what's the deal with this one? Did they drop this, or are they still planning to TL it in the future? If it's the latter, then a fan TL project would be wasted time and effort, since JAST would just shut it down immediately. The most I found was this quote: "For Nitro+ games, we have a number of games in our catalog, we want to get the games in our catalogue done before we look at more titles", and that's a super vague answer that barely says anything concrete. So... yeah. Basically, any input on this would be welcome.
