  1. I know people who went abroad, without knowing a single word (but really, not a single word), who were not so passionated about their host country's culture, but finally came back bilingual and went through cultural shock by going back to France. Obviously, it was hard on them at the beginning but these hardships faded away eventually. From the moment your are passionated and curious about Japan, and I am sure you are, I think you could go there. Of course, it is better to know a bit the language before going, (even the basics, just so that you can ask people about things you do not know) but not knowing the language is definitively not a barrier that you should put before your dreams. To tell you the truth, I have already been through its 15 pages in the past. Haha, I love that skin ! I'll try to stop by one day. I have been been playing Starcraft when I was younger, and recently someone offered me Starcraft II, which was under blister and everything but whom the CD-Key didn't worked out for mysterious reasons. Since then, I am procrastinating contacting Blizzard. One reason to this is that I have been strongly attracted to Wargame Airland Battle, which is a totally different kind of RTS. Therefore, I am not too interested in playing SC 2 but I'm watching competitions from time to time. Thanks for the tips. I was kind of... reluctant giving my soul. I don't think you should tell yourself that learning Japanese is impossible, since you are creating obstacles before even trying. Actually, Japanese is the sixth language that I am learning, and I feel no different than if it was the third. By the way, it is funny how you hate physics despite liking maths... Usually it is the other way around, since both are pretty close but with only one being concrete.
  2. I am actually watching Jojo's Bizarre Adventures, and I still don't know if the fact that every characters tell out loud what they are thinking and describe their attacks should make me laugh or not.
  3. Thank you everybody ! It's always good to know. :> I am always looking for recommendations. Recently, I have enjoyed Eden*, since it is fairly short and because I had no major troubles understanding it.
  4. Thank you ! Are you studying by yourself ? Sometimes I have a hard time integrating precise grammatical notions or making long and correct sentences. I think that VNs does help a lot for comprehension, but I have difficulties expressing myself. Of course, I am really excited ! Unfortunately, I don't know yet where I will be staying, since during the year foster families are usually welcoming foreign students already, and because the association (AFS) is still recruiting families. I will probably learn my future whereabouts in mid-february, one month before going to Japan. I think it is great to live a fulfilling youth, enjoying it as long as I have lots of time ~
  5. Hi Fuwanovel , I am Zeykos. (Sorry, I couldn't find any original topic title.) I've been on the website since it has been made public, but I only decided to register now. My first visual novel was Muv-luv followed by Muv-luv Alternative, two years ago, and it left me quite a deep impression, to the point that I am now playing VNs regularly, in English and in Japanese as much as I can since it is a great way to learn the language. (And all kinds of vocabulary ) I also appreciated Hoshizora no Memoria, Rewrite and Little Busters, but globally I am content with very little, and so far there has been no VNs that I hated. I am actually playing Grisaia no Kajitsu, and I guess that after that I will start Da Capo II or Deardrops, since I found them at a convention for the bargain of 15€, both with the artbook and the OST, tee hee ~ Of course, I love anime, manga and video games. I have taken a recent interest in Mahjong, and I am now trying to play it online but without success. I enjoy almost every types of games, particularly RTS / STG / rhythm games; mostly Taiko no tatsujin and Beatmania. I admit that I am no good at puzzle games and point&click. (笑) Concerning my life, I am seventeen years old and and on my third-year of highschool, in France. I love maths and physics, and I wish to study aeronautics or astrophysics after graduating. However, it's not for next year since I have the chance to go on an intercultural trip in Japan, where I will be studying in a japanese highschool, living in a japanese family for one year. And I hope that this trip will help me reading japanese novels much, much more smoothly than now. Aside from that, I enjoy sports, classical music and I play viola. With hindsight, I can see that I wrote as much as an old lady writing her memories. Sorry everyone, and nice to meet you !
