    More occult nazis?
I understand the hype, but like seriously, Dies Irae isn't the holy grail of japanese vn industry. It just happens to titillate the kind of stuff we're fond of as fans. Granted, it's still better than the 95% of vn's out there that's, perhaps, why we always wanted it to happen so badly.
That aside, this preety much means we kind of achieved our goals as a community. Will that mean Fuwanovel will close down, or is it just the beginning of a more wondrous voyage?
Don't forget, guys - eroge was a mistake!

I'm basically just expecting Dies Irae to be a pretty good action story. Which makes it one of the few VNs I actually have expectations for. I typically try to have absolutely no expectations when going into something new but with Dies Irae, that's pretty much impossible. But still, got to keep it realistic.

It's okay that means Dies is shit too
Actually from what I gather from my more trustworthy sources (batman and Rooke) all VNs are shit anyway, no reason to hype all that much.

Amantes Amentes is a version without sex scenes to begin with... But yeah, not like it'd ever stop anyone from complaining about that, lol.

Now it's all a matter of waiting for the complaints regarding sex scenes being removed and the translation sucking so much it disrespects every author in the world.
    Can't wait!

There are now all kinds of gory details about progress on a per-route basis on the official project website, where I'm now keeping progress up to date (currently nightly, because while it isn't truly automated, it takes me about 30 seconds to update, because hooray tools): https://lunatranslationstestsite.wordpress.com/projects-2/projects/progress/
    A quick summary:
    13700 / 40208 (34.1%) Translated
    7356 / 40208 (18.3%) Edited
4160 / 40208 (10.3%) TLCed (actually less than the prologue, since we have now discovered we didn't do a full TLC pass before releasing the prologue patch...)
    5640 / 40208 (14.0%) Proofread
4298 / 40208 (10.7%) QCed (just the prologue; we probably won't be spinning up QC again for a while)
And week-over-week deltas, for the stats I had last week:
    744 lines translated
    660 lines edited
I hoped to catch up some on the translators this week, but apparently RIP me; I'll use the excuse that I was building tools to spit out all those fields' progress... At any rate, while this wasn't our best week for progress, it was still pretty decent. There was substantial TLC progress this week as well, but I don't have last week's numbers for that field, so I can't give you a delta. Nothing's more thrilling than data, so look forward to next week!
Edit, I forgot: out of curiosity, I also started computing progress numbers based on JP character count. Multiply these numbers by two if you want the "byte count" people like to talk about when evaluating size of a TL project, I guess (depending on the encoding they're using...):
    235942 / 747133 (31.6%) Translated
    127171 / 747133 (17.0%) Edited
    70200 / 747133 (9.4%) TLCed
    94390 / 747133 (12.6%) Proofread
    72728 / 747133 (9.7%) QCed

Cant really call 4-5 votes reliable. But I generally avoid a reliance on the consensus of others anyway.
Art looks decent, and the premise could be interesting, despite the generic overtones (to be clear, I have no problem with "generic" if executed well). Overall I'm just happy to see Fruitbat Factory continue to spread their wings - competition is a good thing.

Hello and nice to meet you. A friend of mine pointed me to this thread so I thought I'd drop by.
First of all, I'm still online regularly, but I haven't been checking any notifications, not even from my emails. I'm really sorry for not replying sooner.
I didn't actually do everything alone, maybe just translating 2-3 routes, and when the team was reduced to one man, it became so taxing that I stopped my hands before I knew it. I also would like to see this game 100% translated. If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know.
I can provide you with the already translated files, but it will take quite some time for me to find. I suggest you just extract all the needed files from our latest patch.

I've been avoiding commenting on this to be polite, but I can't let that one go: what is accomplished by the (rather long, relative to the length of the VN) scene with Jumbo? Frankly, for me, it actually subverted the characterization of the main characters (for Amber to commit petty vandalism against a harmless redneck and then for Marina to laugh prettily about it didn't fit either of them at all), introduced a completely pointless flanderized side character who then disappeared, and failed at providing comic relief.
There is bloat on both a macro scale, like the scene I mentioned above, and a micro scale, where a vast number of the lines exhibit a complete disregard for writerly economy (and please feel free to call me on this: I have a dozen or two screenshots which I am happy to start throwing out here).
I'm sorry to come off as harsh, but I have read through about a half dozen reviews of this game, almost all of them praising the writing, hoping for just one person to represent the problems I have with it. I waited for this review to see if it would be what I was hoping for, since I've seen bats go after games for bad writing before. But it didn't happen, for a game that I feel deserves that criticism, so I'll come out and say it myself: this game is not well-written.
Edit: since I had a lot to say about this, I dusted off the partially-written mostly-writing-oriented review I prepped for this a long while back and just posted it to my Fuwa blog. I'm not trying to start any drama, I promise. I just feel like Fuwa, and the VN community in general, is often an echo chamber, so when I see something that deserves constructive criticism and it's not getting it, I feel a need to put it out there.

Apparently it has more than 4 MB of text so it should be the longest VN they've ever translated, since Koihime and Evangile just had about 3 MB. (Not sure about Umineko though...)
VNDB length infos are pretty unreliable since everything >= 2 MB seems to get the long description.
Tokyo Babel has about 2 MB of text and is listed as long. But Shin Koihime Musou too with almost 6 MB (!!!) of text.
So yeah, VNDB length infos suck pretty hard.

The only in-progress translation from SP I'm really confused about is Ley Line. But then again, I never fully understood what was holding it up when it was a fan project, either. I think what's most telling of SP's situation is Wagamama High Spec. They announced it long before the game's release, said they wanted to release it this spring and even entertained the possibility of a simultaneous release. Then after some delays they finally started listing progress a month ago, and it was at like 23% translation. It basically seems like Sekai Project has a manpower issue, they seem to have had some staff turnover issues that have kept some projects from progressing and generally don't have as many translators as they thought they would for handling everything in their pipeline.
SP actually have been announcing fewer big translations lately, though. At least, ones they'd have to handle from scratch. They announced SakuSaku and Baldr Sky at AX, both of which were adopted fan translations. Koikuma will be the big "everything must be done from scratch" project from AX. And nothing of particular note was announced at Otakon. As some of their smaller titles are releasing they're shifting staff onto bigger projects and are still finding new talent from outside the VN industry, which is a talent pool other companies haven't been able to tap into . The person they hired just a few weeks ago for Tenshin Ranman will have that as their first VN translation, for instance.
So basically, things actually are progressing there now, and I think they're done announcing a large number of huge projects for the time being. It's interesting that the topic of SP announcing too much stuff for them to handle happened right after the con where they basically announced nothing.

The difference is that Sekai Project relies on Kickstarter.  Having a large backlog makes backers uneasy.  The more projects going at the same time, the greater the loss to backers if Sekai Project suddenly folds.  A growing cascade of crowdfunding campaigns suggests reckless expansion, or worse, starting new projects to fund previous ones (a.k.a., a pyramid scheme).  Finally, too many simultaneous projects could stress the organizational apparatus overseeing all of them, resulting in lack of proper oversight and quality control.  These are all serious concerns.
MangaGamer is established, experienced, and boasts a fast-paced release schedule AND the quality control to back it up.  Not to mention that if they suddenly collapse, backers won't be left with the tab.

pretty sure both that will attend anime-weekend atlanta are also going to announce some stuff there. from what i´ve got conjurer (+gare?) are planned on getting another project to work on, but which is still in negotiations licensing-wise, and there´s also arunaru, whom i cant see having his rance5d/6 translations of rance listed as the secret one, as they should have been almost, or completely done by now.
might only be my imagination, caused by psychopharmaka, but i´ve got the feels of the year not being done yet - goes for both more big publishers (might incl. jast, in case they can solve their staff-related shenanigans)

edit: almost forgot them rising frontwing conglomerate, having mentioned sth about there are news to come about (possibly) doing stuff for other jp-companies sometime soon-ish.

Being one of the voices that pushes this VN the most loudly as Purple Soft's single best work (by several degrees), I was immensely glad to see that this was getting a localization from Mangagamer.  This was my VN of the Year for 2013 and it has by far the best soundtrack I've ever seen in a VN, period.  Not only that, but I've never come across a VN that utilized its soundtrack so effectively to stimulate emotion in-sync with the story before, so it was in some ways my awakening to the fact that there were still music directors who could 'do the work' around outside of the makers of the Drakengard and Nier jrpg series.
This VN focuses on the reality-blurring experiences of Tohru, a young man who sees nothing but lucid dreams (dreams where you are aware that you are in a dream) and suffers from physical and mental health issues as a result, and his group of female friends/acquaintances.  The VN itself is something of a mindfuck experience, mostly because the line between dreams and reality is so vague to the protagonist himself.
If you want my translation of the first scene, go here (the narrated videos are dead, but meh):

I also did introductions for the protagonist and Maia, two of the major characters.
