Anyway, I'm probably the absolute opposite from everyone regarding this issue. I live (currently, mind you) in a country were it's legal to marry a 9 year old child, as long as she has hit puberty (and yes, some are that young, specially around here).

For the most part, children in real life repulse me. But I don't mind lolis at all. Thing is I have no attraction to the actual kid lolis (though they can be cute), but I can get pretty dokidoki over like... the Mina Tepes/Makina type lolis. This might have to do with Flat is Justice, but whatever...

Lolis for the "cute is justice!" factor? Yes. Lolis are some of the most adorable things on the face of the planet. That's great. Going around having sex with children? Ehh, not so great. I think it's been said enough that 2D = fine. 

I believe most "loli-lovers" find 2D lolis to be extremely cute. I would agree. But I'm also sure most of them don't actually want to go around and have sex with children. I'd like to believe people can distinguish fantasy from reality. >_>

Well honestly i don't really have a problem with it, but because it can be considered child porn it is territory i thread carefully on, if someone indulges in it i won't put them down for it, but i try to avoid it if i can but like the guy above me said if it start's going into rape territory then i believe there's problem, honestly i not ok with rape in general whether it involve loli's or not, and let me stop before i start going of topic but yeah those are my thoughts on it.

2) "Surprisingly, there actually is serious controversy with loli characters in anime." (genre definition of lolicon)

3) "Surprisingly, there actually is serious controversy with children and their sexualized portrayal in anime." (the actual controversy)

 

The debate itself hinges around whether you believe that loli characters are sexualized portrayals of children or that they're just silly fictional tropes in the same vein as tsundere.

i would personally like a new term for those who only like 2D lolis and don't like 3D... i hate misconceptions like the one that lolicons are pedophiles in disguise, i'm sure there are some who are, but pretty much most of them are not

 

Well true it's not official Lolicon is kinda a person who likes 2D little girls while pedophile is the one who likes 3D ones.

 

I am a lolicon myself, I am not interested in 3D girls of any age at all and I like only 2D girls and out of them my favorites are Lolis.

 

By pool that we had some time ago it seems like 60%+ of people here like Lolis and those who don't like them still don't have anything against people who like them.

 

Most people here are very open minded and accepting, so even things that are worldwidedly considered taboo are generally accepted here. That's why I like it here so much.

A lolicon can be a pedophile though, there are people that can't distinguish reality from fiction. That's when issues begin.

In fact there are pedophiles that turn to 2D to release their sexual urges as they understand what they like is wrong and they don't want to suffer criminal punishment.

See this is why there's so much controversy. Yes most lolicons like 2D only and they don't want anything to do with underaged girls, but there are also those who will go that far and that raises serious questions on wether or not it's okay to portray underaged girls in 2D and wether that affects people's preferences.

Of course the answer to this is, there is currently no scientifical evidence that shows that people who do go for real underaged girls were driven to it by the lolicon genre. But you know people will keep trying to bring the genre down regardless. In fact i'd say the main reason lolis are still allowed in these mediums is because it brings money.

I do hope that people realize there shouldn't be any censorship in the 2D world ever and that those who can't distinguish reality from fiction are not like that because of lolis. Pedophilia is a desease, you don't develop pedophilia through watching 2D girls, period.

Id rather pedos get off on bon bon biyori than solicit underage children into porn. One could argue that an age of 2d lolis could theoritically reduce underage crimes, as porn has done for rape statistics. However you have to keep an open mind when researching these things. I'd say fear and politics has done more harm about these issues than helped.

i think the laws should be more strict about lolis, for example loli rape should be banned. Lolis are poor innocent beings and they should be treated with kindness and love, if a pedophile is using our poor lolis to satisfy his own needs i think he should leave them alone and go bother real kids as lolis should have rights too!

Lolis are uber cute but should stick to 2D. Unless there is a girl who is over the age and can successfully cosplay it then yeah sure.

Tastes are subjective, I myself honestly don't see how can anyone be attracted to RL people at all but majority still are.

It's just like liking people of same gender makes you a gay, but there is nothing wrong in being gay.

 

Nor does person who is one can do anything about it, you can't change what you like just because people tell you to, Just as I can't start liking 3D people just because someone tells me I should, or like streit man/woman can't become gay just because someone tells them too or other way around. Ofcourse you can like both too, but that still won't change that you do like both.
