    Whev, speaking of bad ends...

Sena's chapter - Deus ex machina

    Sorry for the lack of pictures this time around, there wasn't really anything else that'd make for interesting screens! This ending was very different than I expected it to be, though that seems to be the pattern with every single one so far. I have no idea what the deal with the baby was, but holy shit, Suwa is an ass. We also finally got some more info about the 300 - and the implications about Momose at the end pretty much change the meaning of the scenes with her and Ban completely. Poor Ban. ;_;

Pretty good ending all in all. Kind of makes me hope that Chaos;Child dives into this setting completely.

The Sakaurasou Team Presents They're first Psp Visual Novel Translation

Hello there my fellow members of this wonderful community. I am a new member who finally managed to create an account on this site and I'm here to announce that we the newly formed SAKURASOU TEAM are or have Begun translating the PSP Visual novel Boku wa tomodachi Sakugnai (I don't have any friends).

    Information about the Game:
Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai is the popular anime, manga and novel series about a boy who just transferred school and is having trouble making friends who teams up with loners Yozora and Sena to form a school club for others who don't have many friends, either. This PSP game will bring the story to many new places, with all original content. Also comes with a fun eroge style visual novel called Kirameki School Life, the game Sena plays in the anime, that you can play too.
    Got that from here(https://vndb.org/v8462)

    Team members :
No one special just your casual Sakurasou inmates

    Leader:Akasaka"Mark" Ryuunosuke
    Translator:Shiina "Gabriel"Mashiro
    Graphical Editor:Kamiigusa"Augusto" Misaki
    Graphic Editor:Kanda Chronoes" Sorta
Social media side of the project and English proof reader:Mitaka Me"Jin

We are an average size team and we have just began opening up the game files and have already found the script(thanks to chrones) and we have also extracted all the images that are need for editing. The script has been sent to the Translator and we are testing some modified text in game today as well.
We are in dire need of another Translator to proof read or translate to speed things up!

We need the following positions on our translation.
Japanese proof readers (we need 1-2 of these)
Translators (This we really need a second translator)
    Graphical Editors (Space Full)
    Hackers/Programmers(Space Full)

    No machine translators please!
if you are one of the people we need then comment or pm Me.

    Progress:
We have opened up the big .Dat files which contained lots of .gim files and we have created tools for that too. We have been given lots of tools by other complete or close to complete translation's such as Toradora and Orimieo.
Gamiee is currently creating more tools for other file types
Gabriel has been given the script and has begun translating it.

We intend on making this a full translation meaning 100%
We then intend on translating the Sakaurasou pet no kanjo PSP VN hence why we are called the Sakaorasou team. We are going to work faster on this translation since most of the tools are done and the script stuff is being translated(0% so far lol)
Our graphical editor has already edited some of the game images and he will continue a lot faster now because the .gim files have been extracted.
And that about wraps up this introduction.
We intend on releasing in game images of us messing around with the script sometime this week.
I will yet again state that we really need another Translator!

Thank you very Much for Reading!!!!!

Roach reacted to Tay in Important: Domain and Host transfer
Hey everybody, this is a pretty significant post. Please saddle in with me.

Fuwanovel is migrating to both a new domain (Fuwanovel.net) and a new server (which we host). The old “.org” domain is going to be redirecting to the new “.net” domain automatically, so even if you forget to mark your calendars with the following dates, you’ll still end up in the right place. Be sure to update your bookmarks at some point, though : P

(Tomorrow) Wednesday 2/18/2015 – Evening: the forums, the Fuwazette blog, and the FuwaReviews blog will be redirected to the new domain. Next week (as late as 3/1/2015): The front site will redirect to the new “.net” domain
For those of you who are nosey and want to start poking around the “.net” domain right away, you’ll find all the services I had mentioned but the forums will be outdated and the front site may or may not be online or functional. Do not panic – we’ll update the forums at the time of the transfer tomorrow night, and no content will be lost.

    Precautions and Cause
Some of you will remember our failed migration last year. We’ve taken significant precautions to prevent a repeat of last year: Nayleen has optimized the server and we have paid for a significantly more powerful machine to host the site. Nay and I both did our homework looking for hosts, and we’re very pleased with the one we’ve got: scaling the droplet (the hosting power) is easy, and we’re enjoying a good value for what we’re getting.

We did this move for many reasons. Chief among them were legal concerns and recommendations, and my deep-felt responsibility to protect the many community leaders from new legal risks (of which I’ve only very recently become aware).  More positively, it also needed to happen because we have a lot of new content and services rolling out in the near future.

    Consequences of TOS
The hot-button issue is compliance with our host’s TOS. I’m engaged today and tomorrow inspecting it and getting legal clarifications, but I do not believe we will be able to host torrents on the front site following the move and the D&R board will be too much of a liability to keep. It wasn’t my intention to have this happen all at once, but I feel like we have little recourse in light of protecting one another. I apologize if the legal liability is shocking, but the best way forward is to admit that what’s done is done, and the only thing we have control over is how we choose to move forward.

    Compensation
I don’t know how else to say this, so please bear with me: I realize that losing the torrents will rub some of you the wrong way. It should make all of us concerned, as they were a major draw to the site. I’ve got two thoughts on the matter: 1) the year-end surveys indicated that torrent usage among the three surveyed usergroups (core, FB, Twitter) was much lower than anticipated, which will soften the blow, and 2) new features must by necessity rise to attract users in their place. Here is a taste of what I’ve been working on over the past few months and crystallizing (hurriedly) in the last few days:
The forums have been updated with blogging software. Users can input links to their own blogs, import RSS feeds of their blog, or create blogs hosted by Fuwanovel itself. This includes official/featured blogs such as the Recognition blog, or the Dev Boards Update blog (which is open to all the project managers in the dev boards to post freely on), or the Help Wanted blog (which similarly allows project managers to post freely when they’re looking to fill a position). All these blogs will have their own RSS feeds and will be incorporated into the corresponding Fuwazette categories. (Saving Tiago, Zaka and others time and hassle) ^ this blog functionality will have a lot of cool implications (such as for private clubs and the VN readers club!) The FuwaReviews site will now be reviews.fuwanovel.net, and it will be much more robust than simply a blog of the team’s reviews: I have negotiated with ~a dozen prominent VN bloggers and received the green-light to incorporate feeds of their VN reviews into the reviews site. I plan to continue to reach out to more bloggers and build this base. Things are looking pretty positive. I’ve been in productive talks with several OELVN devs (if I’ve talked to you about this, please don’t name names) and it looks like we’ll be able to form productive agreements for early-access game reviews, interviews, and PR access (we get emails/rss feeds of exclusive insider info to publish on our blogs before they announce it publicly). I can’t finalize these agreements until the full “.net” site is live, but it looks promising! I believe that I’ve arranged for an interview with [two gaming site writers/freelancers]. The interview would be about the VN landscape, Fuwanovel’s history, and how we plan to grow/expand in the future. No firm commitments, yet, but I’m in talks. There is another possible opportunity for an interview in a similar but more tech-focused major online blog as well. The front site redesign team is going to be launched for-reals in the next 72 hours. I’ve made a template for, and several examples of, mock-ups (which are flawed, but conversation starters), and I’m busy this afternoon uploading useful assets/psd resources to be available and ready for the team. Emi has agreed to be our secret-genius weapon, which means we can’t fail : P We’ve purchased a forums add-on which will allow us to use forums content in clever ways in our other websites. I’ve started putting together some ideas of ways it could integrate with the front site (including “FuwaScores” of games where fuwanovel users can score the games they’ve played and track their VN playing history), but its scope is much larger than that one implementation. With Nay’s help, I hope to come up with lots of cool ways to use this. Part of my discussion with devs is their agreement to a “releases” feed which would track OELVN releases and which could easily integrate TL releases on PC, but also on iOS and Android. I’ve been talking to several of the mobile app store VN devs, and they’ve almost universally been enthusiastic about the idea ^ This would be incorporated into the games section and a “What have I missed?” section which would list the important recent news and releases Fuwanovel Academy – the evolution of the “ultimate VN starter kit” idea – will be a section on the front site which will explain VNs, help players get started with a VN within 10 minutes of starting reading, and provide a lot of advanced information about the VN landscape, “movers and shakers” in the western VN world, and (hopefully!) some exclusive (read: slightly longer than normal) demos from our dev allies Obviously added on top of this is outreach to TL groups and OELVN teams to get them to use the Fuwanovel dev boards and/or the updates feed Expansion of the creative corner and dev boards
Last of all, I’d like to mention that our host of the past two years has been very generous to us. I’ve passed along our gratitude for the extra nine months he’s given us to put our ducks in a row, and I want the community to know he’s making the transition very easy for us and being very supportive.

No matter what we do, we're going to lose some of our traffic and our userbase. I’m convinced this is a necessary decision (if a painful and hard one), and that we’re going to make it through this. People can say a lot of things about Fuwanovel, but nobody can deny that we have staying power.

Thank you for your time. I realize this is a lot, and it’s overwhelming. Please don’t be afraid to speak up or ask questions.

Honestly, this is just your taste. There's nothing thematically wrong with either of these issues. Most people like Kyouske and don't want him to be Maou that's the intended dramatic intention of the novel. Is he or isn't he? With the "He isn't" being the reward for people who want to see him with Haru.

Also, Haru overcoming her inability to play the violin is also a plot point. The fact that this comes at the denouement instead of earlier is just a simple literary device of book-ending character development. It's introduced early that she cannot do this because of her trauma, which leads to her obsession with revenge, and at the end when she has given up revenge and healed from her trauma, she picks it up and it's inferred she did it because it was the one thing she could do for Kyouske when she couldn't do anything else. It's romantic.

I'm not saying it's wrong for you not to appreciate these points, but this has nothing to do with "hype". For many people, they really enjoyed these plot developments (and i consider myself one of them).

Roach reacted to Diamon in Lucid9 (available for free on Steam)
Hello everyone! After nearly a month, I believed it would be good to give some news about the project^^

    So :
    - First, the main page was updated with the new character profiles (+ some extras). The presentation style is different than what we had before and more generally the rest of the thread, it kinda hints at what type of UI we are planning to have for the game (You won't likely find that in the next demo though).

    - Second, project is still running well. I have to say plenty of assets have been created over winter break (I won't be putting everything on the thread though of course, because I don't want to spoil people! ). Writing word count so far is around 140k words which is quite an achievement in itself! The writing for the next demo is nearly ready (part of it still has to go through some editing), it is supposed to have around 80k words, but it might change depending on some factors. To compare, the current day 1 demo has ~7k words.

    - Concerning art, most of the sprites are ready (except a few ones that are being worked on). All heroines have now 2 poses! (Yay! ). It is not very likely that we'll find the time to create more than one or two CG for the next demo. I really wanted to have one intro CG for each heroine, but I guess it will have to wait for later x)
Backgrounds are a tedious things to work on (especially since we decided to change BG style, we ended up having to redo all the previous backgrounds), but they are looking really awesome thanks to Yuuko, here, take a sneak peek

We are still looking for people to help with backgrounds by the way, you don't have to be an artist for that (even though some experience in drawing might help), we just need people with decent-good photoshop skills! (More info on this thread : https://forums.fuwanovel.net/index.php?/topic/7998-recruiting-for-the-lucid9-project/)

    - Music is ready as well, except for two tracks that are being worked on.

    - Main menu, logo and GUI are being overhauled. Even though probably none of them will be final (=used for the final release), it should be more representing of the general theme of Lucid9, and (hopefully) prettier!

So as you can see, we're getting close to a new demo release. However, I haven't announced anything yet, and there's a reason for that. It's mainly that Greg, our programmer has personal issues (life happens, it sometimes can't be helped), and it forced us to delay the release date of the 2nd demo since we believe the engine is still not good enough from a reader's perspective. (Basically, you'd play under the same conditions of the current demo, with very minimalist options, and since the duration of the 2nd demo will probably be much longer, it would be very uncomfortable to play the demo). I'm deeply sorry for those who might be awaiting the next demo impatiently, I will have to ask them to wait a little more! While we are waiting for our programmer's situation to improve enough so he can resume working with us, we are also working on alternatives for the worst case scenario (aka if he has to definitely leave the project), so rest assured, a second demo will be released eventually, that I can promise!

Finally, I have some questions for the people reading this post and interested in the project.
    1. Do you believe the description of the synopsis is fine? Would you like it to be more detailed?
    2. For those who might have visited the blog, or for those who frequent it regularly, what kind of blog posts would you like to see?
    3. Do you want the Lucid9 project to be more "interactive" with the Fuwanovel community (AMA, polls, events, backstage secrets revealed...)? If you'd like to see a specific type of event created by us on Fuwanovel, don't hesitate to say so!
    4. Besides update posts, what kind of posts would you like to read in this thread?
    5. Would you be interested in having us trying to take Fuwanovel's people opinion concerning ideas we had, have, or might have considering the development of Lucid9? (Doesn't mean it will necessarily be about writing and plot) Keep in mind that even though I'm asking that, it doesn't mean that it will happen for sure in the future.

Thanks in advance for the people willing to take some time answering those questions! And thanks for all the people supporting us with messages in this thread! It really, really means a lot for us.

    Hello everyone. Façade here.
I am the lead scenario writer of Studio Quest, an upcoming Visual Novel / RPG production Studio. We are proud to announce that yesterday, we have successfuly contracted a professional Japanese Mangaka known as Ito Masushita to join our team! We are planning to create a visual novel with him as the art director, and release it on kickstarter within the next four months. You can check him out here.

A sample of his most recent sketch:

As you can clearly see, Japanese artists differentiate themselves from most artists within the EVN crowd by their professional approach to anatomy, combined with extensive experience in both lineart and intrinsic attention to small details. Hence, these elements combined make Japan a bastion of the animation industry and the producer of some of the best Visual Novels ever created.

Did I tell you Ito has created many games within the professional Japanese development scene and also has a major degree in 2D animation? He will also be creating the OP for the said VN! Combined with our musician, Gian Marco La Serra, I believe we can potentially release a project that can truly redefine the standards of English Visual Novels and perhaps shatter many negative stereotypes surrounding it as well.

So, why am I writing all this? To just show off how awesome we are? Of course not!

To celebrate and commemorate this occasion, I'd like to let the users of fuwanovel decide the subject matter of the Visual Novel Ito Masushita will be drawing for. I feel this is a really great way to contribute back to the community and really show how a combination of intelligent opinions can form something beautiful. Your opinions and input will be factored into the story, influencing major decisions such as genre and characterization.

If you'd like to participate, all you need to do is to comment on tis post answering this question:

If you could direct a visual novel of your choice with the best staff available, what would it be like and why?

Since there is much more flexibility in story compared to art, I'd be really grateful (and it'd definitely be most helpful!) if you could focus your suggestions to plot--and story--related elements.
What kind of While all opinions will be taken into account, I might have a reward for the most comprehensive / insightfull responses......

    *insert evil laugh here*

    LET THE SUGGESTIONS BEGIN!!!!!!

    Have fun, everyone~

I actually did that pretty often. Which is why I didn't find him annoying.
When I said I can somewhat relate to him, it meant that I was a bit (just a bit) similar to him. Never mind a shop, there was a time when  I was standing in front of my friend's house for about half an hour, deciding if I should call him or not. In the end, I didn't and decided to go home. Because I was too scared.
I also read all of the them in Steins;Gate. It was really interesting

People who say who can skip learning Kanji by using machine-assisted stuff like Jparser are utterly insane.

Alot of Jparser entries have tons and tons of fluff that only adds to confusion when you're trying to figure out what a words means in the context of a sentence, and apart from the fact that you're learning the word as some arbitrary brief translation into english (which is bad itself), alot of entries in edict are badly explained and poorly worded.

Of course, jparser (and edict itself) is pretty unavoidable when you start out, but the more you learn the more you quickly realize it should only be used as a reference, not a gospel. When you learn enough you REALLY want to switch into J-J dictionaries so you can learn the real nuance of a word. I see way more mistakes by japanese learner not because of poor fundamentals with grammar, but because edicts terrible method of explaining words just leads people astray and harms them more in the long run.
