Denpasoft/Sekai Project Shop is region-restricted?
Acrylic7 replied to waginau's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Maybe for certain games, Vietnam is in their "list of barred jurisdiction area because of certain reason". Just my 2cents though. -
This toxic attitude regarding translations needs to end.
Acrylic7 replied to Happiness+'s topic in Visual Novel Talk
I agree. For me, fan TL even though bad is still much better than no TL at all. I really appreciate all the efforts. But that's not the case when it's commercial. There's a reason why it's commercial. -
Currently playing Princess Waltz. Not as bad as I thought first.

Better that SakuraGame doesn't localize another game. Very very unfortunate that the Japanese company doesn't really care about this.

What are the things that you hate the most in VNs?
Acrylic7 replied to MIUUZICK's topic in Visual Novel Talk
1. The ending doesn't solve the mystery. 2. The story is predictable 3. The bad guy is not sympathetic 4. The story only focus on romance (for me, even romance still have to be unique) 5. The story doesn't make sense -
How can we make visual novels more popular in the west?
Acrylic7 replied to bakauchuujin's topic in Visual Novel Talk
As long as fans or company keep translating Japanese language VN to English language VN and fans keep buying and or write article or review about Visual Novel games. it can only become more and more popular. It's pity that eroge or nukige VN sells more than story focused VN. -
I have bias for Chuunige. I can tolerate bad translation but not terrible translation. Hope it's the former not the later.

Sol Press just announced the Daresora series
Acrylic7 replied to bakauchuujin's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Personally I will be wary of Visual Novel with volumes release. I am afraid that someday the writer or the company decide to abandoned the second and next part like Magical Eyes Red is for Anguish, Fault Milestone, etc. I know it's not fair to say that they abandoned it. But if they don't release it after a long time without reasonable information, I consider that the next part have been abandoned rather than have my hopes up and be disappointed. -
How to differentiate between EVN and JVN ? Thanks

What do you do to motive yourself to continue reading
Acrylic7 replied to M1rv3's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I certainly can understand the feeling. For me, if I cannot continue one particular game, I just stop it. No need to force myself to continue at the risk of being burn out. But if I don't feel motivate to play the game, then I stop for the time being until I can motivate myself again. Playing game especially visual novel game should be fun. If I want to be forced to do something I don't like, it is "WORK" not playing game. -
I really like the epilogue too. Especially Maou last sentence that "Curse me if you want but hatred is what ... No I suppose love can too ....." It really has deep meaning. One of the best VN that I've played.
-
No, I still have many VN back logs. Only open the game to listen the music.

Just play Fate/Hollow Ataraxia until last chapter. But cannot finish it since I cannot trigger event to advance the plot. Anyway, I already watch the rest via youtube. Really like the ending. Make me want to play Fate Stay Night even though I already watch the anime years ago.
-
For me, I enjoy Chuunige, scify, mystery, military, etc, as long as you have plots that interesting. Moege is okay as long as romance is not the only elements.
-
I like bonus content especially side story like in Himawari and Muv Luv (even though it was sold separately). Preferably side story that give more interesting insight about main story.
-
Personally I doubt Steam players won't notice and be happy if 75% of VN being randomly deleted . I imagined they think like "OMG, it was said 50 hours of gameplay, but we can finished it in 15 hours, WTF happening???" But maybe that's just me because I like to read about VN description. I see many reviews on Steam for certain VN about translations quality. Maybe because the translations was too horrible.

Muv Luv simply because it's the only trilogy that I've played
-
No, as long as it was not too easy and making sense. I mean I don't like twist that come out of nowhere or story that was very easy to be predicted. No, as long as the twist explained clearly in the end and the story was enjoyable. Heck, I find remember 11 twist more enjoyable than ever17 twist. I know it was not explained in the end but I still can find the explanation via wiki. So it counts. Still I hate the ending. For me I have no preference, as long as the story was great. But if I have to choose maybe I will choose the second one, simply because I am too lazy to think. I just want to enjoy the story Personally for me, yes. I mean it doesn't have to be clearly explained. But I have to understand the mystery about what's happening (at least via wiki). I have read several mystery visual novel. The story is good but there's no end and I have more question at the end than the beginning (worse, there's no explanation via wiki). So, I give it 6 stars instead of 8 stars. For me, its significant because I don't recommend visual novel with rating below 7. Well, it could be a little annoying but I think I just have to accept it.

You remind me when I really want to play JRPG and there's no english localization. I try it for several minutes and after that abandoned it, simply because I play the game for the story. I think it's the same with visual novel. In fact I think it's worse since there's no game play. But at the same time, once I also forced myself to read online manga with google translate using romaji. For better or worse, I think I can grasp 30% of the story. Of course, both of them cannot really be compared since for game, you need much more efforts. And I doubt I can do it even using google translation.

How much reading (in a VN) is too much?
Acrylic7 replied to milkteebaby's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Personally I think if the text / scene contribute to the plot or character development, then I don't think it can be too much. -
For me, 10 = great story, great character, great music, GREAT ending, leave long lasting impression 9 = great story, great character, good music, GOOD ending 8 = good story, good character, good music, good ending 7 = ordinary story, ordinary character, ordinary music, ordinary ending 1 - 6 = Not recommended. Of course, I also have soft spot and bias for certain things. Sometimes certain things weighed heavier than others.

Things that you want to see less of in Visual Novels
Acrylic7 replied to Ranzo's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I want to see less predictable ending. -
I think forced route is okay if there's reason for it. Forced route that I've played Cinderella phenomenon. The last ending is the best.
