As for the VN community... if you stay here long enough, prepare for lots of obnoxious people. I'd argue it's not as bad as in anime community, but VN community is still pretty obnoxious in its own way. There are good folks here and there, but the core community is... well, you'll see for yourself. Don't think of all of us as bad, though. There are some genuinely good folks here.
Also, if you want to know why I laughed... the reason is actually pretty dumb. I couldn't help it because you said "...teaching newcomers the importance of VNs especially Kamiges" in a non-ironic, non-sarcastic way. I mean, you said it in such a serious way I couldn't help not to laugh xD Perhaps it's because of what @Kirashi said. You're a newcomer, so you probably look at it in a different way, but for us older folks it just looks silly, such a statement xD
A word of advice... never use the word "kamige" unless it's in jest or something (or you want to emphasize how much you liked something). I know this because I sometimes tend to overuse this word myself. Don't use it too seriously. And don't make science of it. The word basically belongs to the slangy jargon used in this community. Just don't use it in a serious fashion, and everything will be okay xD

Yeah, they did. It was overall not a great localization. I compared their Miazora work with Umikana, and I came to the conclusion that Umikana was a far better localization. Not perfect, but still a lot better. What's more, Umikana doesn't have adult content at all, so it's not a censored localization either. I recommend adding it on your wishlist. As for Miazora... I can't promise I'll ever uncensor it. What's more, my goals go far beyond just uncensoring. I still work on the original text by Moenovel from time to time since I am not a fan of how they translated stuff. If no one else comes up to translate the H, I'll do it myself the best way I can.

I really would like to meet more VN gamers and establishing more healthy relationships with them. My server also has another purpose, focusing on teaching newcomers the importance of VNs especially Kamiges. 
If anyone is interested, I have 218 members (numbers isn't that big if you include afk ones) anyway, whether joining or not the choice is yours.

Not sure if it's obscure enough, but one title that came to my mind is H2O. Another one would be AQUA. I don't think I've seen people talking about these two. At least not often.

How can the VN be labeled "Medium (10 - 30 hours)" if you have a whooping 60k+ lines?! For comparison purposes, Miazora is around 45k lines (labeled "long" on VNDB), and the most complete version of Cocoro Function is around 57k of lines (also labeled "long" on VNDB). This shit makes 0 sense.
Anyway, I remembered this thread as I was thinking about grabbing scripts from older G-Collection VNs. Sadly, yeah, it seems the scripts are always encrypted differently, and there doesn't seem to be any tool that can deal with them universally. What a pain in the ass, sigh...

Not sure what you are basing this on, but as someone working in the industry I disagree. Sure, some companies pay low rates, but there's equally many, or more, who pay pretty good. Some pay very good. You obviously can't get too much information about specific rates as an outsider due to NDAs and such, so whatever information you have to go on is probably just from specific cases of drama etc in the community, which can hardly be used as the actual industry standard. 
It's absolutely possible to make a good living working in the VN loc scene. Many people do. Just know your own worth and have the guts to say no if you get offered a terrible rate. 
Uh, once again I must disagree. In fact, most of the big names in the translation industry right now came from fan translation, and did so thanks to loc companies offering very nice deals bringing them onboard. I myself got started with a fan translation, and I know many others who did too, none of which were "screwed" by loc companies. Tbh, if you are good at what you do and you have a partial translation for a game, contact a loc company, chances are you will "get lucky." It's... not as hard as people seem to think. Very little screwing involved / 10.

Yeah, well, that's what fan translation means, dude. Hello???   I think they're partially at fault for this. They could announce games only when they're closer to completion, not run update blogs, and not create things like discord servers where they're more easily exposed to toxicity.   I imagine it's the same for something like anime. Anyhow who studies Translation will have their teachers tell them that literary translation pays the least. It's just the way things are.
Not sure about this either. There are plenty of decent EVNs which are recognized by the community. But there's also a ton of games that are simply amateurish and sometimes try too hard to be Japanese.
This is BS. There is more stuff being released nowadays than ever before. I've talked with several Japanese learners who say that if VNs were translated at the same pace as they are now back when they started, they would never have started learning Japanese.
Had to re-read this a couple times to actually understand what you were trying to get at. Honestly, tell me what matters most: the amount of people you can talk to, or the quality of the discussions? I am completely fine with sharing my opinions with a restrict group of friends, though now and then I feel the urge to write a review or two. Perhaps you're the one at fault since you seem to enjoy sharing every little opinion you have with the wide world.

Sorry gents, but due to some IRL complications, I have to leave this project. Don't worry though, I'll be leaving it in the hands of a good friend of mine.

A shame Jack has to leave, but real life takes priority so it's understandable.
Anyway, I'll be taking over as main editor and project leader of the restoration, and right away I'll be making some changes:
We will do two patches: One with the original translation + H-scenes, and another doing a TLC pass for the whole game.
After reading it for a bit, I realized right away that the base translation is atrocious and the inaccuracies are abundant, so we've decided to go the IMHHW route and do a TLC pass over the whole game. This game DESERVES a proper translation, and not the butchered version TokyoToon/Harukaze shat out. But we also decided to split said TLC effort from the H-scenes patch, so as to not make people wait for it (it would make me happy if you did, though).
There will be some style changes too: We will use present tense for the narration. The great majority of visual novels are written in present tense because they're meant to be seen from the eyes of the protagonist, and while I do agree that past tense does look a bit better than present tense if done properly, in this case it was obviously NOT done properly, and I don't believe myself good enough to try.
Regarding Noratoto 2: The hacker said he'll start working on it, but I don't want to get ahead of ourselves. This project's been going slow but steady, so let's not rush it.
The translation's been stalled for a bit because our TL has been sick, but we should start picking up speed again soon.
So yeah, the H-scene patch is still months away, but we WILL see this restoration done.

Indeed, fanTL scene is much weaker than back in the day. Actually, it was sorta weak even during the time you guys were doing Konosora project. But now it's mostly gone (with a notable exception being Tsurezure Scans). There aren't many projects one could help out nowadays, sadly.
Also, yeah, real life is another obstacle. When you have a full time job or are studying, you don't have much time you can devote to a fanproject.
And then we come to point 3, which is what I was aiming at xD I was wondering if you were interested in doing it officially. But yeah, you have a point. Being a QC officially isn't that alluring. Considering everything, I am not surprised many official releases are poorly QCed. It's hard to blame these people knowing the circumstances. This is why the only main drive for doing VNs is passion. Other than that, I don't know why anyone would even bother.
