What are you reading? Untranslated edition
BookwormOtaku replied to Funnerific's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Started playing Kyonyuu Fantasy Gaiden 2 After and while I was skeptical about a continuation from what had been a satisfying conclusion to Lute and co.'s story this is looking to be a worthy sequel so far. While it sucks that we only have a few of the heroines in this (though the story does have a reasonable explanation for their absence...though damn I still miss Gladys ) the story's building up well especially in Ostashia's situation in being a dictatorship on the verge of self destruction and giving us a legit intimidating villain. Really interested to see in how this plays out and has me hopeful of more installments in Lute and co's story (which will probably focus on the country of Sultan next). -

Funbag Fantasy Released on Mangagamer
BookwormOtaku replied to Arcadeotic's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Okay, I still need to finish 2 if but I can say it's a remake of the second game and in all likelihood the true route is canon. The reason I say this is back when Gaiden 2 came out it made a reference to something major that happened in another route and not the original KF2's true route. 2 if's true route (what I've played of it so far) pretty much clears that up and as a remake I have to say it's proven to be the superior version in every way with significantly better character writing. -
Funbag Fantasy Released on Mangagamer

I've only had time to play a little bit (*shakes fist at work schedule) and it's interesting to read it again in a language I fully understand, plus it's nice to see what lines that are mentioned in passing become plot points in later games. On the other hand since I know how things are going to play out I admit I'm a bit impatient to get the common route done so I can get to the more interesting stuff. -
What Video Games Are You Playing Right Now?

Just started playing God Eater Rage Burst and it's been fine so far, my only real complaint is the lock seems almost useless especially since it doesn't help you aim your gun much. -
Finally finished Kara no Shojo 2...overall I liked it, but not as much as the first game. I'll go into more detail once I give it a review (sorry I haven't been doing those much this year but that happens when you have to move twice for work), but I can say one problem I have is the ending:

I don't mind as long as the protagonist is still written in a likable way like Yamato from Majikoi or Lute and Ruin from the Kyonyuu Fantasy games. I do mind if the protagonist is an asshole kind of pervert like the protagonist of Super Secret Sexy Spy

Came across this news: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2016-09-01/blazblue-centralfiction-game-will-not-have-english-dub/.105970 I admit I'm probably one of the disappointed as I liked the dubbing for the series, Patrick Seitz really nailed it as Ragna for one and Mela Lee does just as good a voice for Rachel as Kana Ueda. Still Aksys did say they'd consider a dub DLC if interest was shown: They're probably referring to this fan petition: https://www.change.org/p/aksys-games-support-the-dub-for-blazblue-central-fiction Feel free to sign it if you enjoyed the dub or spread the word. Whether it helps change Aksys' mind or not is anyone's guess but still...Then again there is the inevitable expanded edition too...

Persona 5 for me. While I do intend to play XV, I'm not going to be in any rush to play it. No it's not because I hated XIII, I actually liked it once the party actually got together and started doing stuff plus the battle system was pretty fun though I have a lot of problems with it such as the slow start and the villains pretty much sucking. I'm more interested in Persona 5 since it comes off as better put together while FFXV has some things that have me a little wary of paying full price for it and they are: 1) The development cycle: Considering how long this game's been in development and changed from being an FF13 tie in to a main number has me worried as to how that effects the plot and also whether the gameplay would be good. 2) The tie in material: With a movie and anime ova coming out prior I'm worried this will be another case of me having to look at other stuff besides the game for plot elements to make sense. 3) Not sure if the open world will be worth exploring. What I've seen doesn't have me convinced it'll be better than the open world from the Xenoblade games.

You know a crossover between the Trails games and Tales games would be interesting, and considering Bamco did publish the Gagharv trilogy PSP ports it may not be completely impossible (though a couple characters showing up in the next Project X Zone is more likely). Then again considering the direction Cold Steel's going maybe we'll see some Trails characters in a Super Robot Wars game someday...

What Are You Watching: Movie and TV Show Edition
BookwormOtaku replied to Zenophilious's topic in General Discussion
Saw Suicide Squad today and it was okay. Not as bad as alot of reviews made it out to be as Will Smith does carry much of the movie and there are some good character scenes, especially that scene in the bar late in the movie. Would only recommend seeing it matinee. -
Badass, genius, overpowered protagonist.
BookwormOtaku replied to MasteRofNumberS's topic in Anime/Manga Recommendations
For anime and manga: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series (though what you want would be at the third series, Stardust Crusaders as Phantom Blood has a slow start and in Battle Tendency Joseph can be a bit annoying at times) Hellsing Yu Yu Hakusho Flame of Recca GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka scryed (anime only, the manga version..isn't good(though to be fair the series' ending sucks) -
A Visual Novel where your Heroines could be raped/NTR/Cheating
BookwormOtaku replied to Comfy's topic in Recommendations
I've heard heard really good things about Lilim's Blue series and I did think Dark Blue was decent but would have been way better if it had been longer. Black Cyc's Gore Screaming Show has what you want in some of its bad ends. Speed's Kansen series sort of has what you want too, though I'm not sure if it counts as NTR if it's because of an infection... Edit: There's also the bad ends in elf's Shin Mikagura Shojo Tanteidan Some of the bad ends in Caligula's Shinsetsu Ryouki no Ori feature that, and there are a couple of similar bad ends in the second game but if there is one thing the first game did better (and more of) than the second was the bad end ero scenes. Though in every other aspect the second game is superior. -
You really should check out the Extra Credits spinoff where the main guy for the show Dan tries out Dark Souls. It's interesting to see his growing fascination with the series as he plays and gets better at it (he starts out playing along with the show's researcher but goes it on his own at the 25th video). It's an interesting combination of amusing and frustrating at the things he misses, but it does make for a good payoff when/if he learns. He's actually on Dark Souls 2 right now...
