  1. I was extremely saddened to hear the news of Alan Rickman's passing. First David Bowie a few days ago and now him. It's been a pretty sad start to 2016 indeed. I'm definitely going to be watching an Alan Rickman movie marathon in honour of his life in the near future just like I did with Robin Williams when he passed. R.I.P Alan Rickman and David Bowie, may you find happiness in the afterlife whatever that may be.
  2. Thanks for confirming that with me! I'll be sure to bear Tenso in mind for when the time comes for me to order something from there.
  3. Ah right, I see! Thanks for clarifying that, I did notice the phrase 'Tenso' but I initially assumed it was a shipping option from Amazon itself. So I take it that it's safe to purchase VN's that have no 18+ content directly from Amazon JP, but if they do, I'll have to go through Tenso?
  4. I really like the art style of this game, you're doing a fantastic job so far and when I have the time I'm going to read up more about your project and keep my eye on it for when it's finished. Nun looks terrifyingly omnipotent! The art has very good quality to it.
  5. Great work so far! The image quality looked very good, the style is very fine. The character facial expressions looked perfectly fine to me. The only thing that bothered me was the unnecessary movement of the arms going in and out from his breathing. The chest expanding in and out are fine but I feel that there's a little too much emphasis on his arms moving. Keep up the good work!
  6. Wow! Thank you very much for these guides you've made, I've bookmarked them all to read when I know I can commit to learning. Skimming this guide briefly, I can already clearly see that you've put an insane amount of hard work into this. Thanks for the download link, I am actually interested in looking into this and see how the creation process works. Who knows, maybe thanks to your guide, I may even create my own VN some day. Again, I thank you very much for your hard work!
  7. I'm currently playing If My Heart Had Wings that I picked up from the Steam Christmas Sales with the restoration patch. I'm really loving it so far and it's even got me interested in gliding from when it explains about how things work. I just have Amane's route (that I'm doing right now) and Ageha's route and then I'm done.
  8. Thanks for the recommendations, I'll be sure to check them out! I never realised I could just go to the Japanese version of Amazon (I shop the UK version all the time) and order from there! My main problem will probably be that I have to remember to calculate the VAT I'll be forced to pay. /sigh It really is beautiful! I haven't really looked at what a VN looks like as a physical copy since the one's I own are all digital. But I did imagine in order to play more VN's legally (I'm not comfortable torrenting anything) I'll have to order some from Japan so I actually have the game to use the fan-translated patches for. That VN looks interesting to me and catches my eye from its packaging. I'll have to look it up!
  9. I'm currently watching High School of the Dead. I've only watched the first three or four episodes so far since I've been watching it together with my girlfriend, and we've been busy watching other things lately. But we'll continue it real soon!
  10. I started reading the Prison School manga shortly after the recent anime series finished. Currently trying to get to where the anime left off. I'm really hoping they'll do a second season for it as I found it hilariously entertaining!
  11. I picked up Farcry 4 during the Steam Christmas Sales and started playing it last week. I'm really enjoying it so far, I'm really looking forward to Farcry Primal and seeing the improvements from the third game to the fourth has my hopes up high. I'm even tempted to buy the game full price as long as it isn't £49.99 on Steam if my budget allows it.
  12. I'm currently watching the new Ash VS Evil Dead that I've been waiting to happen for years. You know what? Was totally worth it! I'm so happy they finally did something new with Bruce Campbell. I've been watching it on the weekends with my girlfriend, we have a few more episodes left. I already hope they make another season!
  13. I'm so jealous of all the awesome stuff being posted on here! I was wondering if anyone could tell me of some trusted websites you can buy Japanese stuff from? I'd greatly appreciate it! I have a few anime figures I've received as gifts for birthdays and Christmases etc that I'll post pictures of in here when I'm home next and have the chance.
  14. I'm from the United Kingdom, England specifically. People always complain about the weather here, but I quite like it personally. The summers are actually pretty hot here, and the last few years we've even managed to be hotter than Spain! I don't like the summer however, it's too hot and sweaty and there's only so many layers of clothing you can remove. But in the winter, you can just keep adding layers until you're nice and toasty! Winter is definitely my favourite season.
  15. Ahahaha! Thanks for telling me how to pronounce your name, it's lovely. Hana... Ha...Na... Hanahanahanahanahana. Hana! I think I'll remember Hanako-- NA! HA-NA! Thank you for the welcoming conversation, Hana!
  16. Ahahaha! Thank you very much, ヤ... Err-- ヤミ... I'm sorry! What was your name again? Aha, how do you pronounce your name by the way? I'm very curious! You hit the nail on the head there with Katawa Shoujo! That was my very first visual novel I read back in college years ago, and regrettably I only finished Hanako's route because I was just so satisfied with her route that I didn't want to play the others any time soon because of it. I do plan to pick the game back up eventually though and complete the other routes, I recently got a friend to play it as he was interested in starting to read some VN's since I've been reading the one's I've bought on Steam recently. I'll pick KS back up once I've finished reading the new VN's I got last Christmas! It really was a beautiful game, that's why I recommended it to my friend, he's saving Hanako for last since I've already done that one and praised it so highly to him, aha!
  17. 1) Handle (the one I use or plan to use): Forgetful Frank - FF for short (Thanks Nashetania!) 2) Positions I can fill: Quality Control/Proofreading- I am very confident in my English writing and proper grammar and spelling. So any work you have available that I can volunteer for that requires me to go through your written English text to ensure it is of good quality is where I will work best. I want to provide professional standard quality of writing to a good fan-translated VN project that has worked hard in translating and editing. Out of the VNs I've read so far with a fan-translated patch/restoration, I have always spotted several grammar, spelling mistakes and typos that I could have corrected if only I proof read it first. I have also noticed when reading the H-scenes, most of them seem to suffer a huge quality drop in writing when compared to the normal scenes, I aim to put in as much effort into ensuring the quality of writing is consistent across the board, H-scenes or no. 3) Types of projects (VNs) preferred: Practically anything that has a decent story. However I don't want to work on a VN that is primarily Yaoi, Loli or Yuri, because I don't have any interest in those genres. I can look past all three genres if the VN only has one or two routes involving those genres. But if the VN primarily focuses on them, I'm sorry but I just won't be interested and I wouldn't be able to guarantee I would be committed to your project. 4) Availability: Currently too busy to join any new projects. As of April 2016, I am apart of Arcadeotic's Euphemic Translation team as a proofreader. 5) (VN's most interested in producing an FTL for: Currently being new to visual novels in general, I don't really have a preferred VN that I would like to work on specifically since I'm not familiar with them enough. And honestly I don't think I ever will be, as I'll only ever read VNs in English, which means they would already have been translated. So my answer to this question is pretty much the same answer to question 3). I will be happy to work on pretty much anything minus the genres mentioned in question 3), that has a dedicated team doing their work properly and the VN you're working on has good writing and an interesting story. 6) Motivation for joining in on FTL: During the Steam Christmas Sales 2015, I purchased a few VNs and played them throughout all of December. At first I was disappointed when I learned that the VNs I purchased were actually cut and I wasn't receiving the proper story and experience it was intended to have. I don't really care for H-scenes, but if they're in there, I don't want them cut out, otherwise I am missing a small important part of the story. I shortly discovered fan-translations and restoration patches, which of course I tried out, and I really enjoyed them! I have since wanted to return my gratitude to the community who helps deliver us good quality fan-translated VN's voluntarily giving up some of their free time to do so. I am very confident in my English writing ability and even though I may not be able to read/write Japanese, I really want to offer my knowledge of proper English to help deliver professional quality writing for a fan-translated VN project that is putting in the effort worthy of it. I'm so grateful to the people in this community who helps bring good quality fan-translated VN patches for free out of their hard labour of love, and I want to help return the favour. Since I've noticed several grammar and spelling mistakes as well as typos in all the fan-translated VNs I've read so far, I strongly believe I can help bring higher quality writing to any project that will have me. 7) Conditions* (any additional conditions, under which I will or won't work): I will only volunteer to work if everyone on the project is putting in the right effort required and that is expected for anyone who wants to deliver a good fan-translated VN. The translators have to be competent enough to translate well and actually understand Japanese to the point that they can provide good quality translations so the editor's can write good English writing that I can then ensure is properly written with correct English grammar and punctuation with no typos and sentences that actually make sense in English. I promise to put in the effort required to ensure your project has professional quality writing, if everyone else is doing their job correctly and efficiently. I also require everyone to be friendly and treat each other with respect, and that the project leader does not act like a dictator who will not listen to reason and constructive criticism. I want to be a part of a project who works as a team, and not on the whims of one person. I also humbly ask that you keep in mind that I currently suffer from extreme Social Anxiety Disorder which has hindered me from currently working a real job, which is the reason I have a lot more free time on my hand currently to volunteer my services to a project. This means that I will struggle to talk to people in voice chat applications, however writing via instant messaging isn't a problem at all for me and much preferred. As I get to know you I will be able to join in on voice communications in time if that is what you require, but if that is the case all I ask is a little patience at first as I get used to you and more comfortable. Final Words: Thank you very much for reading about my skills, and I hope you can offer me a chance to give back to this community what it has given me after reading fan-translated VN's myself. I really want to get involved in many VN projects and help ensure your writing is of the highest possible quality before you release it. Projects Completed Edited and proofread the first volume of Dergonu's Light Novel he wrote called 'Kitsune and Me'. Check it out if you like a bit of Yuri and Fox-girls! You can also read a little about it and find its direct link on its page on my blog here. Helped proofread the first project for Euphemic Translation's Bishoujo Mangekyou: A Girl's Cursed Legend, which you can actually check out here.
  18. Ahahaha! Thank you very much, Kawasumi! Thank you, nohman! I hope to be around, I'm really enjoying myself in this community so far! Thank you DarkZedge! I'm already really enjoying my time so far in this community! Ahahaha! Hello and thank you, Nashetania! ...I- I love it! Please do call me 'FF'! Hello and thank you very much, Dergonu! It's very nice to meet you too, thank you for making me feel very welcomed. It's always comforting to know of someone who understands the struggles when it comes to anxiety, thank you for your kind words and I'll be sure to ask any questions that come to mind! P.S-- Dergonu, I love your Nekopara signature! I feel so welcomed by the community of Fuwanovel, thank you everyone; truly, who read my introduction and welcomed me. I really appreciate it!
  19. I know it's a bit late... But Happy New Year! (I totally forgot) But in actuality, I only joined this community yesterday. My New Year Resolution is to get back into my old workout routines I used to do a few years ago, and continue to fight my Social Anxiety Disorder I started seeking help with back at the end of November after secretly suffering with it for almost a decade. Saying that, I recently added another one to my list. Which is to be involved in the development of a fan-translated VN by volunteering myself for the position of QC since I am very confident in my English writing and grammar. I'm very excited to get involved in something, I'm currently waiting to hear back from my application to help the Witch's Garden Translation Project, so fingers are crossed!
  20. Pleasure to meet you The Striker! Thank you very much.
  21. Hi, I'm Forgetful Frank! Wait... Didn't I just say that in the title? Oops! I forgot Aha, as you can probably tell by my name, I can be quite a forgetful person... Anyway, I stumbled across this section in the forums and thought I'd like to try and introduce myself. I'm currently as of 12th of January 2016, twenty-three years old. I don't have a job at the moment due to suffering from severe Social Anxiety Disorder that caused an intense panic attack while working in the middle of last year which lead me to shut myself in my house for almost five entire months until finally seeking professional help earlier at the end of November. I'm currently working with professionals to get myself in a better more stable mental state enough to get back into work, but in the mean time I've had a lot of free time on my hands... Which lead me to start reading visual novels after purchasing a couple during the last Steam Christmas Sales. I was disappointed at first after learning content was cut from some of these VN's due to them having adult content. This bugged me because even though personally I'm not that bothered if there's adult content or not in a VN, the fact that they were cut and I was missing some key story moments bugged me. I then found out about fan-translation patches and restorations, which I tried out and I thoroughly enjoyed all the VN's I've read so far. In fact I was so happy with them that it actually inspired me to want to volunteer some of my free time to a similar project to help create one. This lead me to find the Witch's Garden Translation Project, which I have since applied for and even created a /r/visualnovel post in an attempt to help them get some much needed TLC applications in as they currently don't have any unfortunately. I applied for the position of a QC because I may not be able to understand any Japanese (although I wish to learn at some point in the future) I can at least help ensure that the writing has the proper grammar and spellings as I am confident in my English. When I was thinking about wanting to volunteer for a fan-translation project, that's exactly what I wanted to do for a project. I hope I do get the position of QC for this project, if I don't I won't have any hard feelings or anything, I'll just look out for another project I could offer my services to and keep an eye out for Witch's Garden as I am interested in playing it once it's finished. It stood out to me and looked interesting and fun, and that's why I applied for it. I want to help ensure that it has good quality writing that won't pull anyone out of the story when they're reading a sentence that doesn't make much sense or notice a mistake. I also plan to put in the same effort into VN's that include H-scenes, as I've already noticed from playing some fan-translations that the writing quality seemed to drop considerably during the H-scenes compared to the normal scenes, which made reading them more awkward than necessary. So as you can see, I'm quite motivated to get into a fan-translation project and offer my help in ensuring quality writing across the board, as I'm very confident I can provide that area of expertise since writing is my passion. I've been slowly working on a fantasy book series of my own for many years now. I have my own wordpress blog that I post fairly regularly about random things like me thoughts and opinions etc. Until towards the end of December this year, I had a small weekly blog series I called the 'Forgetful Thoughts' where I'd post my thoughts on random subjects such as films, TV shows, anime and books etc, but I've since put it on hiatus as I want to focus on other things this year. I'm very happy to have stumbled across this VN community and I look forward to reading a lot of VN's this year and hopefully help out with one. I am new to all of this so please go easy on me! Anyway, that's my introduction done; sorry that I wrote so much! If you happened to read all of that, I humbly thank you for taking an interest in who I am. I look forward to getting more involved with this community and learning more about the fan-translation VN development process, and of course discover more great VN's to read! Thanks again!
