  1. I watched this (Senryuu Shoujo) and it ended up being quite sweet and enjoyable. Glad I went back to pick it up, especially in a season of so much shit.
  2. Whilst not download and play on your windows, Jast allows you to play its classic games in a browser for free https://jastusa.com/classic-game-archive/ Asenheim has heaps more also web based. https://tss.asenheim.org/
  3. After watching the first episode when it was airing I wasn't really interested, but now that the season is over and everyone lists the couple in it as the best ship this season, I'm going to watch it all. It's only half length episodes anyway.
  4. Honourable mentions to Ayane Sakura of Iroha Isshiki fame, Nao Toyama of Yuigahama, and Ai Kayano of... everything. Agree with KanaHana doing innocent voices, especially Onodera. She's also in everything.
  5. Nope, just a feeling based on the material. Coincidentally I happen to be reading it at the moment. But I didn't know that about Akabei so I could be wrong.
  6. Absolutely. The goddess of voice acting. Her voice is so heart warming and has spanned a whole generation. From the only good character in the original To Heart, to the classic Tsundere Naru Narusegawa in Love Hina, right through to everyone's favourite cat goddess Tsubasa Hanekawa. Also Saori Hayami's voice is sexy AF, especially since oregairu and did this one amazing stretch in just one take in inou Battle
  7. 49 and even translating moege professionally. Most have burnt out long ago, but I'm still going strong. I started playing them 20 years ago.
  8. Chivalry of a Failed Knight (TV) Bakuman. (TV) Banner of the Stars (TV) Kokoro Connect (TV) Lovely Complex (TV) My Love Story!! (TV) Bloom Into You (TV) Boarding School Juliet (TV) (The) Familiar of Zero (TV) Golden Time (TV) Haruka Nogizaka's Secret (TV) His and Her Circumstances (TV) ItaKiss (TV) Kimi ni Todoke - From Me to You (TV) Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions! (TV) Momokuri (ONA) Please Teacher! (TV) ReLIFE (TV) Say "I love you." (TV) Tsuredure Children (TV) Emma: A Victorian Romance (TV) Just Because! (TV) Kamisama Kiss (TV) My Bride is a Mermaid (TV) Real Girl (TV) Record of Grancrest War (TV) Snow White with the Red Hair (TV) Twin Star Exorcists (TV) Wolf Girl & Black Prince (TV)
  9. Did you watch the kokoro connect OVAs? There is no need for a season 2 because they complete the series. You should have watched 17 episodes in total.
  10. There's plenty of stuff I dropped before even starting when I saw tags I didn't like or got halfway through the synopsis and realised it was clearly not for me, but the one that I did start playing and stopped within about a minute was Casual Romance Club which had this horrible multi window interface to a dating sim and was the first (and hopefully last) game where the Japanese VAs also voiced their lines optionally in Engrish so bad it was facedeskworthy. I think the Engrish was more of a turn off than the interface even though you could leave it in Japanese. I didn't even remember this but looking at the screenshot below it looks like all the names were localised into oblivion as well.
  11. I really enjoyed it and gave it an 8/10 myself. Very satisfying show, but there's no way I would watch it with my wife. Too ecchi and haremy if I recall correctly.
  12. No, it is brutally hard to watch. If you could not watch fullmetal alchemist then I suggest you skip made in abyss. It's overall got a positive outlook but the crossroads along the way are disturbing on a grand scale. I cried by eyes out on it.
  13. To Heart 2 is 4:3, translated, and a classic from 2005, but I'm not sure it fits many of your other criteria.
  14. I've been playing VNs for 20 years now and am the oldest active member on the forum. Most people consider my tastes boring despite that since I generally stick to moege and charage, and fairly vanilla in my taste spectrum for H content as well. I have this in my fan translator registration post: Note the exclusion of a lot of thematic material which the OP found adversely affected him. I've simply learnt to avoid any games with them in them, avoided discussing such games on the forum, avoided discussing the thematic material on the forum, and politely refused to translate anything with those in them. If I were to allow my distaste of those to alter my ability to enjoy playing VNs or discussing the aspects I do enjoy about VNs on this forum and elsewhere, I would be missing out on something I derive great pleasure from. I do, however, have great objection to most forms of censorship which is why I'm happy to simply tolerate its existence but don't feel obliged to debate the issues. I also do not believe the existence of such thematic material has changed my value system either, but I was not 15 when I started playing VNs, so I cannot say outright that it would not have affected me so at the time. Nonetheless, I think you're doing yourself a disservice -- if it's a medium and community you otherwise enjoy -- to break off completely. You've developed your own value system and now it's time to apply it without feeling guilt or remorse about it, but to work with the aspects you still enjoy. If your love of the art form has disappeared entirely, then that's a totally different issue, but that doesn't seem to be the issue so much as guilt from thematic material that is often associated with the art form. If you feel you are unable to dissociate the two then that's your decision.
  15. Rewatching Little Witch Academia with the family. What great fun this show was. Has anyone noticed how amazing the soundtrack is? It sounds like something from a feature length film.
  16. You've already read To Heart 2 and given it a 9. You have good taste but I don't have anything more to recommend.
  17. I'd go beyond that and say sometimes the translator even asks the editors for ideas while they're translating on how to tackle some issues where there is no good translation for a word, name, pun, meme, etc.
  18. Ungrateful was with respect to fan translations. If you pay for something you have the right to get what you paid for, but the problem is there are so few translators they get worked too hard with too short a deadline and in that scenario it's not their fault if quality drops off. Solpress does indeed have the honorific toggle option - which means we have to do even more translation for the same (very low) fee by the way. I'd love to translate in English instead of American, but that's not up to me. As for changing units, I flatly refuse to do that.
