related to 1) but should be made clearer: start small. A 2000 line project, or even a 10,000 line one, is much more doable than a 40k line monster. I guess if you legitimately can't find a short VN you're interested in that's a problem, but if your translator is reading VNs in Japanese - as they should be able to - then might have some decent recommendations.
If you can use your illustration skills to edit UI/text images, that'd be a useful outlet for your skills. Many projects need image editing.

I actually have a J-CAT score from this year that put me somewhere between N2 and N1 so I put N2 as my level. I'm guessing most people aren't even going to have taken the JLPT despite using the scale because why would you? It's money for nothing unless you have very specific needs or get the N1.
While it's fair to talk about speaking skills not being tested by the JLPT, it's usually not very relevant when translating, so it might be unusually appropriate for this survey to use a measure that ignores it www

I think "Doujinshi" would work, yeah. There technically are non-ero doujinshi that are usually not that far off from doujinshi, so no need to prefix it even if ero doujinshi are probably much more commonly translated. If you want to be extremely, autistically correct then doujinshi once referred to independently published poetry rather than what people would think of now (there's a joke in SZS about this), but nobody's going to think of that first. For even higher level autism, consider that there's also ero manga, which is generally a series with more of a story arc. But you could probably just count this as either manga or hope they click other or whatever.

This is unironically a 'genre' of translation which gets forgotten a lot imo. Many of my friends translating eroge also have some ero doujinshi tl experience. Doujinshi is generally considered not the same as manga, and part of it is that you get a lot more oneshots and a lot less pages per release plus no expectation of releasing monthly new chapters etc. The scenes aren't that strongly connected in my experience though I'm not an expert

Sanzen Sekai Yuugi is literally a chuuni otomege. With ero. I'm not sure if there's anything else like it.
Probably nobody will ever translate it officially because expensive voices or whatever, but who knows, maybe I'll do it by 2030 or so.

So yeah, uh... We at Memeshii Translations have released our translation of Ichigo & Kyuugo, a short comedic otome visual novel. Ichigo is heads over heels for Kyuugo and makes absolutely no effort to hide that. She goes as far as to casually propose to him, repeateadly tells him that she loves him, and goes fully on the offensive. We tried our best to preserve the humor from the original, with our best attempt to make it actually sound funny in English. I'd have to thank our <anonymous> editor for that, as he completely breathed life into the characters. While this is an otomege, I'm sure that it can be enjoyed by everyone. Although I'd note that there's usage of some uh...more mature language at times, so keep that in mind.

About 10-15 mins, depending on your reading speed. There a total of four paths, you can just do them in whatever order you want, but I believe I personally enjoyed top to bottom choices the most.
Q: Are there honorifics?
A: No.
Q: 'Dude' or 'onii-chan'?
A: There will be both, for the right reasons.
Q: Why did you choose to translate this?
A: Partially as a measure of my own skills, but also because I legitimately thought it was funny, so why not. Also because I believe that beginners should start with something small rather than tackling on a tens of thousands of lines project they will never finish. If you're wondering how Zaka happened to stumble upon this game, he detailed the events on the blog post.

After finishing off Shinimasu - which involves also translating the side story, the 325 line fd, and managing everything that comes after tl in the process - I'm looking to translate Shimaisou. It has a pretty different writing style which will allow me to write fancy which is something I enjoy. It's also a commercial product so if anyone's interested I might sell out.
I think I've generally adopted a slightly lower quality standard than the autistic level I started with, while still keeping it fairly high (and probably also gotten better while working on it which helps). I've probably also gotten better at getting work done in general; I think I used to be at 20 lines per hour, and I can probably do 50 now. I basically have the same philosophy as when I started - it should be okay English after I'm done with it, with the editor doing polish - but it's slightly tempered by knowing that if my speed is too low I'll just never get anything done.
You should ask HMN when I'm reading Muramasa but it's like still more than a year away I should think.
Yeah it's like #5 on my list or something. I was mostly being considerate because you seem kind of weak and 3k lines at least is plausible for a near-worthless individual such as me or quite probably you (you did quit halfway through a 120 line doujin) to finish unlike whatever the other games have.
