Sekai Project is genuinely concerned that fan backlash could scuttle this release.  How do I know this?  Sources.

Not really a surprise, if there's a dissenting opinion and it spreads to all the major hubs that are considered the target market - it's bound to have a strong affect on projection. Even if it's a debatable subject, there's bound to be strong fallout.

Many will buy it, sure - but many will not, as well. And those that won't are more relied upon then some would expect.

  2. I tend to enjoy the underdogs of Youtube a bit more; something just more natural about how they behave. (though i still like Jim Sterling and a few others)

One guy I think deserves more subs is SebastianSB - he mainly focuses on Dark Soul stuff and RPGs, but his commentary is fun to listen to, and feels genuine - even if his playstyle is a bit frustrating at times. (he's not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed at times) :sachi:

Agree. Stupid rolls much better. But this isn't text for anybody to say. These are subtitles to read to understand what is she saying.

    Pulled from wiki:

    Meanings

Based on semantic analyses of baka 馬鹿 entries in Japanese dictionaries and thesauruses, the lexicographer Michael Carr differentiates eight interrelated meanings.[4]

Three basic "fool; foolish" meanings distinguish baka1 "ass; jerk; fool", baka2 "ament; idiot; imbecile; fool" (ament is a rare but politically correct word for "mentally deficient"), and baka3 "blockhead; dullard; dimwit; simpleton; dolt; fool". These are found in many frequently-used Japanese expressions. Some more insulting lexemes are bakamono 馬鹿者 "stupid/born fool", ōbaka 大馬鹿 "big fool damned idiot", and baka-yarō 馬鹿野郎 "stupid jerk, ass, asshole, dumbass". Some compounds are baka yoke 馬鹿ヨケ "foolproof; idiot-proof", baka warai 馬鹿笑い "foolish/horse laugh" and baka zura 馬鹿面 "foolish face; stupid look"; and some verb phrases are baka ni suru 馬鹿にする "make a fool of (someone); treat with contempt", baka yobawarisuru 馬鹿よばわりする "call (someone) a fool", and baka o miru 馬鹿を見る "make a fool/ass of (oneself)".

While not a "direct" conversion, there is still a acceptable correlation.

Look, as someone that dislikes reinvented conversations and settings during a localization - even I see this as splitting hairs. Anyone with a remote understanding of the Japanase language will know that a single word can have multiple meaning, depending on inflection and grammatical usage.

Let me offer an example: In Fate/Stay Night, when Shirou meets Kotomi Kirei at the Mapu Tofu restaurant - all Kirei asks is "Tabaru?" and Shirou responds "Tabura janai!". A overly literal TL of that would be Kirei:"Eat?" Shirou:"No eat!" (at least based on my limited understanding of Japanese). It's something that needs to be modified to come across better in English - it works well in Japanese, and sounds good - but written in English it literally comes across as two cavemen~

Overall, this is probably the weirdest accusation of over-Americanisation I've ever come across.

It's actually close to how I expressed myself with the gripes I had with Tokyo Babel. :makina: Though, I didn't use nearly as much sarcasm~

Even as a pariah that prefers more literal translations (legible, mind you), I see the change from "Idiot" to "Stupid" a good choice - it just rolls off the tongue better, and still manages to convey exactly what the original meaning can be (look up baka sometime) without reinvention. It kept the childish vibe it was meant to express, without sounding weird.

If that's the method of the touch-ups, than I have no concerns. I'd only get annoyed with unique cultural references being removed/replaced (religions, class, etc). The world is bigger than the box a person sits in - and thus shouldn't be pandered overmuch. That, and I'm a weeb. :sachi:

    Thanks for the answers man!

So i'm guessing that Lilith's true route also has a 'better' end? so would it be best for me to finish setsuna's end then go for lilith's?

Once again thanks, halted my progress so i could get some clarity first.

    No worries :sachi:

Don't think you can actually do Setsuna's end until afterwards. It's more of an 'alternate ending" - or that's the vibe I got from it. Simply a different path for those that might appreciate it.

So i finally completed my first route of Tokyo Babel, Raziel's route of course!! and man...

did it end heavy. It wasn't beyond my expectation but none the less, I wish she got a much much happier ending than that. Putting my bias for happily ever after [together] endings, the ending was good. I'm not going to hate on it, i did think that it 'fit' her route's story in a sense. I shall venture forth to the other routes hoping that the conclusions would be of a much happier tone.

That aside, I did thoroughly enjoy the read. It's most definitely already the best Vn I've read this year.

I have some questions about Sorami's and Raziel's routes:

    1. Sorami has a normal and true ending, do they defer greatly in content and length?
    2. Lilith's route has a True end and Setsuna end, does the Setsuna end fall under Lilith's route or is it his very on path.
    3. Also which is deemed the end of the story, Lilith's true end or Sesuna's end?.

Please NO SPOILERS, I've only read Raziel's route True end, that's it. I'm just curious has how the other do routes are and my questions will allow me to arrange how i'll choose to read them. Thanks in advance for the advice ppl!

1, Yes - though the change is near the end. (instead of something early-on and noticeable)

    2. Falls under Lilith's route.

    3. Possibly subjective, but I think most would agree Lillith's true end is considered the end of the story.

  7. Errr, I'll take this chance to use my right to remain silent :sachi:

Jokes (mostly) aside, I'm pretty open-minded - though I like them to have feminine features - a good example of "mannish" characters is Princess Waltz (still a decent VN). Beyond that, I tend to favor pale skin, with vibrant red hair. (it's likely my number one go-to in games that let you create a character).

  8. I can empathize for the team - but really it's par for the course. I mean, just look at pretty much any other project ever - eager people will be eager, often times taken too far, or with a utter lack of consideration/gratitude~

Another really good example of entitlement? Most Steam forums. :sachi:

Something that should be considered though, is that the noisiest, rudest ones are often the lurkers that never say anything any other time of the year.

  9. @ChaosRavenShould use a spoiler tag on that, just in case~

That's presuming it was thrown in for "fun". Only Nasu's Sakura - and a real victim - can know that for certain (and even then, I'd imagine the topic depends on each individual - some are likely to react differently than others.) Some may think of the encounter as a chance to wipe away the bad memory with a good one (imprinting), as opposed to viewing the act as a terrible reminder.

Do we treat such people differently and carefully? So that they feel singled out? Or do we treat them like we would have normally? It's a really tough call with trauma - some really do need to be handled with care - but some also can't stand the idea of being treated/looked at differently ("with kids gloves" as some would say).

Huh, this discussion actually reminds me of EF - have you read it?

But, I get where you are coming from though. However, Sakura wanted to be with the one she trusts and loves - it's not like she just walked up to a random stranger and asked for sex - or that she was taken advantage of by Shirou. it's ultimately a proactive decision involving a trustworthy partner.

A final note I thought to add - Sakura feels unworthy of Shirou in this particular situation, she feels tainted and ashamed. I feel that him being with her took some of that burden off her heart and mind - that the man she loves was still attracted to her, and willing to be with her despite what she thinks of herself - and what she's been through. it likely wipes away at least some of her insecurity.

I am starting to think that maybe... just maybe... H scenes can seriously ruin a VN

Seriously, after discovering one of the darkest and saddest backstories of a character in anything I ever read/saw/played we get sempai please make sweet lavulavu with me cuz I desire men... because I was raped over and over... It seriously fucked up <no pun intended> with one of the most emotionally engaging moments in my vn history

I like H scenes in a vn, I'll admit I'm probably a weirdo and a perv, but I don\t want them in the middle of an emotional scene, Whenever I think of a good way to implement H scenes in a non-nukige vn I actually think of Amane's route in the first grisaia novel, You do the H scenes and you do the silly stuff and then you do the seriously heavy and messed up shit that leaves you emotionally scared and awake at night

BTW what kind of a fucking sherloc could tell that sakura and rin were sisters just by the color of ribbons from an old photo, or am I just that dam thick that these things just flew by me and I never noticed some other signs

This is one of those things I stand defiantly against the masses - people had the same gripe about Michuru's route near the end of GnK1. Sexuality IS a emotional experience, and some times it exists for comfort, and as a salve - not just pleasure and "fun".

For example - and it might be tmi for some, but it adds weight to my stance - my exs father had passed away, and after the funeral we celebrated his life with a small party. Once everyone had left, she asked me to stay the night. Not because she was tastelessly hot and ready - but because she wanted comfort that words could not express.

That aside, replying to your post prior to that: Shame on you for looking up spoilers :P Still, hope you end up enjoying HF. It's by far my favorite arc. I personally feel it builds up to a satisfying, emotional conclusion. (Sakura is not my favorite girl (though I also don't hate her like some do), but her story is by far the best). :sachi:

I wouldn't worry too much about Fate Hollow being too dark - it does have its moments, but it has a lot of laughs mixed in too.

Honestly I think Xseed should just cancel their partnership with Falcom and partner with someone that does voice contracts right. Then simply tell Falcom to get in contact with them when they get with the times.

Whoa whoa whoa now - let's not wish for anything hasty :sachi: Trails in the sky 1 and 2 are two of the best jrpgs I've ever had the pleasure to play through - I admit I prefer jap voices, but I'd gladly take english/no voices over the loss of such worls.

  12. Xseed is actually pretty good about offering both, in many cases. (at the very least, I recall Akiba's Strip offering both).

@Rooke Give enough time and material (assuming said material is not utterly wrong) you can get a rough grasp through osmosis. I wont pretend to claim I understand japanese jsut from what I've heard - but I do have a rough idea.

As for my personal bias - I find the emotions absorbed in the words much more heartfelt and much less corny in japanese - but that just raises the opld sub versus dub argument. :sachi:

The third game was known as Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory, so the VII is there as Victory 2, not as the number 7.
