Hello all . I have just released my last visual novel for the year, Without Within. Since the game is complete, I figured it is better to put it here than Oncoming Projects. Hopefully that is okay!

Yeah, I agree with you guys' points. Narcissu was the first VN I ever played, and the music in that game have stuck with me even to this day.

In VNs, I'm usually the most moved when a character opens up. For example, again, Setsumi in Narcissu. Either that, or in like Katawa Shoujo, where a character has a disability but she accepts it without falling into despair. That kind of strength is inspiring.

Hopefully people will not find this weird, but here goes .
 
People get into relationships, then they marry. We are obviously capable of having love for one another. But what about other things?
 
For me, I find myself deeply loving places. Usually, places I visit alone on holidays. I would arrive, get lost, then gradually become familiar with the area until I know my way around every street. That to me feels like spending time to know a person.
 
After returning home, I find myself obsessively looking at the place I visited on Google Street View, YouTube, etc. Many people want to visit new places all the time. For me, I desperately want to relive memories that I found enjoyable.
 
Recently, I got to revisit Melbourne to attend PAX. I recorded gigs of footage to ensure I will leave with no regrets. The whole time, I wore a stupid grin and skipped along the streets. Not tourist attractions, but simply soaking in that daily lifestyle. Love it so much.
 
I get similar feelings when I return to suburbs where I used to live. It brings me so much bliss that other people say they are unable to relate.
 
I also love storywriting and game development to a point where I have no interest in relationships, even though I am approaching 30. If that is all I do in my lifetime, I am delighted with that. My mind might change later, of course. For now, I want to devote everything to a craft I care deeply about.

Eclipsed mentioned it might be fine to continue the discussion, so I just wanted to share my thoughts. There are no references or attacks against anyone here. Hopefully that is acceptable .
 
I am not in a relationship at the moment because I have devoted the majority of my free time to my game development dreams. If I forced myself into a relationship, it would end poorly. I am functioning okay, though. In fact, I am delighted with life right now. If that is the way my entire life is, just me and my goals, I would be very happy with that. I have friends I cherish, so I thought that would suffice. Some tell me, with that approach, you will be lonely when you are old with no kids to look after you. They say that because they worry for me, and it is at the back of my mind right now.
 
I get jumpy (sometimes very, very jumpy XD) over cute anime girls like any other fan. But I have no thoughts about being in a relationship with them. It is not about 2D VS 3D for me at the moment. Right now, I have no thoughts about relationships at all. Often, I have no interest in going outside to conform to society's rules. I want to stay home and pursue my dreams in front of a monitor.
 
That said, I have always wanted to understand those who truly wish to pursue romantic relationships with 2D characters. On another note, I have been curious about those who cosplay as characters of the opposite gender as well. Recently, I picked up this book called The Moe Manifesto. It includes interviews with folks belonging to both of the aforementioned groups. The exchanges gave me a new understanding about their situations. I have always condoned doing what means most to you. If your heart says that is your preference, it is all good in my books.

Common route is bad, but more or less understandable. However, later on it's a total mess. It's filled with errors.
Also, believe me - you are NOT okay with H-scenes being cut out from this particular VN. Not when one of the routes is all about progressing from sexfriends to proper lovers. With even the slightest mention of sex axed, this route got turned into an absolutely incomprehensible gibberish.
 
There are plans to release an updated patch for the Steam version. It will include re-translated scripts from common and Kotori's routes - still a bit rough and unedited, but definitely much better than the official "TL". Wait a few days.

Wow, I am delighted to hear so many folks mentioning FF IV ! Even VI is commonly and deservingly loved, but IV is a pleasant surprise. For me, it would be VI followed by IV. Nostalgia admittedly has a lot to do with it, I think. If we replayed VI today, would we have a lot of things to pick out? Possibly. It is still probably better than a lot of the titles produced today, though. In terms of story, I mean. The visuals have aged quite okay, too. I find good 2D is timeless .

Though I have obsessed over novel writing for 15 years (before moving onto games), I have never participated in NaNoWriMo before. Truth be told, I have just never really needed any external pushes to get down to work.
