Helvetica Standard reacted to Cyrillej1 in Violet Hill (DEMO released)
I played the demo, and here are some of my personal thoughts (they're not serious xD, just wrote some thoughts down as I played through it)
-clap-

Helvetica Standard got a reaction from XReaper in Ushinawareta Mirai o Motomete Translation Project
Uniformalist translators tend to make mistakes because they seem to forget about context or disregard it entirely.
It's essentially too literal a translation and losing context tuns it into something comical at best and horrid at worst.
Japanese lack several expressions that are widely used such as "going hungry" they actually say something like
"my belly is empty" so instead of translating it literally you actually have to find a proper equivalent regardless of
how precise you want to be with the japanese idioms. In this case you always have to say "I'm hungry" or "I'm starving"
And in the case of the "meat" line, you have to make a compromise and say something else as to not break flow
or make it sound weird, for example "I wasn't looking at your underwear. I was admiring the movement of your hips"
Just an idea.

Sorry if I'm wrong.. it doesn't look like the meaning is totally incorrect, but just doesn't make sense in English. Probably something more like this?

Helvetica Standard reacted to Zodai in Violet Hill (DEMO released)
I'm...going to be frank, I actually liked the old project name better. Feels like an extra syllable for not a good enough reason, and it's slightly more difficult to pronounce. At least change the second word to something latin-ish as well for consistencies sake.
That said, I still wish you guys luck on the project. I'll be looking forward to how it turns out.

Helvetica Standard reacted to Ram_Ram_A in Violet Hill (DEMO released)
B...but i like Coldplay. not reallly
Have you thought about changing the entire name into a latin language? It would fit better imo. If not, then i would recommend to keep it as Violet Hill. I think its a good name. Really glad to see you guys being active and can't wait to see more from you guys. I'm currently writing something so when I finish I'll send it over to you guys. It'll give me a gist on how well my writing has improved. Keep up the good work.

Thank you all, and please continue supporting us for another year.
Happy new years, and Merry Majikoi!

I could count the number of members who use both TS and FSG (skype) on my hands. Something I couldnt say about each of their unique populations. And each platform has its benefits. Shoutbox is nice and casual and easy to use with no commitment.

Helvetica Standard reacted to Darklord Rooke in FuwaChat Discussion
There’s an IRC as well but that’s been dying of late, maybe the Fuwachat could replace that.
At the end of the day I view “Fuwachat” as something you use while … visiting the Fuwa realms so to speak. Hanging with Fuwamembers while on Fuwa. Skype and TS are more like groups of friends getting together outside Fuwa, you meet on Fuwa and then you take your friendships elsewhere.
There’s more than 1 unofficial Skype group also, I’m a part of a small one which consists of past/present members of Fuwa.

Don't expect the patch this year.

In a world where flying is as simple as riding a bicycle, there is a popular sport called “Flying Circus.”
The protagonist once had a bright future ahead of him in that field of sports but due to an overwhelming defeat in addition to a certain other reason, he has left that field.
However, he meets the transfer student Kurashina Asuka and regains his passion as he teaches her how to fly.
With his situation changed, he participates once again in the Flying Circus. Just how high will he be able to fly this time with Asuka at his side?
This is a love story about the two who met while soaring in the skies, and the friends surrounding them.

Helvetica Standard reacted to Nosebleed in Anyone here thought about Kickstarting Majikoi just like Grisaia
The Grisaia kickstarter is merely for raising money to pay for licensing fees which were previously agreed upon between the company that made the game (Frontwig) and the company that wants to localize it (Sekai Project) as well as pay for other costs necessary for localization.
It's not just random money someone decided to raise so they can translate the game.
You can't just throw money at a translation group and that automatically makes everything work out.
First you need somebody to approach Minato Soft and have them allow you to localize Majikoi.
Then you can crowdfund the licensing fees (if you want to go with Sekai Project's method)
Then you can start the process to localize the game.
You can't use kickstarter to raise funds for a fan translation.

Helvetica Standard reacted to Millia Soft in Millia -The ending (Released)
Hi everyone! I’m the leader of a Vietnamese visual novel making group. We call our group Millia Soft. We plan on making great visual novels and become something big.
Today, I’m here to introduce you to our first project “Millia –The ending-“
We are now on kickstarter, please check it here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1803299001/millia-the-ending-visual-novel
It's a story about a world that was cursed by its own goddess. Long ago, there are two goddesses with the duty to protect their world. But then, one of the two was angered by human and wanted to destroy the world with her curse. The other goddess had to sacrifice her body and power to temporary stop the curse then reborn again to continue fighting it. After 200 years of sacrificing and reborn, she met with Rize, the main character and also her guardian. Only then, she befriended with him and started to think the world how beautiful the world is.
Rize was chosen by the world to become the goddess' guardian after the sudden death of his father. Rize met the goddess when he was young and befriended her. When he first knew about her role to fight with the curse, he found it ridiculous that she has to sacrifice so much. He told himself to do everything he can to help the goddess.
Together with him is his little sister and childhood friend. The four became good friends with each other and share many happy memories with each other. But then again, it's time for the goddess to again sacrifice her body. The magic she used to fight the curse not only take her body but also her memory. And beside Rize, everyone is starting to act strange. The end is drawing close.
