Decided to start playing If My Heart Had Wings because I guess I was looking for something light and fluffy before I restart a lot of the drama heavy vns I'd like to get through
I'm a few hours in and it seems fine so far and the girls that I've encountered so far seem pretty decent
I actually kinda like the protag and he actually seems like he has some issues to deal with and has the potential for growth which is sadly lacking in quite a few vns
Hopefully I won't want to toss him into a spinning propeller half way through the vn

Symphonic Rain
SpoilerFal's betrayal in Symphonic Rain was so unexpected that it just jackhammered me in the fucking gut I just couldn't believe it and it was absolutely brilliant. She had played the role of the almost perfect character and to have that all be turned right around was great.
Fate/Stay Night
SpoilerAh yeah I had almost forgotten how much Saber's transformation in Heavens Feel Hurt. I mean god damn that was painful when it first happened. That was the easiest bad ending to get in the game because even in the end I didn't want to hurt her.

idk what about the usual restrictions but:
1. for every japanese VN to have a decent english translation
2. for every japanese game to also have a decent english translation
3. give the wish to someone elseUsual restrictions

So, you break open that crypt, search through your sock drawer, your local antiques store in your quest to find more racist memorabilia, or find it in the alleyway between two 7-Eleven's. Anyway, you manage to stumble upon that dusty old lamp. So, you give it the ole' dutch rub and out pops blue Will Smith because this is 2019 and this what you have to expect. After the whole song and dance thing that probably won't hold a candle to the original you are given three wishes with the usual restrictions. What would you wish for?

Ohhh yeah this one I was interested in it when I first randomly stumbled upon it
I didn't back it and it seems like that was a wise decision in hindsight
Which sucks because I like the premise of it..

I mean if there is something that can make you cry for days than perhaps you need some sort of psychological care
I dunno Symphonic Rain maybe? It's kinda sad.

A few mystery ones you haven't played are
Enigma
Fatal Twelve
Campus Notes - Forget Me Not
Miniature Garden
and
Magical Eyes -Red is for anguish-
I ended up enjoying all of these

This is just a really compelling song and music video
It blends so well together

Right. I did get that impression from a few loose screenshots.
I figure biting the bullet on this one is worth it. Would you recommend I watch the anime and then proceed to the manga (eventually) (if necessary), or should I just read the manga?I started that. Stopped at what I figure was the halfway mark, having finished a route.
I'm sure Sable's Grimoire will be worth reading. Or is? Last I checked it wasn't complete, but is it now?
I was somewhat disappointed by the subtitles of Bunnygirl Senpai when I first tried watching it. I'll want to try again using a different translation (if such a thing exists) and see if my issues are with the translation or the psudophilosophy balderdash.
Acient Magus' Bride was unfortunate to me. Many praised it as it aired, but I couldn't care much for the scenery, environments, or music, so I felt like I wasn't quite experiencing it right. I hope that'll be different when I try again.
Demonbane may fit my requirements, except the other stuff that would be the reason one would normally play it may well be the reason I'm not interested in it. It looks to me like an action title, and I generally skip action altogether. But I did like Sorcery Jokers!
I really ought to play Karakara, for this reason or another. I've been putting it off because I thought it was short and not worthwhile for that reason, but since there's two and I've found I'm really slow at reading VNs these days, it might be worth it.
I'll hold off on I Walk Among Zombies until there's more of it. Right now it just looks like a zombie title or a nukige, neither of which I like.
I'd say read the manga first and then watch the anime second and then marvel at how it does the manga justice.
Yeah I'd also second the reading Tokyo Babel thing because the protag is really robotic and so is his romantic feelings.

I go through several bouts of intense soul searching and feelings of existential dread before randomly deciding to pick up a vn that looks remotely interesting to me.
I eventually decide based on if it has a good protag that won't make me want to drive a cement truck through several orphanages

I'm Ranzo known in these here parts as the best user on fuwa and also known for my saucy tarantella

Hmmm.
Bloom Into You would be my recommendation if you haven't already read it
Yuu is a stone cold gangsta for much of the series

I'd live the plush life of the heiress of one of the largest corporations in the galaxy and fly around on my angel wing.
I'd probably have to cut down on the candy consumption though...and the whole telepathy thing would take getting used to.

Galaxy Angel
I remember arguing with a bunch of people about how it was the best back in the day
Good times.

Finished playing Heart of the Woods (last night TAKE THAT LESIAK!)
I really liked it though it went from normal to what the fuck am I reading pretty quickly...something, something talking cat.
The writing was good, the story was pretty good, the yuri was great. I liked the protag even though she was a total glasses girl (Her glasses really made her look goofy in her new duds I just have to say) The villain could have been a little better though
In any case I'll give it a pretty dope/10

Yeah, I guess for me is that I really don't know if it will be really good even though it might have legions of people just singing it's praises from on high.
-
Because it is damn hard to find good female characters in videogames
Also it just fits whatever weird niche that was missing
-
Playing Heart of the Woods because I am all about that yuri life dogggg....

I voted for Boku no Hitori Sensou, Aiyoku no Eustia, and fuck it, Mecha-con!

Okay so here is a few that might wet your particular whistle
Fatal 12 is an amazing vn and it has a tournament at the center of the story
Princess Waltz is a pretty kinda decent vn with a large tournament in the center of the story
Also I kinda think you are doing yourself a disservice by not playing Fate/Stay Night
It is touted as one of the best vns ever for a good reason.
Are japanese dubs really good?

Well since I grew up watching dubbed anime there are a few shows I'd only ever want to see dubbed like Digimon, Yu Yu Hakusho, Dragon Ball Z, and like I dunno Samurai Champloo
If I watched the original voiced lines I probably would find them quite unnatural
I think the problem with eng dubs is that the pool of talented voice actors is significantly lower than that of jp voice actors so you get a hear a lot of the same voices for multiple shows.
Also I think that jp voice actors are better at the cutesy voices and emotionless/reserved voices than their english counterparts
As far as bad jp acting goes I guess whenever it just feels very vacant and listless or when it is so overwrought and over the top melodramatic that you can't help but scoff at it.
