  1. This phenomenon was always my favourite thing you can find on the internet: And the classic quote: (the last one might be fake, but I don't care)
  2. *And this is how the Great Fuwa Schism began, leading to decades of bloody conflict and thousands of 2D Imuotos changing hands repeatedly, being subjected, in turns, to platonic, brotherly love and to the savage lust of taboo-baited weebs. The wasteland once known as Otaku Culture would never truly recover.*
  3. If you don't mind free stuff, I suggest playing through CUPID, One Thousand Lies and Doki Doki Literature Club. And if you want to find more recommendation for western-produced VNs, you can follow the link in my signature. ;] EDIT: And if you like yuri, Flowers -Le Volume sur Printemps- is the second best thing available in English, after Kindred Spirits on the Roof. And you can grab Spirits for very little money in a charity bundle right now.
  4. That's a very risky thing to promise...
  5. Aye, PC versions are ported from the Vita remakes I guess, but they're still essentially 7-8 years-old games, at this point they should run on a potato.
  6. Well, at least they've changed their stance from trying to sterilize their games completely to cutting out just the straight-up h-scenes and leaving milder sexual content intact. It's a bit of a shame that they don't offer 18+ patches, because how they released A Sky Full of Stars is exactly what I'm personally looking for, while not making the h-content available for those interest and the way they didn't even talk to people requesting that made it into another PR disaster. :/
  7. Witaj na Fuwanovel! Well, I was trying to get angry at that assumption on what kind of people populate this site, but it's pretty much correct, isn't it? However, never underestimate the ability of antisocial weirdos to write interesting stuff. A lot of creative people fit into that category (not trying to sell myself as a creative person BTW, it's quite the opposite, but some say my writing isn't the worst either).
  8. The opening sound effects were impressive to. :] But hey, this is "YouTube - most random", I'm not sure if that video was random enough. I have to fix this.
  9. As we're already on Jim Sterling videos, I have to say this game made a stronger impression on me. It might've learned a few lessons from nukige:
  10. Welcome, welcome! I hope you're feeling motivated to stay with us longer and post a bit after this break.
  11. Welcome to Fuwa! I hope you'll have fun lurking and you really shouldn't hesitate to post stuff, we don't bite. BTW, you're a successful Twitch streamer that's scared of people? How does that work?
  12. Why I'm so late on this? Best wishes to you @Novel21!
  13. I think quite a few people in a place like this will relate to some elements of your story. My anxiety actually kicked in during my college years, but I was always a loner and a weirdo. I will tell you one thing, following on what Kaguya said: people in your school might dislike you for being different and surely might misunderstand you, but unless they're all the scum of the earth without the smallest bit of empathy in them, they aren't "disgusted" with you - this is, at least to some extent, your mind playing tricks on you. And if some of them might act like that because of the group dynamics in your class etc., if they have any kind of decency, one day they'll look in the mirror and only feel disgusted with themselves. Also, as Kaguya and Eris said, you're almost out of there, all those shitty people will be a thing of the past in a few months, so what they think of you and how they act towards you is the least important thing on Earth, as long as you get through this project and possibly a few other hurdles. My intuition (it might be worth nothing, but it comes from experience) would be not apologizing (if you apologize for everything it will just make you seem weak and incompetent, believe me, I've been there so many times) or trying to reconcile, but asking for a way of contributing to the project with as little interaction with them as possible. If you have any ideas about the project, start by sharing them. You can't suddenly become likeable, but you can show that you're useful. If you can keep communicating with them without eye-to-eye interactions that get your anxiety kick in, it's also great. If you need effects now, don't try to fight through your limitations, find a workaround. Obviously, anxiety is a disorder, something that has to be dealt with through therapy, but beyond that, you have right to be different. If you one day fully get rid of your current problems you might become a very sociable, easygoing person, but you might as well be still very much introverted and quirky. People's opinions of you, unless you want them to marry you or give you a job, are not really that important. Remember that the main thing that matters is being true to yourself and living the way you see fit. And when you have to deal with assholes (a huge part of our lives), think how to get rid of them efficiently, not how to get on their good side. Anyways, I wish you luck, and I hope that venting here made you feel a bit better, I know it always does that for me.
  14. Ok, I'm maybe one of the most biased people out there when it goes to this topic, with my weird personal investment into OELVNs, but I'll say a few things: 1. Obviously, OELVNs being indie products, often literally made by a single person, are way below many Japanese ones when it goes to complexity and production values. On the other hand, they can be quite unique and interesting exactly thanks to their creator's quirks and style, see for example Syrup and the Ultimate Sweet (on the cute side of things) or CUPID (on the very-not-cute-side). 2. Many OELVNs are obvious "weeb games", copying Japanese VNs in absurd ways and having no identity of their own, but there are also very distinct ones with Western settings, strongly differentiating themselves from their JP inspirations. See for example Cinders or Apshyxia. There are also rare examples of straight-up "weeb games" that are simply so good that they don't feel like inferior imitations, see Katawa Shoujo and Lucid9. 3. I guess artstyle is very much a problem of personal taste, but I actually like hybrid ones. Razz's or Inma's art are good examples of something that is not that far away from generic anime style but have its own personality and I enjoy their work a lot. 4. OELVN market is super-heavy on yuri (and games with female protagonists in general), when compared to JP scene. For me that's already a strong enough reason to appreciate it. EDIT: For more information and thoughts on OELVNs, please follow my blog.
  15. Hello there and welcome to Fuwa! Well, if you have a project then there's probably much more that can be said, but no pressure. Hope you'll have fun posting. I wonder if the intensity of shitposting will change now that we have installed all those new scarecr... I mean, moderators. ^^
  16. I'm sorry I'm the one to tell you that... But... The Heart is not actually an icon. It's just a background element. I know things will never be the same now that you've learned the truth, but I hope you'll find the strength to forgive the Heart, and maybe even love it again one day. It never wanted to hurt you.
  17. This is quite... Big, if description on the store page is worth believing. I'll check it out when I have an opportunity, I wonder what the business model is.
  18. The guide would be useful, because the official one on the developer's site doesn't always work - at least in one route, it skipped a choice that I think mattered after all, because I've got normal end after following the instructions to the letter. Lost any motivation to try again after that.
  19. Disclaimer: This was the first purely GxB otome game I’ve ever played and my experience was most likely very different from that of a fan of the genre. While I stand by my conclusions, they’re definitely written from an unusual perspective. Locked Heart is a game I’ve encountered pretty much by chance, while randomly browsing VNs available on Google Play. As a nice-looking, free title it quickly found its way into my wishlist, but belonging to a genre I usually don’t play (and apparently following a very standard otome formula), it was never very high on my to-read list. Only another coincidence, leaving me stranded in a café for multiple hours with nothing but my tablet to accompany me, compelled me to run it and discover that I’ve stumbled upon something rather exceptional – definitely when it goes to Android games, but maybe even in a broader sense. Developed by Dicesuki, a small studio which later created the highly-regarded Cinderella Phenomenon, and published for Android in July 2016, Locked Heart quickly became one of the highest-rated mobile VNs out there, gathering an impressive 4.9/5 score among Google Play users and a decent VNDB rating. Of course, standing out positively on a marketplace full of horrible shovelware and shameless cash-grabs might not be a huge achievement by itself – in the case of this small otome however, this enthusiastic response from the readers seems to indicate a bit more than just contrast from the absolute trash that dominates mobile platforms. 20. I always wondered why those 3 weren't mods already, congrats on making things as they should be. I told you @Zander :p
  21. Isn't like 80% of what we call "all-ages" around here actually 15+/17+ releases? It's just a short way of saying "a version without full-on h-scenes".
  22. This will be a nice opportunity to make it into a timeline, especially because the trajectory that led me here is probably super-weird. It would go like this: RPG Shooter: Starwish (in mid-2011 on Kongregate, it's a shoot'em up with pretty significant VN elements, I had a blurry memory of it for a long time but only two days ago I've finally found what it was - ofc I had no idea what VNs were back then), Sunrider: Mask of Arcadius (somewhere in 2014, while browsing free games on Steam - it's a very solid hex-based tactical game/VN hybrid, I was quite impressed with it, but didn't finish the game back then, only did it literally a few days ago), Analogue: A Hate Story (in mid-2015, still didn't know much about VNs, but was heavily impressed with the storytelling), School Days HQ (in early 2017, I was intrigued by the anime enough to check what the game looked like and whether I can get a positive ending there), Ace Academy (2017, soon after School Days - a very sweet, satisfying experience that got me sucked in for good). An honourable mention has to go to all the dating sims I've played on Newgrounds - some of them have really decent stories and it wouldn't hurt anyone to have them included on VNDB.
