  1. This very much depends on the game. Sometimes VN have routes that are more or less equal and I'm not the kind of completionist that plays romances he don't care about etc. just to 100% it. When I'm done with what interested me in a title, I consider it completed. On the other hand, in many VNs you can't really say you've experieced them fully until you've got through all the routes, like in Everlasting Summer for example - only at the very end you learn the meaning of the plot and get a proper conclussion. For this reason I think reaching "true end" is closest to my attitude, I want to make sure I've seen the best that the specific title has to offer and hopefully get some closure, but I don't have to necessarily see every path and every CG out there.
  2. This friendly-looking fellow? My image of you is ruined.
  3. Wow, this is pretty heavy, but I would say... If you actually feel you have a real chance to make it into a Japanese college and get that scholarship, go for it. But, Japan is also expensive and while it might seem welcoming for foreigners studying there or tourists, it can also be quite xenophobic. Denmark, in the end, is one of the best countries in the world to live in - obviously not from everyone's perspective, but Japan is not a wonderland either, every country has it's problems and can screw you over. Whatever you choose, good luck, I hope you'll be able to change your life in the end.
  4. Is there any reason to belive they will though? I was always under impression that physical releases by these small companies rarely ever happen beyond kickstarter rewards (and NekoNyan won't crowdfund their games, at least at this point).
  5. I guess there's also a problem of some translators being native speakers in neither English nor Japanese? From what I understand, a0art from lack of proper editorial oversight, that's where the Hoshimemo disaster came from - the lead translator was German. And I think it would be the same if I've attempted translating anything, even if we assume I'm a fairly competent writer (disputable) and know both languages somewhat well (not yet true), there's just a ton of nuance that would escape me, metaphors that would get over my head and many situations in which I would create sentences that seem logical from my point of view but for a native speaker looks horrible. Tanslating is scary business...
  6. You can't, admins will do it sooner or later.
  7. Surprisingly enough, it seems to also be about lesbians loving to make and read VNs. At least that's my impression, there's a lot of females, including LGBT+ ones in the OELVN scene, it's one of the things that makes it interesting and different. :3
  8. The World Only God Knows/Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai
  9. Does Keima count as a Pretty BoyTM? I've seen some serious discussions on this topic. Well, now that you've mentioned 400 posts, you'll definitely have to prepare something special for the 666th one. In the meantime, I hope you won't give up on writing about BL and Otome.
  10. Oh, that's possible I guess. Strange I never reached it before, I usually like posts pretty indiscriminately. Thank you for the info (can't give you a "thank you" reaction ATM). And another post I can't award with a like. What a twisted tyranny this reaction limit is. ----------- Sorry for derailing the thread Eureka-chan. ごめんなさい
  11. Spiritual Predecessor to Sakura Dungeon? BTW, am I the only one who can't like any post for the last 30 mins or is it something with the forums?
  12. Yeah, the gimmick was promising - and made the ultimate failure of Reboot that much more painful to see. It reminds you that having a good idea is a start, not a success in itself. :>
  13. Well, I can't blame you, I'm very much the same - and it basically made me stop watching porn for recreational uses at a certain point. Of course, I don't want to say anyone should do that or claim moral superiority of any kind, I'm thankfully in a relationship for many years now and don't really have need for porn anyways so it wasn't some heroic sacrifice on my part. :> I actually have this one on my disk, maybe I'll move it a bit higher on my to-read list, it made me curious.
  14. Most likely, considering the realities of the Japanese scene (and all the weird cultural tropes that makes it absolutely unwatchable from my perspective). In OELVNs, maybe, but really, porn will always be porn, even in cartoon version. Romanticizing it never really works, because it's not what most people are looking for - and porn is rarely done for artistic merits, it's done for money and looks for broadest possible appeal (or it's done for a quick jerk-off in case of some free projects, but in that situation it often ends equally trashy, or even worse). I mean, I'm not anti-porn, I'm pretty much attempting to make a freakin' academic career off porn. It's just not healthy to expect anything meaningful or tactful out of it, even in best forms, it is just fapping material - and before any examples come in, every of those rare "story significant" porn scenes could relay its meaning without actually using hentai. One exception I will agree on is games that use sexual themes in grimdark, grotesque ways - it's part of their identity, no matter how we judge their existence overall.
  15. That should totally be a thing though. And I think board mod tools would be enough to do that?
  16. And School Days with a bunch of fetishistic pregnancy endings. It's true though that the topic is not really present in any serious, plot-significant ways in VNs. I see @Funyarinpa's arguement from this point of view (personally I don't really care for the theme of children, maybe because of how much I don't want to have them myself), but I don' t think that hentai has to be connected with it. More mature themes and mature characters are always welcome, but the less they have to do with porn the better from my point of view. Let the eroge h-scenes stay in their weird fantasy world, I'll skip them anyways and there are people that seriously enjoy them exactly because of how over-the-top and detached from reality they are - after all, if you want more "believable" porn, you have maybe a few millions of pornhub videos to choose from.
  17. All best wishes for you @r0xm2n!
  18. Important question - do you like/need h-scenes in your VNs?
  19. Welcome, welcome! So, your interests definitely line up with what VN market likes to offer, you'll find some like-minded people around here and a lot of recommendations. Have fun posting.
  20. Yes, I have authoritarian tendencies though (I used to be an admin on a wiki that required some heavy-handed aproach to keep things in any kind of order, but I think I already have a proper feel on what's acceptable and what's not around here). I have a few quite busy weeks ahead of me, but one of my activities might actually including reading through everything ever written on the translation subforums for my university project. Even if that doesn't happen, after February I should be back to spending unreasonable amounts of time on the Forums, just like it was in December and first half of January. EDIT: As for my motivations, I spend so much time on the Forums that I simply have the ability to counteract some problems lowering everyone's enjoyment around here, including my own.
  21. That doesn't leave much space for it on the current VN market...
  22. That's one piece of realism I can honestly live without.
  23. Welcome to Fuwa! I'm glad you enjoyed the welcoming posts so far. We are a nice community in the end, even if sometimes infested with rampant shitposting. And TBH, considering the story elements you like, the VN market pretty much have you covered for the rest of your life, most of them are exactly about that. ^^
