That is actually very considerate of you not to dump +20 recommendations on me. We all know this genre takes time. Neptunia FTW I put a Blanc over there as a reminder, since I struggle to write a book for almost two years and it's not going fast. To write and publish something is an old dream of mine. Yep I think Clannad  is awsome. I am sure to play Rewrite one day, I read that they are going to release it in English. Cant wait.

Ok, I'm maybe one of the most biased people out there when it goes to this topic, with my weird personal investment into OELVNs, but I'll say a few things:
1. Obviously, OELVNs being indie products, often literally made by a single person, are way below many Japanese ones when it goes to complexity and production values. On the other hand, they can be quite unique and interesting exactly thanks to their creator's quirks and style, see for example Syrup and the Ultimate Sweet (on the cute side of things) or CUPID (on the very-not-cute-side).
2. Many OELVNs are obvious "weeb games", copying Japanese VNs in absurd ways and having no identity of their own, but there are also very distinct ones with Western settings, strongly differentiating themselves from their JP inspirations. See for example Cinders or Apshyxia. There are also rare examples of straight-up "weeb games" that are simply so good that they don't feel like inferior imitations, see Katawa Shoujo and Lucid9.
3. I guess artstyle is very much a problem of personal taste, but I actually like hybrid ones. Razz's or Inma's art are good examples of something that is not that far away from generic anime style but have its own personality and I enjoy their work a lot.
4. OELVN market is super-heavy on yuri (and games with female protagonists in general), when compared to JP scene. For me that's already a strong enough reason to appreciate it.

^This for me too. The OELVNs that I avoid like the plague have the same problems of the japanese titles I avoid, so in the end it's all the same.

I don't see them as any different. Some I like, others I don't.

Just so you guys know, this is not the Libra team. Sol Press is doing all translations and development in-house!

Being able to skip scenes without having to go through the game in fast foward. The only game that I remember that has a system that does that is Dramatical Murder.

I'd love it if more VNs tried to be more creative with their route systems instead of the usual simple formula "common route -> choose a girl -> follow a linear story to the end". It's a shame that the real potential of the genre is never used to the fullest.

Nutauku's page only mentions the three girls but VNDB shows around five including the trap's so I don't know why they cut them.
 
I have both of those but only read Go Go so far and they where pretty good, I recall some of Frontwing's releases are stepping up and improving there's like Corona Blossom but it still looks slightly weird until you get used to it.

The technical perfection of VNs such as Tokyo School Life or Go Go Nippon!. The 2.5D animations in those VNs are great.

The only thing I can think of with something similar to what you're on about is this - https://www.nutaku.net/games/download/girls-can-be-pervy-too/  where you can create your own scenes after finishing the main routes. I haven't played it myself though so I can't say if it's good or not but the concept alone makes it interesting.

I will name 3 because they serve different functions: interface function, narration style, and plot.
Completion percentage. Some VNs have extremely long routes. If you read without checking some sort of source, it can get annoying at times to read something.  Connected routes. Of course it is nice to read routes as completely different stories, but personally I love stuff like Multi Route mystery.  Perception based choices. I mean such choices as Umineko's final/only choice. Those choices that do more than just determine heroine.

Collectable bad endings with tip sections like Fate/Stay Night.

A built-in flowchart. It's also very good to see your progress, it's a must have for completionists like me.
And I also liked that Comyu had a chapter menu that let you jump to EVERY SINGLE SCENE, super nice!
I also like any VN that provides any kind of variation to H-scenes, else they get quickly repetitive (choices that let me choose who's gonna be on top, choices that let me ship any two people from my gang of friends, etc)

Oh That's good to know, I'll probably grab when it comes out then... Or at least wait for some reviews as I still haven't even touched my copy of Libra after I pre-ordered after reading some early reviews.
Me too the art looks so unique. I'm also looking forward to Room No.9 as it's made by the people who did No, Thank You!!. I'm getting bored with Naked Butlers, it's good but even with a guide it's still a pain to navigate the route you want, Komine's is the worst it's so easy to fail early on.
