Well, I'm 35 now, and I just started recently (reading school moeges and watching HS romcom anime )
And, isn't @ittaku way past 40 and still doing this? (I think he mentioned his age in some post)

Since it's only 10 days before AX, I think it would be appropriate if I'm open the thread about it. As for the schedule, you can see it below under the spoiler.
In case you'd have a hard time to adjust the time, it's Los Angeles time and it's timezone was at GMT -7.
Since we'll probably will going to have a lot of announcements, I'll probably either put the announcements in the spoiler box or just link it to the post that contain the announcements. For my comment here, I think we already know that Denpa here would be announced all of 18+ version of Sekai announcement if Sekai decided to announce a VN that did have 18+ contents censored, and occasionally some original announcements so we can treat Denpa and Sekai announcements as one for the most part. Mangagamer curiously only have one announcement planned according to their announcement page, although we may have sudden announcement from them like back at last year AX though. No much comment from both of Fakku and Aksys seeing that most probably their announcement would be nukige and sci-fi respectively, although I wonder though what Sol Press will bring to the table here.
I guess that's all for what I can say now, and I'll bump this if AX is started or whenever there's an announcement (Duh).
PS - I'll use PS for the announcements below, and since the number will be a lot I'll use spoiler box for the announcements.
    JAST
    Sekai Project
    Denpasoft
    Aksys Games
    Mangagamer
    Sol Press
    Spike Chunsoft
That's all for AX announcements here, and I'll try to comment on those later.

No it wouldn't, injecting boorish westerm vulgarities into a non-vulgar speech is not an equivalent of referring to someone informally.
    Example:
"O-omae!" (informal, somewhat disrepectful way of referring to someone by saying "You".)
    Murrican libral translation:
"YOU asshole, I'll fuck your shit up bastard!"

No, the point of the game localization company is to translate it into the target language in a way that preserves the author's original ideas and intent the most while considering the particularities of said language. There are all sorts of localization industries with their own rules so we shouldn't mix them up with the extremely broad definitions. The idea of making something "fit into the american themes prevalent today" honestly horrifies me and provokes nightmarish flashbacks from the days of yore when official anime releases were messed up beyond recognition and the legendary 4kids did their legendary stuff.
Not to mention, that americans are not even close to the sole target of such localizations, its target audience is the whole english-speaking world.

I think I might've already said it somewhere earlier in the thread, but to clarify the CGs have the same degree of minimal censoring as the Switch version does, not the light-show of the PS4 version.

Alright, found the channel and also the video link, but unfortunately he indeed deleted the demo:

Welp. Guess his animation sadly isn't a thing any longer...

Huh... I didn't even know the Seven Wonders one was animated. It's a very basic animation, sure, but hey! It's cool that it exists.
About the "Prologue to the day of the beginning": Sorry, that one apparently isn't even animated. It was the last CD Senri (the *actual* Senri) translated, but noone animated it so far. Rigs, who is part of the Committee of Zero, only animated the rightsider-dram, which I was actually referring to. I mixed up the names...
Unfortunately I don't know of any other animations or translations besides the ones mentioned in the sheet. There's a guy on the Steins;Gate Discord called "Croowe" (or bad_spot on reddit) who intended to animate "The narrow path of the beaten track", and uploaded a demo video somewhere on YouTube where he presented a few minutes of his animation. It was fairly close to the actual VN as well, also using the original game assets such as the textbox and the nameplates, and in fact that video was what really spurred me to create a similar animation for Fools. I didn't want my animation to be below his quality standards, and in the end it turned out to be what you've probably already seen.
No, I really don't want to brag about "how great my animation is". My point is just that I would really like to show you Croowe's demo video, because (in case he didn't already drop his animation) his attempt might be fairly similar in quality to mine. Unfortunately I'm unable to still find it anywhere on YouTube, neither do I still find his channel (I'm not sure about how exactly it was called). Perhaps he already deleted the demo, even though I really don't hope so because it looked quite promising. If I'm gonna stumble across it sometime in the future I'll link to it in this thread though.

You probably wanted to know how many *parts* were released, because the entirety of Fools is contained on just one disc. As for the parts: The Fools-CD consists of five tracks, even though those are virtually six because the last track was split into two parts.
I'm only intending to animate the first few minutes of the 5th track and will close up the series afterwards. The remaining dialogue of track 5 and the entirety of track 2 is just SOL, serving as some kind of intro and outro. Not only would that very quickly spoken discussion between all club members be a lot of work/result in a lot of character sprites to animate, it's also not relevant for the main plotline in any way.
If you still want to read those parts up you can do so by following the links below. "Onee-chan" translated all of those, I'm just the one animating You'll also find the other audio dramas there, partially transcribed, translated and also animated (by different persons in a different quality though. I think the Committee of Zero animated "Prologue to the day of the beginning" as well). Just check the first table "Start here" for them.

Edit: I guess I was wrong. The last SOL scene *might* even be relevant for the plot. To show that Mio changed her inner attitude...

@mods: I wasn't sure where to post this, so feel free to move the post to where it belongs to if you consider it placed wrongly here.

The original Visual Novel already hinted about Mio's time in America, however it never properly explained what happened to her back then. This was supposed to be taken care of by a manga called "Children's Collapse" as well as an audio drama called "FAR TOO LATE - Slumbering Fools".
Overthe course of the last six months I animated the majority of the audio drama (it's an hour in length so please bear with me) in a Visual-Novel-esque manner, so as to give you a way to read the transcript along with the voice-over. If you're interested, then you'll find the playlist to the entire animation below. Keep in mind the first part can't really use a lot of sprites, as the featured characters simply don't have any. This changes from the second part onwards though

    Hello,
Before I answer your question, I should say that I'm the type that read anything as long as they don't make me fall asleep. So I'm probably not the best person to ask for impression on the story.
In any case, I think the story is quite good. It's not amazing or anything, but it's enjoyable. At the very least, I haven't fallen asleep while reading KnR yet XD.
In comparison to Kamidori... It's been so long since I played Kamidori so I don't remember much of it, but if I have to, I'd rank them around the same.

One of the main problems I have is a lot of the times it doesn't accurately represent the characters personality. In Fureraba there is red haired chick that's supposed to be a classic tsundere, but all the swearing in her dialogue turns her into an American bitch. I'm pretty sure most of us that read VNs are weebs and we actually enjoy the Japanese anime trope character archetypes. Localization companies seem so hell bent on removing those aspects of a character and changing the characters into an American archetype that is similar. I know I sure as hell don't want that. I want a translation that keeps as much of the Japanese anime culture present as possible while still having sentences that flow well. A lot of the times I see people try defend the overly liberal translations by saying 'native English people don't talk like that'. The fuck do I care about how actual English people speak. I want to see how the Japanese anime character speaks, but in English.

Aqua's ending is considered canon, but I've never seen it referred to as that from an official source (if anyone has one, please post it here). There's no "One True End" tag on VNDb either.

Ugh... don't remind me. I loved that VN, but the ending was immensely unsatisfying. I hope they make a continuation at some point, so I can get rid of this bitter taste in my mouth.

Don't let facts get in the way of a good story. We haven't licensed anything - as I pointed out just a few posts earlier in this thread. Not the voices, not the game. It's being released by Harukaze via their label of TOKYOTOON, and would've been exactly the same way without us, just with less QA and lacking user support.
That statement's all sorts of amusing on other grounds as well, but oh well.

We're a co-publisher, not "the" publisher; since you already know we only became involved at the very end, it should be pretty obvious we're not making any executive decisions regarding the release. Our main role is in handling English user support, promos, storefront negotiations and what have you.
We are running our own QA for the game as part of the service, but can only report issues and actually implementing changes happens between the developer and the localization company they used for the translation. I want to be very clear about that, since our own standards would be considerably higher when it comes to the end quality (we already need to compromise on the level of things which we report due to not having direct freedom to implement them). IMO the translation itself is decent though, above par for a commercial localization and certainly good enough to enjoy the game.

I haven't done a personal comparison but another person on the staff did and they counted 17 new CGs in this version that aren't in the latest Japanese PC release. Also thanks!

Sure, and I would consider it a borderline disastrous choice of words 99% of the time. It only exists because one person who doesn't like a bokukko archetype made one bad decision and it lives on as a meme.
That's not really an argument for turning onii-chans into dudes, ya know. Hopefully the world will catch on fire when localizing would mean that everyone has to speak like weird american teens like in the ideal world of the guy below.
I kind of missed the moment when delusional and completely inane ineptitude became an ideal localization. You should also try to think about the amazing fact that visual novels, on the contrary to the movies and other pieces of popular media which have a version for every country, are not translated only for the glorious americans, even here at fuwa, when you finally look around for the first time, you'll see that half of the posting users are not even american. Americanizing it as heck just because you have a grandeur delusion (in the extreme version) of what localization is, is basically alienating half of the demographic. Which is really just silly and prideful even if you consider americans your main audience. Heck, not even all localization publishers are american. Honorifics are one thing and can be up to the debate depending on the title and translation team, but everything else should be decided on most sensibly and case by case basis.

VNs are and should be localised for the western world into the common "english", not "murican", for endless logical reasons. Most of NA and EU speak english at least on the most basic level, after all, english language is not an american property. There are phrases that can't be translated as is so it can't really be called a straight-up literal translation but at the same time overbearing cultural arrogance from one of the countries is among the worst things that can happen to the localisation intended for the widest audience, the whole english-speaking world.
But, well, you would definitely win a title for the narrowest understanding of the words, it's so extreme and die-hard that it's almost admirable.
    Probably.
Though his comment history suggests he might be serious. At this point I can only hope he's not. at least Kiriririri is usually trolling

Nier got a reaction from Akshay in It's Official, Almost 1 Year After it's Release Subarashiki Hibi One of the Best VN Ever Made Didn't Sell

Subrashiki Hibi only sold about ~2k copies.
Also there was the confirmation from SCA-DI himself way back then:
Basically Subarashiki Hibi that came out on the 30th August 2017 sold ~4.5k copies less than the All-Ages version of Littler Busters which came out on the 1st November 2017, in any case if it's not obvious it should be mentioned that both are terrible sale numbers.
After this, I don't think that Makura are gonna be too eager to release in the West the definitive version of Subarashiki Hibi anytime soon, nor one of the other best VN ever made, Sakura no Uta.
