ChaosRaven got a reaction from Mr Poltroon in Master Magistrate - Early-Access Review
I was really hyped when I saw that this VN get localized. It'll be a day one buy for me when it's released.
It pretty much combines all the things I like: murder mystery, Japanese history and knight girls.
I was even thinking about reading the Japanese version, but fortunately that won't be necessary anymore.

I have to wonder if someone at Navel has brain parasites... the two series only share a genre, not a style...
Edit: Agobarrier's style was the 'true harem', where the girls are always sort of ok with sharing him but compete for the first slot, lol.  This 'exclusive romance' thing is completely counter to the entire concept of the setting, hahahaha.

I always wanted to play that VN since I own both anime seasons of it, but because of Otomate's PC paranoia the title was only available on consoles for the most time and I only play PC titles.
They seem to have lightened up a bit recently, since the title is now available on Steam. Unfortunately, it's apparently not complete yet, so I'm waiting for the full version.

For Shirogane, the H is very vanilla outside of bad ends. I think this is the case for most of the games, except for Blade x Bullet. (You are a bad guy in that game, lol.) I too got really interested in Blade x Bullet, after I heard that my two favorite artists, (Rubi-Sama and NaeNae,) were working together on it. Holy crap is the art stunning in that game.

Edit: I should note that Last Cavalier is more attractive mainly because it has some really interesting variations on history's flow based on who you save.  In particular, I recommend checking out Sakuma's path and Sakamoto's path, because those two dramatically alter history's flow.  Sakuma was a scientist in the truest sense, and a lot of history speculators think that if he hadn't died so early on, Japan's modernization would have been hurried by at least a decade.  Ryouma, on the other hand, was something of a genius at getting people to agree with one another, and his assassination is said to have been the death of all possibility of a peaceful solution to the problems between the Tokugawa supporters and anti-Shogunate powers.

On the one hand it sounds really interesting, on the other hand I'm shuddering from the thought of what a VN a company like Black Lillith would make out of this story.
But the books seem rather popular - I could get them even in my own language.

ChaosRaven got a reaction from Narcosis in VN element: Slice-of-life
True words. Although I wouldn't call myself a particular fan of slice if life VN's, I do consider slice of life 'scenes' as very important for almost every VN. They are the calm breaks inbetween the action or more serious story parts of a VN, and essential to develop characters and relationships. Ideally, they happen in 'sine waves', iterating between story and slice of life parts. Though there's certainly still a lot to say about how to write actual good slice of life scenes...

Clochette's games are mostly pretty high quality... Amatsu Misora Ni was the only one I didn't enjoy thoroughly.  So, yes I'll be playing it.

ChaosRaven got a reaction from Funnerific in *sighs* more ladder-style complaints
Amusingly, the ladder-style structure reflects real life by far the best. I mean, what's more realistic:
1.) You meet five interesting girls in a disco and you either decide for one of them over the course of a few weeks or you'll be single forever.
2.) You meet an interesting girl in a pub and the situation could have gotten tense, but somehow the chemistry wasn't perfect. But a few months later you meet another girl at work and you're head over heels into her immediately. Then you meet another girl a year ago in holidays on Mallorca, but since you've already decided for the girl at work, nothing came out of it. But if you would have decided against the girl at work before, things might have gone different with the girl in Mallorca.
That's simply life. You just don't meet all interesting people at the same time.

I never concern myself about which routes are canon, which are impossible, etc. I treat all routes exactly the same, whether they're in a typical multi-route moege or if it's g-senjou no maou. It's all fiction, it's all fake, none of it ever feels "real" to me in the context you describe. So I don't get bothered by some routes obviously taking a backseat to others in a game's canon. The only time that bothers me is when it's clear those routes had very little effort put into them and they feel like stub routes.
G-Senjou no Maou's routes were pretty much fine in this regard, they all told somewhat involved and interesting stories, even if the most complicated story was obviously the true route. In Eustia, I've only played the partial patch so I've only read the Fiona route, which was really disappointingly short and uneventful. It's not the fact that the game will move on and progress the story past those points which bothers me, it's the fact that Eustia's routes are just bad which bothers me.

I wish the community would be a bit more tolerant about translation quality of fan translations, or at least offer criticism in a more constructive manner instead of just bashing it. While I never worked on a fan translation, I worked with a few team members on a mod for a computer game for years. So I do know what it's like to work on a huge project in your spare time. And there are times when just hate it and want to pack it all in. And when you then just get some bashing comments instead of encouragement, you really want to scream out...

ChaosRaven reacted to Clephas in Random VNs: Gleam Garden no Shoujo
The protagonist is a good person at heart.  However, these girls aren't living on their own or with their families.  They are living in a semi-prison facility that is made up of living quarters, a mess hall, administrative buildings, a school portion (including a ground for exercise), and the research labs (incidentally, the one CG early on in the research labs is... guro).  While he is a dog of the state, in this case his duty is to see to it that the girls can one day rejoin society, even if it is only in the limited fashion available to Witches.
Edit: Another thing you need to keep in mind is that 'ruthless' doesn't necessarily mean evil.  It just means that he is willing to take actions that are morally reprehensible for the sake of fulfilling a goal.  That describes a lot of people others consider virtuous...
Edit2: Also, he isn't sadistic or unnecessarily cruel.  He is even kind whenever circumstances allow him to be... and to the very limit of what circumstances allow him to be.  He is also essentially fair-minded.  The implant in the girls' ears that can inject suppression drugs or zap them with electricity... he only uses the electricity part once in the entire VN, and then he only does it because drastic measures are necessary, not because he wants to.

Nice to see people looking forward for our translation. I might just add in a little bit of hope for those waiting for a nicely edited version and fully translated version. Since I'm checking the translation on Nao's route(I also translated it), I'll also be checking the translation on the common route and for Sora as well. Then, I might move to doing other routes if the TL would want me to take over their script. As for now, I'll just do my best to finish TLC'ing Nao's route.
    Onee-san route is life!
