So I guess our PHP setup wasn't that "unusual" after all...  Sorry it took that long either way, was out camping and not dealing with Invision's BS.

Probably. Almost certainly over, that is. In any case, the forums software will be running some indexing behind the scenes and things could yet get wonky. If you run into bugs, please speak up in this thread.
There are also several new features to the blog, but I left the list of them back in the United States and will need to recompile it. In the meantime, just assume that everything you like is filled with sparkly updates, and everything you dislike went away. 
EDIT: The visual formatting of the forums are a bit off as well. This has to do with our various forums themes. As soon as I get home tonight, I'll start the laborious process of updating them, and then things should be pretty once more. (Except for Rooke's theme. That one's just crap.)

I disagree, Internet Friend (bonus!) actually feels better to say to me. Either should be fine, though you do have a point in that "online" and "childhood" are both two syllables.

Why can I only give a post one like. If I ever write something in English about beef stew and someone translates it to Japanese, I hope they'd do me the common courtesy of translating my beef stew as "nikujaga" instead of writing "beef stew" in katakana.
Regarding numerals, AP and Chicago (and probably the others) agree that numbers ten and under should almost always be written out, and certainly in this case. I disagree. I think a CG helps paint the initial picture of the scene, then you can use that as a base to let your imagination + the writing do the rest. As the text changes, you still have that initial image of what was going on, and you can now more easily picture the rest of the scene unfolding.
In my opinion, that's what a CG is supposed to do.

Okay, time for some real talk.

I am currently very busy IRL. Something has come up that is keeping me rather occupied, and that will be the case for all of August. I'll spare you the details of what this is, but it's very important to me, and takes priority over my hobbies.

Anyways, because of this, I can't get all that much TL work done on this project during this time. And on top of that, I'm going to Japan in September to study abroad, and will be there for half a year. I am not sure how my internet situation will be over there, and I also don't know how much free time I'll have. So, this obviously means, TL progress will start to slow down. A lot.

Now, this does not mean I'm going to abandon this project. I still plan on finishing this, though as you can probably tell, I can't meet a 2017 deadline, since I'll have my hands full for the next 6 months.

For the moment, my plan is this:

I will do my absolute best to get the Minato route fully TLed before I leave for Japan. Or I will at the very least get it finished after a bit of time in Japan. I only have 2700 lines remaining on that, so it won't require all that much time. I will definitely aim for a 2017 release for Minato's route, at the very least.

After that though, I might have to put off the rest of the routes for a while. If I do happen to have a lot of free time in Japan, I'll definitely start TLing when I'm there. But, my studies comes first, so if I find myself with very little free time, I can't exactly throw away my degree just to get this TL done a little faster.

Which means, worst case scenario, Minato's route comes out, and I'll have to put the project on hiatus until Febuary of 2018, when I get back to Norway again.
 
I don't know what I'll be thinking 6 months from now, but at the moment, I definitely want to finish this project, even if it takes a long time.
I'll keep you updated on how the TL is going throughout of August, and will make one final update before I leave for Japan. (That update will hopefully be me hitting the 100% mark on Minato's route, but I can't make any promises.)

Summary

Kawakami City is famous for its strong dedication to its samurai ancestors. A strong fighting spirit is always valued and it's even an important factor in succeeding in school there.

Yamato, a second year student from Kawakami Highchool is always with his close friends (4 boys and 3 girls). They have known each other since they were young and have done loads of things together. They have many other friends, but this seven people is a close-knit group, they even have a secret base where they meet...

With the new semester, they welcome two girls into their group and shortly after things start to change...
 
Ending Guideline / Suggested Route Order
 
There are 5 main routes, 6 sub-routes and 1 hidden route, as well as a couple of other endings.
Initially you'll be forced to choose one of the 5 main routes. As you finish them more and more sub-routes will open up, and after finishing all of the main routes the hidden route will be unlocked. 
You may play all of these in any order you wish.
 
To get into a route, finish the prologue and you'll get into a choice screen. You get into a route by exhausting all red spheres with any given character. Each time you select a character she will lose a sphere.

Such a sad day and huge loss for the music industry. Linkin Park has been my favorite band since HT first came out back in elementary school, so this is truly crushing.
You will be missed Chester. Plan on solemnly listening to LP for a while. Really in total shock.

Translating hundreds of thousands of words so that he can quote sections here and there is probably the biggest waste of time I've heard of. If that was the reason behind his translation of Cross Channel then I have to congratulate him for inventing such a unique way of wasting years of his life. Normal people would translate the relevant sections within the essay itself instead of producing a separate few hundred thousand word "throw away" translation (which was never meant to be good) solely so he could quote a few thousand words from it xD (and even that number is too many.) That is the very definition of inefficient behaviour (so very much doing it wrong.)
So I would have to question the point on that count. Content and themes can be summarised, select quotes could have been translated within the document.
Secondly and probably more importantly, considering that some of his prose is almost impossible to decipher, I would have to wonder if the translation served any point at all. If you put forth an incompetent translation, then any conclusions or statements drawn from that translation is lost. Words have been improperly used, the style has been butchered, meaning has been lost. Because of this, as an accompanying text to any reasoned argument it's almost pointless.
Nabokov needed no translation accompaniment to Turgenev when he critiqued his work, rather he quoted and explained the relevant points within the text:
 
And when Nabokov did release a translation along with his commentary, it was an exemplary translation (not a throw away one,) because doing anything else would have been an affront to the author (he wanted liberal translators put in the stocks and other stuff. He was very passionate of translation quality ... the zealot.)
To me, the idea that the released translation accompaniment of Cross Channel was "never meant to be good" and "was just an aid" reeks of the excuses used by people who want to dodge criticism of their work. An excuse to sidestep judgement and criticism.

Basically, if what GHS wants to do is write essays then he should stick to writing essays. Translate and quote the relevant passages within the text itself.

Heh, if you read it closely both translators muddled up their metaphors here. A curtain is used for concealment (think theatre curtains) or prettying up a frame (normal curtains,) but here they both use it as a backdrop (not a curtain.)
A common mistake is when people think they want to make writing sound grand by adding more words. That's got little to do with it. Grand writing can be lengthy or brief, rather it's the precision of language use and clarity of images presented which marks grand language. Grand language is precise, and the images conjured tend to be evocative and ... well, make sense. 
Basically GHS needs to practice writing more instead of writing 300 page essays dissecting Cross Channel:
A distant memory shrouded in the mists of time.
Though I could not remember the year or my age,
I remember a grand bedroom befitting one well born.
There were many places one could sit, the canopied bed, the European styled chair,
but I always preferred the floor.
Especially on nights like that.
Through the window, strewn on a blanket of darkness,
twinkled countless specks of light. A twinkling that ended only at the window frame.
And in the glass that separated that world from mine was the image of a young lady.
