voidpointer got a reaction from Vorathiel in Libra of the Vampire Princess - Releasing May 16th, 2017
I hate to play devil's advocate here, but if people are so hard-boiled about English translations and are gonna be super picky, why not just learn Japanese so you can read the original content? I know that seems like an asshole thing to say and I'm not trying to be. However, while it is a slight distraction to see some of the bad translations that Decay pointed out, they don't seem to ruin the enjoyment of the VN as it was intended. When you look at VNs that have tens of thousands of lines of text, and you pick maybe 10 out that are bad, isn't that a bit much?
I've played VNs that have bad translations in them and, while distracting, it didn't really ruin the overall enjoyment factor. I think the frustrating part for me is that it takes a LOT of time to get an English translation and games normally don't get a second translation, so the fact that we have English to read at all should be appreciated. However by that same logic, I also appreciate the counter-argument that it should be done right in the first place.
Note I'm not making excuses for bad translations nor am I saying it's acceptable. I guess I'm just saying we should all calm down a little bit and maybe appreciate that the translation is provided in the first place.

As someone who is learning Japanese, and intends on becoming a professional translator, I don't like this mentality. It is the job of the translator to produce a good translation that pleases the readers, and not a poor translation that is hard to understand, (or worse, one that is straight up incorrect.) People being okay with bad translations means the people who translated said work gets away with it, and more bad translations could surface in the future. If no one speaks up about someone's work being bad, then the translator and the localization company won't learn.
It's okay to criticise translators if their work is sub-par. I know for a fact that my first work wasn't the best, and I use the feedback I got from that as motivation to get better in the future. This should be what all translators tries to do.
So, I think it's important that the community speaks up about something if there is actual issues in a localization. Based on the lines Decay has posted in this thread so far, the translation looks very awkward. I hope the lines are at the very least accurate, (I'll be checking this later when the game comes out,) but even if they are, we should definitely let Mikandi Japan know that their work is in need of some serious editing. If they aren't made aware of the fact that their work isn't that good, they could just keep making sub-par translations for the foreseeable future, which would suck for them and their fans.
With the amount of good localizations that has been released in the past few years, this community should be allowed to have high standards when it comes to translations.

Probably.  No idea how to do it, though.  You could try checking the Data Extraction thread and posting there as well.

TBH this thread has become far more than I wanted it to. While I appreciate the great feedback here on the VN as a recommendation, I do not like the spoilers.

Even if it's not IMHHW-level bad, they still bowdlerized the title quite extensively, and basically said "uncensored release never happening, tough".  If you give these people money, they're going to want to do this to more titles.   It's up to you whether you think that's a good thing or a bad thing.  I remember the bad old days from 20 years ago; I think it's a bad thing, so I'm not supporting this company.

They are what is called non canon H-scenes, which were added in as extra content for those who wants H content in the game. They don't actually change the story at all, so you can skip them. (They were pretty nice, and 2 are animated, so I recommend giving them a read.)
Actually, the scenes are written as if they were meant to be put inside the story, (you'll see they make direct refrences to events, and happen sometime alongside the original "timeline") so they are completely in context, however they are not meant to be in the story, which is why they are added on the side as non canon scenes. It's basically a few small "what if" scenarios.

I'm still playing Supipara; haven't actually gotten that far to be honest. But I recently just played EF before this and I'm having a bit of deja vu

Is it just me or is that Yuuko and Miyako?

I didn't really plan on announcing this so early in time, but after discussing it with my team, we've decided that there's hardly any point in keeping it a secret seeing as how far things have progressed by now. Quite on the contrary, it may even waste time of others who could possibly decide to work on this title. It is also for that we can use the chance to fill the last 1-2 team slots.   Anyhow, that's enough with the foreword. As the title already implies, our team is going to pick up Irotoridori no Sekai. This is not some sort of spontaneous decision, but has been in planning for quite a while. Actually, I've been wanting to translate IroSeka even before I read SakuSaku. The reason I didn't is simply because I wanted to accumulate a game's worth of experience before I tackled this one so that the best possible translation is achieved.   This project will have no impact on the SakuSaku progress whatsoever, all time I'm going to put into this - albeit it won't be all that much until I'm done with SakuSaku - is going to be extra time taken from my free time. SakuSaku translation is estimated to finish within the next two months.   As is customary, I'll start posting weekly updates once I finish SakuSaku Translation. I'll put up a project page as soon as I find the time to do some custom design and stuff.   Game Info

I think that the romance in SnK, while not being the main focus is really well done and cute, it feels natural you know? Also I know this is subjective but I just came to love all the characters.
But as SnK is my second favorite VN of all time besides of saya no uta I will really encourage you to keep playing it, its a feels ride I can promise you that.

voidpointer reacted to Nosebleed in How to replay routes in Hoshizora no Memoria?
Yes, you can. Pretty much all visual novels let you save and load during the choices so you can continue from there next time.
Hoshimemo actually makes the route finding process even easier for you by telling you which choice gives you what character whenever you complete their route.
So for example, if you finish Asuho's route, when you replay the game again, it'll tell you which choices lead you to Asuho's route (there's a little character icon on the choice), so you can pick different choices instead.

Princess Evangile is probably the one I would choose first for romance.Definitely the most romantic out of the ones i've mentioned in my opinion . Majikoi is mainly comedy and then romance. Same thing with My Girlfriend is the President, comedy first. The romance is still strong though for the whole list

As for the Majikoi anime I've only watched a few episodes but I can tell you that the VN is definitely better than the anime to convey the full story as the anime only focuses on one character route IIRC. There is softcore hentai in the anime though if you're interested in that lol but nothing like the VN.

Hm, that kinda works but it wasn't my intention. KS is just really great and it also fits what you want, you got romance, sex, great BGM and art. It got good/neutral/bad ends and it's an OELVN, so it should fit well into your preferences.
