The only two that come to mind currently are Katawa Shoujo and Everlasting Summer, but neither of those is Japanese. The first one is OEL, the second is... Not a lot of people are crazy and motivated enough to put in the amount of work it takes to ship a whole VN and not get paid for it. Assuming you want it not to be utter garbage, of course. But if you really want to free VN ie didn't pay or pirating to get that, it's quite limited indeed and more if you considered non kinetic (Otherwise I'll recommend True Remembrance or 1,000 Lies here). Wouldn't be better for us friends to suggest ones for when he can pay? While he gains his money, he can read Narcissu, free on steam.
