Can somebody explain to me how Grisaia no Kajitsu sequels work?

OK, so my understanding is that the second game let you continue each of the girls routes and then there an MC route.   3 Game fuck all of that and instead choice to pick the first game common route and then pick MC route of the second game. Thus leading to the 3 game.

That my understanding of the games.  Is there anything here that is wrong?  Also, when is Sekai Project releasing the second game?

Also, this is unrelated but does anybody know when this game is getting released in English?  https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mikandijapan/libra-of-the-vampire-princess-visual-novel-english

The second game is actually a prequel story, primarily about the MC's history. It also has some bonus scenes for each of the heroines based on their routes in the first game, but it would be a stretch to call them continuation stories. At least, it's my understanding that they don't have any real substance to them and it's basically just the prequel story + bonus porn.

For the third game, BookwormOtaku is right, it basically assumed that all of the major character dramas for all characters have been resolved by Yuuji, but no romance actually occurred in the process, and takes things from there.

I think all of the answer above should be suffice, but let me elaborate some. For Libra, while Kickstarter and VNDB both listed the release at November, I think it's not 100% certain since there would be some factor that influence the release date in the future ie delay. Although of course I'd really hope there will be no delay for Libra release here.

As for Grisaia, my opinion here may be too subjective since I used any opinion that allow me to save at least 15 GB HDD space (Yes, both of Grisaia sequel was equally had same size as Grisaia no Kajitsu each ie 7 or more GB). Since Decay summarize about Meikyuu quite nicely, I think the case for Meikyuu was equal to Sharin fandisc. I mean back in Sharin fandisc we had some backstory from the major character there, while Conjueror said that looks like Grisaia no Kajitsu adopt Sharin no Kuni storytelling (In Grisaia we had MC past, while in Sharin we had antagonist past). Also in regard of bonus H-Scenes, from what I'd read there's one satisfying one. The scene was involving something like Makina's mom and BDSM thing. The conclusion was I think you could treat Meikyuu as fandisc, and actually Frontwing could just like Sharin before.

As for Rakuen, I couldn't write well about that, but basically it was had many retcon and if we objectively looking about trilogy, it was the same as Galaxy Angel actually (Except in Galaxy Angel we will end with one heroine instead of many heroine like in Grisaia). And once again, I think Kajitsu was already had some nice conlusion if we knew some spoiler from Yuuji past (It's quite easy to search) ie Yuuji settle his traumatic experience by settle with one of five heroine (Lazy writing I knew, but at least it's still conclusive imo). I think that's all I could write about Grisaia, and once again sorry if I couldn't word it well here.

I would advise to play the second and third game in succession. I don't know about how they plan to release this in english, but i would have rage so much if i hadn't already the third game (big cliffanger at the end of the 2nd game).

And as said before, second game is all about MC's past and some h-scene, third game is a follow up of 1st game + yuuji's past (without him entering a relationship).

The central route (the canon story) has the protagonist screwing all the girls and going through most or all the events of their paths in the first one.  The second one contains after-stories for the first game's paths and a 'main path' which recaps the protagonist's past in detail and cuts off on a cliffhanger for the third, which is a kinetic novel that leads to the series ending.

The people above have basically explained it by now.

The second game does containt after routes that connects to the routes from the first game, however these are rather short, and feel a little unrelated to the main route in Meikyuu.

The main route is about Yuuji's past, as well as the present, which is an alternate story where Yuuji never actually picked any one girl. The girls find out about Yuuji's past because of a certain ... event that has made them a little uncertain of who Yuuji actually is. Meanwhile, Yuuji himself is not present that much in the actual present time story.

A big cliffhanger in the present time story leads into the third game.

Rakuen does have a prologue route, which happens before Kajitsu, (it tells the story of how the girls all came to Mihama and ends right before Yuuji enters the school,) but the main route connects to the ending in Meikyuu and ends the series. There is no individual character routes, but instead an overall harem story that is the continuation of the Meikyuu grand route.

If you compare the type of game Kajitsu was to Meikyuu and Rakuen, they are quite different in many ways, an in my opinion Kajitsu is 10x better. That being said, both the new games are very good, and are definitely worth a read.

Lastly, like Decay mentioned, both the new games have a great deal of extra H-content. Basically, fan service for days.

If memory serves, Rakuen implies that both romance and sex still occurred between Yuuji and all the girls.
I was really confused for the whole first half of the game, but then I forgot all about worrying over such details once the stuff of the second half kicked in. xD

Only the after story of Rakuen implies he had sex with the girls if you consider that part of Rakuen's main story - there's only one reference to Meikyuu with the photo booth if I remember correctly.

IMO Meikyuu and Rakuen were really inconsistent from Kajitsu as to what had occurred and what not - it's not bad if you overlook the glaringly obvious details not gluing together.

@Vorathiel If you want my answer, yes kinda sorta. Even I who only read the spoiler about that feel it was quite slightly questionable. Anyway, here's the spoiler from TV Trope and hopefully your android or your laptop still intact. Here's the spoiler from TV Trope, and once again it's quite out of it experience.

Spoiler

Michiru’s other personality is no longer a transplanted personality but rather just another personality she made up on her own. So now she’s no longer able to speak English. Presumably she was just very, very lucky in Kajitsu to be able to guess the exact residence of a person and their exact history regarding the death of their daughter. …And responded to the conversation with telepathy.

Once again feel free to either angry or cursing Fujisaki Ryuuta for retconning Michiru story.

I didn't care about Grisaia, so I'm not angry, I was just curious. And now I'm laughing xD
