It may sound  redundant to say this , but this might end up very similiar with grisaia.

Even the chars look alike. If they change the story of grisaia and keep the same formula (as in the lenght of the common route and the choices and all that stuff),they will end up with this.

Though grisaia was awsome,so if it doesnt look too much alike it will be awsome as well.

I am also looking forward on how frontwing writes a fantasy themed Vn.

So yeah,i am excited ^_^

Protagonist is a kamikaze pilot from WWII...

You know... judging from some of the things FrontWing has done in the past, is there any way the protagonist won't be another soapbox for Japanese jingoism and this time, nationalism?

Yeah, I have to laugh at people wanting VNs to remain niche.  It reminds me of black metal fans who can't stand it when bands make music that doesn't sound like it was recorded in a dumpster and call anyone who becomes popular a sell out.  It should be pretty obvious that the inclusion of explicit sex scenes in a VN is going to limit its potential audience.  Even R rated movies conceal most of the action and generally only give the indication that sex is happening rather than going into fine detail of every action.

I do think that H-scenes fit in some visual novels.  Grisaia is one of them simply because sexuality is core to the VNs structure.  I don't think it needs explicit sex scenes, but I am fine with how they fit in(though some do make me cringe).  Most non-nukige VNs, however, could do just as well or better with a simple boot scene.

^^^^^ Aside from the blonde hair, they look very different. Although tsunderes being blonde is the stereotype... (hence Mitcher bleaching her hair)

Several series on HBO have explicit sexual content, and don't become worse because of it, rather if used well it can become a good part of the plot.

Which ones? I don't think you understand what "explicit" means in this context.

I hope she's a really violent tsundere, and not just a "tsundere actress", like Michiru. Physical violence or avoiding the protagonist, without screaming uselessly every time over nothing... That's how she should be.

No, they are definitely not, not even remotely close. Not to mention that most officially translated eroge aren't mosaiced. And then the extensive text descriptions on top of that? Like, dude, it's literally pornography, you can't describe it any other way. Don't compare 10 seconds of concealed thrusting in Game of Thrones to that.

well they did show the full nude female body in more than 1 occasion.

Also we are not discussing official translations, that was never the point. HBO wasn't referring to a western release, it was just a point I was trying to make, and there is more than enough description in a scene than words need.

Also if that was the point, then the books like the series that GoT(as you mentioned) got based on, have more than enough description about sex, even implying borderline child abuse according to our standards yet it's success, wasn't hindered by it.

So my point still stands that 18+ content isn't inherently bad. You may dislike it, but rejecting that it can be good is, in my opinion, rather naive to say the least.

The introduction of Frontwing's official english website makes me think this game has a very real possibility of releasing in a few years time as it has all the makings of being a game to ride on the success of Grisaia.

Hatsuru Koto Naki Mirai Yori

The game has an all ages version and the adult content is given via a patch after age is verified which sounds remarkably similar to a number of games releasing on steam recently and seems to be hinting that Japanese companies are beginning to see digital sales as a new means forward for their content. There are however a number of other tell tale signs that this game (if it does decent) is likely going to be releasing in english in the eventual future outside of having both an all age and 18+ version.

Fujisaki Ryuuta - scenario writer on this new game also did Common Route, Amane Route, and Makina's Routes in Grisaia series

Kazuya - scenario writer on this new game primarily responsible for Sachi's Route in Grisaia series

Kuwashima  Yoshikadzu - scenario writer for this game primarily responsible for Michiru's Route in Grisaia series

Akio Watanabe - illustrator, character designer, animator for this game and worked on Yumiko, Chizuru, and Michiru designs (among others) in Grisaia series

Fumio - illustrator, character designer, animator for this game and worked on Yuuji, Amane, Seafood, and JB and other designs

Wishful thinking? Maybe...their new website definitely is interesting though as they mention the Pure Girl game and since it has two sequels if Frontwing sticks with trilogies I think this is a very possible adult release they may have planned in the future. Frontwing I think is gun-ho about tapping into the western market but since they are new to it they have to figure it out slowly. Interesting enough but whether we get non mosaic version in the future if Frontwing actually keeps their uncensored copies is interesting to think about.

Personally I wouldn't mind seeing either games released but I imagine it will be a while regardless of whatever they may decide to do.

If so, that'd be awesome. With both Grisaia and Himawari getting licensed, that doesn't sound too farfetched.

I started reading a lot more of these character descriptions on VNDB, and I have to say, this looks really promising. There appears to be a zombie and idol heroine, as well as mermaids, dragons, and dogs. Possible stories might include slavery drama, shape shifting battles, and the like. A lot of room for drama and edgy themes, especially the child soldier elements.

As for the heroines themselves, here are some of the VAs:

Michiru from Grisaia

Asako (Yuuji's master) from Grisaia

Mashiro (!) from Aokana

Not to say that an All Ages release is bad, but personally I don't like the idea of this being an All Ages release with a "planned" 18+ release. If it is planned from basically the start then the story was made with this in mind (even if they don't base a whole route on sex) it's basically like "we're giving you a working 'beta' or 'demo' and we're releasing the full thing later" instead they're calling it All Ages and 18+. In fact I think things like that aren't really good at reeling in the target audience because you're going to get a bunch of 12 year olds who play the all ages version, become obsessed with the game, find out there is pronz in it and then you're going to have an audience littered with young children. Which A) isn't the kind of person who can walk into the store and pick up a physical release of your 18+ games (which is, ahem, most of them) and B ) they're not the people with the money to be funding your company. So I don't see this "larger audience" as a positive, just a neutral, and I still don't see inherent badness in 18+ games.

While MoeNovel likes to think 12-year-olds play long story-driven VNs, I doubt that's actually the case.  The all-ages moniker is just that.  The true target audience is 18-25 year-olds, dipping down to 16 perhaps.  Below that and they'll be driven away by the complex language, mature / abstract themes, and the lack of interactivity.  Companies like Frontwing aren't making all-ages games to appeal to children.  They're making them to appeal to adults and sell their titles through mainstream channels like Steam.

My concern is the exact opposite of your's.  I feel if the game is designed with an all-ages experience in mind that the sexual content will suffer--it won't be well integrated into the plot and it'll be dispensable.

As for hints that the game is more fanservicey than usual, that could indicate they're going after the Sakura Spirit crowd.  If their goal is to make a fanservice game with unlockable adult content, that actually might not be a bad direction.  I could get behind that.  My gripe with many eroge is that there's either way too much sex (which cheapens it) or too little sexual buildup (which makes the sex less satisfying).  Throwing more fanservice into the mix would be an improvement in that regard.

I think you really underestimate the reading ability of teenagers or overestimate the difficulty of visual novels.

Monikers such as "mature" and "fanservicey" are typically targeted at an 15-18 crowd, which could well be what they'll find on Steam and what they're aiming for.

On the other hand it's written by Fujisaki so it'll still probably be typical weird eroge shenanigans.

Fanservice anime is targeted at the teen crowd.  VNs are another matter.  While I don't play mainstream JRPGs these days, especially in Japanese, I have a friend who does and even translates some of them.  He says the text in these games, usually targeted at teens, is considerably easier than VNs.  Your typical NISA game is targeted at a teen audience.  Games like Ikusa Megami Zero are on a completely different level of language and thematic complexity.

Hatsuru was way easier than a lot of Eushully's prose, at least that's my experience with it so far. The flashback scene about the protag's sister was written a lot better though, so we'll have to see when the whole thing happens. Things made for fan-service just don't have the possible depth there for better writing though, it's not what they're trying to do. You can't take a moe VN and then make the writing a lot more difficult, it just doesn't work, the aims conflict.
