  1. The episode was worth it for the Dothraki doing the Spanish Inquisition sketch!

Honestly, I didn't dislike it. With one notable exception: Dorne. Dorne has been a disaster from start to finish.

    Spoiler

At least now that Doran is dead, I don't have to suffer through Alexander Siddig and the showrunners getting one of my favorite book characters so atrociously, horribly wrong.

  2. Oh but "Sorry" had one very particular non-sarcastic use, and I used it (and it has been used by my opponent) when one of us had to go afk for a bit and waste a bit of the other's time, or had to concede from an interesting game because of IRL stuff... I'm gonna miss it for that reason alone.

  3. So in the latest patch Blizzard replaced the "Sorry" emote (apparently because it was used sarcastically) with the brand new "Wow" emote, which is obviously impossible to use sarcastically. Good job, Blizzard. It's bulletproof. I spent several hours tonight trying to use this emote in a way that would imply sarcasm, but I just couldn't. I felt genuine and warm instead.

  4. I'm yet to be fooled by teh internets today. It sorta feels like it's become less about fooling people into believing something and more about doing something wacky and immediately obvious. The "fools" in April Fools' Day are now the clowns, the pranksters themselves, rather than those who fall for the pranks.

  5. I'm gonna say Rin's route in Edelweiss Eiden Fantasia.

But the funniest moment ever was relatively recently in Grisaia. Sadly, it was probably unintentional humor. I was streaming it to one person, and...

    Spoiler

I got to one of the scenes where Yuuji is protecting Yumiko from thugs.

One of those thugs had bandaged hands, and I instantly remarked that he must be masturbating a lot, because that's how sophisticated my fucking sense of humor is.

Then the guy attacked, and the game started playing this awfully weird "fap fap fap" sound effect, which almost made me piss my pants.

Then, at the climax of the fight, Yuuji yelled out "HE'S COMING!" and I had to stop for, like, 5 minutes, because I just couldn't do anything but sob and wheeze uncontrollably.

I know it's not funny in retelling. YA HAD TO BE THERE!(TM)

  6. I liked it, I really did. But on the other hand, I've seen this movie already, many years ago. The entire thing is just two plus hours of squeezing new pegs into old familiar holes. An entertaining and engaging process, to be sure, and I can't wait for the real movie to start. In 2017.

Other than that, I wasn't entirely comfortable with pacing as well. I was fully expecting the search for Luke to take half of the second film, but... nope, there he is.

Also also, I've just seen Oscar Isaac in Show Me a Hero (where he's really, really good), and I barely recognized him.

Also also also, JJ Abrams is finally doing what he's good at in a job that suits his style. Too bad he had to turn Star Trek into Star Wars Lite to get the damn job.*

Also x4, can we all agree that Snoke is an unforgivably godawful name for the Big Bad?

*Actually, come to think of it, Lucas basically tried to do the reverse in the SW prequels. He tried to make them more "trekky" with all the council sessions, politics and trying to give a scientific explanation to the Force. That was also an entirely wrong way to go about it. Star Wars is to Star Trek what religion is to science (no offense meant to either). In SW, everything just works. Nobody explains and nobody should explain the mechanics of the fucking lightsaber or insist that the power of the Force is determined by intracellular organelles with a corny pseudoscientific name (that is in itself a lazy portmanteau of mitochondria and chloroplasts). That's what Trek fans get off on.
