I finished Raging Loop last week. I went in expecting another find the werewolf type game and came out of it realizing I never got to play the game. Yet, I never once realized it until the final credits rolled. Yes, Raging Loop is essentially a kinetic novel. While there are choices that branch, the choices always lead to bad endings that unlock keys for the true ending. There are no character endings, only the true. 

That aside, Raging Loop was an enjoyable read, though perhaps not up there with my all time favorites. The story opens with you, a dude named Haruki riding your motorcycle. You broke up with your girlfriend (yo self insert!) and are just aimlessly riding. You come across a weird village after wrecking and meet a wonderful lady named Chemi who loves to joke about killing you. But she gives you beer and seems to really like you so lets just put that little character quirk on the back burner for the next ten hours or so yeah? Things are going nicely though the villagers do not really trust you since you had crashed in a river where they put their dead. Then, the mists show up and everyone freaks the hell out saying the wolves are coming. Some people get killed and thus begins The Feast, a trial in which the villagers must sus out the wolves and hang them. Various people will have guardians that give them specific powers to aid during the feast. For example, the Crow can check the person who was hung to see if they were human or a wolf. Its your typical fare in this genre except you really do not play the feasts. They are all on a set path that you really do not alter except to get different keys by getting yourself killed from time to time. 



Yes, you will nearly always die. Its a loop. Hence the title. Your goal is to find a way to break the loop and to do so, you must see all of the different endings. Quickly, your goal changes from simply surviving to uncovering every mystery the village has to offer. A nifty feature that this game has is a choice tree. At any time you may jump back to previous choices from any branch you are on to use the keys you gain during routes to unlock new branches. It saves you from having to have a bunch of saves and constantly reload as you just pull up the menu and go to the choice. The choice selection will even show you which keys you need so you can quickly find out where to go with the keys you've gathered. Its nice, but again, this novel is kinetic. You will end up on the true ending simply by playing. Do not fret if you perish. It is a loop. You'll be back.

Well as for that I afraid that Kirari (The name of the villainess character) may not fulfill the kind of villainess character that you're hoping seeing that she's more or less quite tame compared to the villainess in the manga/light novel, in which Rika here looks like more textbook example on the villainess there. So perhaps it might be better to tone down the expectation, although perhaps you may find yourself to like Kirari later on.
I agree that it would be nice if some people can port Aksys otome VN into PC version, although perhaps Idea Factory are far more interested to port their usual RPG instead of trying to port otome VN. Speaking of them, while at least they'll also release Neptunia Sisters vs Sisters on PC later, I'm still waiting for them to finally released Mary Skelter Finale for PC later. By the way I did mention Idea Factory because all of Aksys licensed console otome VNs are produced by them, and yeah the exception of the otome VNs that are available on PC are not ported by Idea Factory.

In reviews it is described as a k-drama-like romcom. So it might be something for those that want more romance in their otome games! It's a breath of fresh air in the localised otome sphere since it's still pretty rare to get romance focused ones.
I'm also curious how I will feel about the k-drama-ness of it all. My sister loves them but I haven't watched much myself.
I also have it on my desk already but it will have to wait until I'm done with Pokemon lol

In today's IndieWorld Switch presentation there were a couple visual novel related announcements among the games they focused on and those were the second episode of Coffee Talk as well as WORLD OF HORROR. This game is an incredibly spooky adventure designed like an old vintage PC title mostly in black and white aesthetic completely inspired by Junji Ito's works. Ysbryd Games were the one's releasing this game to Steam in Early Access. I did play this game a bit and I can vouch for its spooky and uncannyness. You do much more than just reading text here, however, because this is a very complex game with a lot of choices, combat systems, timed choices and puzzles. Really worth a damn!

Today on the 4th of November, Ratalaika Games is publishing the game 7 Days of Rose for several consoles. It's a game made by Cross Game Studios and it looks to be a visual novel with choices. It is Cross Game Studio's first game, it seems. The price is 4.99$/€ across all versions.

I'm also not a big rereader.
I think I only reread one route in Collar x Malice several times. Like right after finishing it the first time. And then again a week after that.
The cause? The worst case of brain worms of my life because of an evil cat bastard man:

The route didn't even manage the landing! The ending had so many things unnecessary things to it that were just why
But nope Shiraishi's character writing and his chemistry with Ichika murdered me like nothing else before!
The good thing was that rereading his route really improved my understanding of him and raised my opinion of the writing even further (except of course the ending).
 

So hyped for some of these. Radiant Tale looks so pretty, Virche Evermore seems like it'll have an interesting plot (Though I hear its pretty dark!!), and Jack Jeanne is something I've been hoping for since I heard about it being released in Japan. Come to me, otome games! 

I'm absolutely baffled, Rina. You're amazing! Consider this credited as part of the next VNTS post. We couldn't have done it remotely as good.
 

I played Agarest War on my phone back in the day and found it underwhelming.
On the other hand, I'm very interested in Death Mark II(prevous one and NG had their issues, but they were fun).

I don't want to set my hopes too high but I would love to get the backstory of the Witch of Ruin. We were told the rough story but I would love to properly see it. And I also want a route for him and frankly don't care how they make it work I just want it lol
Other than that also I saw AU stories (like MC villain AU, what if they got together in a more peaceful scenario AU etc.) and more main story-like stories in other otome fandiscs. Since the writer is the same one for Norn9 we could also expect some more major lore to drop in the fandisc that didn't make the cut for the main game.

Oh, this is a pleasant surprise. I quite enjoyed Even if Tempest so I'm definitely up for a fandisc. It does make me wonder what they can even do for this game outside of the standard set of after stories?

Even if Tempest was just released this year in June and both Japanese and English text were available from day one. It's the first Switch otome game from the company Voltage that isn't a mobile game port.
It was written by Ushio Ayane the scenario writer of Norn9 and Juuzaengi. She has been posting a lot about the game and the characters on her social media accounts as well.

I'm very happy about this! I took the risk and brought it Day 1 and besides some weird crashes I really loved the game! It feels really unique since it tried to implement Ace Attorney and Werewolf-like gameplay. It is also inspired by the current "otome isekai/villianess" trend, but it sidestepped most of the tropes I dislike from that. It was also surprisingly gory/cruel at times.
I guess this means it sold REALLY well if they are announcing a FD after just 4 months lol
Looking forward to seeing Tyril and Anastasia again!

I mean later and crowd. I've got the steam version of Amnesia already. I was excited to hear about the other versions and was wondering if those would come to steam too. I tend to play games way more on the PC than on the switch but if it's exclusive at least it's better than not playing it at all.

I think I will stay with my beloved NetGames for now. I can only recommend them for anyone living in Germany!

I got some of these bundles myself, but having such an abundance of games to play I have not really touched them. I'm planning to do smth like Stream projects or articles where I play like 5-10 of these random games, but so far I didn't get to do it yet. I did have played a lot of these games outside of the bundling context though.

So two years back prior to the whole pandemic thingy that's going on, the website Itch.io initiated a fundraising effort for Racial Justice and Equality. It was over a thousand games, TTRPGs, various content found on Itch, for 5 dollars minimum to raise funds for Black Lives Matter. It raised over eight million dollars.
Then it was Palestinian Aid that got a bundle. That one raised 900k.
Then it just kept happening. More bundles!
All of the "major" bundles so far have been chronicled on a site called Random Bundle Game which can be found here . It lets you sort through genres, tags, you name it, because the bundles themselves do not. They are horribly formatted! There's a guide on how to link the bundle itself so you can just download it form there. 
ANYWAY. I'm here because of visual novels. With all that backstory said and done with, has anyone actually tackled the visual novels found in there?
I've played Serre, two acts of Brassica A Marry Tale, and a chapter of LongStory. though otherwise I haven't quite finished anything else. I know I have my eye on playing Changeling, Errant Kingdom, and Highway Blossoms!

I wish playing Shin's route first didn't bore me to tears. I would be all on this game if it weren't for that. But I'm glad we got an otome fandisc released! I think the only ones I can think of off the bat that had a fandisc released in English would be Code Realize, right? Even in the bishoujo-sphere, it doesn't seem to be that common to get fandiscs released.... So it's a step in the right direction.
