  1. I am very much with Nandemonai here. Even if I blot out all the h scenes I simply cannot find much sense in the story. And the fact that the true route made all others more or less obsolete just added to the frustration. Many disgusting h scenes + an utterly senseless story makes this my worst VN reading experience so far.
  2. I am currently reading this and playing the Steam version. I must say there are quite a few pervy jokes in there and I would not have realized that anything was censored so far. So it will probably be the same in the sequels I guess?
  3. It happens to me, too. I usually try to read only one VN at a time. But sometimes I get distracted by other games that are not VNs. This usually happens when I read VNs that don't appeal to me that much. Then I might have longer breaks (perhaps up to 2 weeks). But in the end I still continue and finish them. I am pretty proud that I finished every VN that I started so far (with one exception but that was because it was in Japanese and I wanted to get better at that language before continuing it). I know that if I started a new exciting VN while reading a pretty boring one then I would probably drop it altogether so I avoid that at all costs. and yeah! Time's always too short!
  4. Really? Actually I am thinking quite the opposite: that the MC is quite obviously overpowered and way above average. Surely, he is weird enough at times that you can easily see why he goes to school with these others strange pupils but other than that I can see nothing average about him. But perhaps I am just not far enough in the game yet.
  5. Well, you review Sakura games and judge them accordingly. Nothing wrong with that And well, what's so wrong about DDLC? Why is everyone hating it so much? I found it quite a successful experiment.
  6. Wouldn't that be @Plk_Lesiak ? When I want to find a good EVN or info about it, I always look up his/her VNDB list
  7. Welcome to the Fuwa forums! As you can see from my name we are kinda like neighbours I haven't read Katawa Shoujo yet but I am sure I will someday. Enjoy your stay here!
  8. I finished the little VN 'This was for you' (a short review of it is here) which I found very charming. Now I have unexpectedly (because it was on sale on Steam) started Grisaia no Kajitsu. I started reading it yesterday and while I have no idea where the story will be going I can already say: finally a cool MC! It's really awesome to see such a proactive MC. So far I am intrigued and looking forward to continue reading tonight. And funny how I started it even though it had been nowhere on my list.
  9. All right, I read it and here is what I think: First of all the most important thing: I found it a very charming little VN. I could feel the love it was made with and I liked the many little details like the email thing and the VN thing or the overlapping images at certain points. The cat bot was really sweet, too Perhaps one thing I found strange: not all voiced parts were fully voiced. There were times when there was text but the voice was missing even though it was still the same person speaking. And yeah, sure, the graphics were not overwhelming and rather simple but they were still good enough and had their own charm. Concluding this little review I am fascinated how - with relatively simple means - this VN manages to create a unique atmosphere that makes it a very nice read. Thank you for sharing
  10. Oh, and also: Is it on purpose that this VN cannot be found on VNDB or was I just too stupid to find it?
  11. Phew! Yesterday I finally finished ChuSinGura46+1 and wow, was that a long one! And while there is no doubt that this VN can be called epic it was also far from perfect. Although many aspects are hard to judge because of one thing - the horrible translation! Now I am really not very strict about translations. If I see little errors here and there I don't mind. But this TL (Steam version) was extremely bad. Most of the times I could imagine what the translator was trying to tell me but there were points where it was just gibberish. I am not a native English-speaker but I am sure it would have been a lot better if I had done some proof-reading. It seems to me like this was translated by someone whose native language is definitely not English. But I will try to still be objective about the game since the translation is not really a part of it. About the story: The VN is about the MC shifting back in time to the timeline where the story of the 47 ronins happens. He lives through that happening 5 times (5 chaptrers) and uncovers a conspiracy surrounding the events. While lots of the events and acting characters are authentic the conspiracy thing is fiction AND of course the 47 ronins being almost exclusively female is also fiction. Other than that many historic details are integrated in the story. The story is usually quite exciting to follow and uncovering the different happenings in the various time loops and getting to know each of the ronins is fun. The sword fights and duels are also well made and well placed, not too many of them so that it never gets boring. But there are also a few moments where the story seems to drag on (for me mainly in the 3rd and 5th chapter). The conclusion of the story is technically well made and fun to read although I still think there are many questions left open and things unexplained (but perhaps it was the bad TL?). In the romance department I have mixed feelings. I played the Steam all ages version and the romance with the heroines (each loop has a different love interest) seemed ok although sometimes the MC seemed extremely dumb (especially in Yasubee's route) while Chikara behaved totally strange in her route (she seems completely different in the other routes). It was also the first time in a VN where I was asking myself if I missed something because of a cut out h scene (4th chapter) as the relationship between the characters seemed quite different afterwards (don't want to spoil who it is ) The cast of characters is HUGE! And they are well drawn and interesting and likable (well, most of them). I really enjoyed the diversity of characters in this game and there are still new characters showing up in the 5th chapter. I liked these 4 characters most: Yasubee: She was the only main heroine I really got into. I liked her honesty and clear principles, but also her cool-headedness when needed and I think her route was the best. Sayo: She was a very sharp and cute character. How she always gets her point across and realizes what's going on is really cool. Well done making such a young character so interesting and enjoyable! Fuwa Kazuemon: A pity she didn't get highlighted more. I found Fuwa a very funny character with her wild manners. Yet, although she seemed so unruly at times she was probably the most loyal character of all. Shimizu Ichigaku: An beautifully drawn character that perfectly fits the role of the villain. I liked her looks, her behavior and also her voice acting. Simply awesome! All that said I wish there would have been a bit more of an epilogue. I was surprised that the game ended where it ended Oh and btw. this is actually a kinetic VN. There is one choice (ha, that was almost shocking ) in the third chapter, but that's it. So, I will be moving on now to read https://watercress.itch.io/this-was-for-you before I start another long-term project!
  12. Ahh, good thing I finished ChuSingura46+1 yesterday, so I can put this in before I start my next big project. Will let you know when I have read it. Thanks for sharing! Btw. I just looked at that NaNoReNo page. I haven't heard of it before but it looks fun!
  13. ya, I am currently near finishing (I think) this, and honestly, this is the worst translation I have ever seen. I usually don't complain about quality of translation but this is so obviously bad that I really couldn't stop shaking my head during some passages (an I am not even a native English speaker!). Although I have the feeling that there were a few translators working on this as some chapters seemed ok while others were completely rubbish. Amazing that it can be sold like that And yeah, I can see how you were struggling with your decision about the MC
  14. How comes you stalled this game even though you liked it so much? And btw. you can also not just rate in whole numbers. If you choose 'Other' you can type in more fitting values (like 7.5, only 1 number after the dot possible but it still helped me a lot)
  15. This looks interesting, and the characters look cool. Good luck with it and keep us updated
  16. Hello and welcome here This is quite an easy-going forum so you should enjoy it. About your VNDB account... do you already have one and don't know how to link it here? Or do you not know how to create one on VNDB?
  17. Well, it's true. All of these tropes have their fans and their haters. The thing is there are so many recurring tropes in nearly every VN that it happens very rarely you will only get those that you are a fan of. But as a VN fan you usually know this is bound to happen, so you just swallow the hate parts and fight through them hoping the good parts make up for it
  18. ya, I realize that people usually like the childhood friend routes. That's probably why they are almost always there. I have been thinking about this for a bit (why I don't like them) and the reasons above are the only ones I could come up with
  19. I usually play my first run of a VN without walkthrough and just make the decisions based on what I would really do. But of course, like that you will usually end up in nowhere. After that I usually use a walkthrough. And in the end in some VNs you will probably never see the true ending without a walkthrough (Root Double *cough* *cough*)
  20. PC because most VNs are for PC and it would somehow feel strange to buy consoles just for VNs. PLUS there is always the chance that a successful VN will eventually get a PC release while it's never (as far as I know) the other way round.
  21. 1) The 'forced' h scenes. And I don't mean scenes where girls are forced to have sex but ones that feel forced and are obiously only there so that the fappers don't lose interest. They are always so story-breaking. The scenes often happen out of nowhere and after it no one mentions it again. 2) Childhood friends: for some reason I don't like childhood friends routes. Probably because the MC is often so incredibly dumb about not realizing the feelings OR because the childhood friend girls are always so nosey and annoying. 3) When extremely obvious questions are not asked! Example (Muv-Luv Extra): 4) All girls falling in love with a loser MC for no reason.
  22. Exactly those 2 were the most touching IMO. And the most hilarious one was the baseball route. OMG I have never laughed so much before when reading a VN
  23. Well, funnily enough I can think of this one. (ChuSinGura) It gives you a very good and detailed idea about the historical happenings concerning the 47 Ronins. A lot of things told there and even the names of them are mostly authentic, you just need to realize that the ronins were not cute girls
  24. You probably misunderstodd me I DID finish Tsukihime... but still I never got into this VN, it was simply a VN that I had to fight hard to finish...
  25. hmm, if someone used this as fap material it would be... well... not very fitting at all. Actually I found it a pretty touching and sad scene. It did not seem like fan service at all. And I am pretty much against fan service because it often disturbs the flow of the story. But this didn't... it isn't even a real h scene (at least not in the Steam version)
