adamstan got a reaction from Seraphim in True Love '95 to be released on Steam on 2019-12-20
Okay, I got it and checked it out quickly.
It seems to be almost direct re-release of 1999 Otaku Publishing version. Script files are byte-for-byte identical, so no translation fixes Initial splash-screen has been changed from "Otaku Publishing" to "Fakku", there is separate exe file for windowed mode, and issues with running on modern Windows systems have been fixed. Manual has been converted from *.hlp format to html, but contents are the same, so you can read, that in order to load the game you have to put CD in the drive etc etc
    It's DRM-free - doesn't require Steam client to play.
There are some leftover saves - almost as if this release was based on some pirate version
Any price higher than the current would have been a rip-off, but for $9, it's passable.

I'm quite surprised that Asuka landed 3rd place - would expect her to be on 2nd. As for others - it's Satouin for me.

The thing with about tsunderes is that if they're not written properly, they can come off as terrible and bitchy characters. In order to create some form of endearment, these types of characters have to either be toned down to only be moderately mean (Kurisu and Rin), have some kind of justification for their behavior (Taiga and Lucia), or show some capacity for kindness (Misaka and Hinagiku).
Although with that being said, I can't really imagine that many prominent tsunderes who don't fit that category, and the ones who don't probably belong to anime that have more issues than just poorly written tsundere characters. When I think back to the tsunderes I came to love, I feel that I can still justify my attachment to them because this is such an effective trope for romance writing when done well. To me, there's something quite spectacular about a girl who puts up a powerful emotional barrier only to have to crumble entirely as soon as they're able to expose their weak side to someone they've fallen in love with. It's something that I feel provides for a compelling relationship that is likely to stick with me for a very long time. Of my top 3 romance stories in otaku media, Lucia's route in Rewrite stands at the top, and the Toradora anime is ranked 3rd.

My ASFOS tools should work with it, unless they updated the engine. PM me the "Rio.arc" and I'll check. If it works, I'll send you my tools.

    Well, I can understand that.
Yeah, I'm aware that I'm the odd one here
For me it depends on VN, and also my approach changed a bit over time. I enjoyed H-scenes in Konosora, but now that I'm reading all-ages JP version I'm also enjoying it very much. After reading four Flight Diary routes I actually don't feel the need to read H version at all - they feel great to me as they are. When I recently revisited Princess Evangile in all-ages version, I also liked it, and when comparing with 18+ version I was actually taken aback a bit by the amount of H-scenes that the Moonstone stuffed in - I didn't remember it like that, some were totally random OTOH while I started with all-ages version of Aokana, I liked the execution of h-scenes in it so much, that I switched to +18 version permanently. So there's that.
BTW - could you point me to the tools that can be used to work on Pulltop's VNs (AdvHD engine)? As I'm close to completing Cruise Sign (and Steam version of Flight Diary in parallel), I'd like to prepare small TL-fix patch for Flight Diary - since the translation is mostly okay, but there are a few (literally few) mistranslated lines in each route sticking out like a sore thumb. They don't harm the story in a big way, since they at most mess up the background details, but still I'd like to fix those (and convert the units back to metric - I hate seeing feet and Farhenheits in non-US setting ).

Nah, it just means that to Stormwolf this route doesn't feel romantic enough without sex scenes. We had pretty heated discussion about it in main ASFOS thread or in the "What are you playing?" (or in both, actually?) - I thought the opposite, for me the route was fine as it was But I'm just a pathethic virgin that knows nothing about romance, so maybe I'm wrong. (I'm apparently one of those people that should have their head examined according to the post you're quoting ) I guess it also depends on your personal worldview - for me sex isn't absolutely necessary thing in  teenage romance, but apparently rest of the world seems to think differently
The best thing to do is to read it for yourself and make your own opinion, I think.
(And actually, the sex is implied even in MoeNovels version, but the amount is reduced - from four scenes to one or two, and of course it fades to black before anything actually happens. I wrote pretty detailed comparison for Hikari's route somewhere in this forum).
EDIT - found that comparison post:
So I might agree that it has kind of more of a "friendship" vibe, but I still think it's okay for high-schoolers' awkward romance.

According to some tweets by KEY, they're going to translate Reflection Blue if translation of original version sells well. Maybe they'll release it as DLC/patch then?

    Just found this on r/vn.

According to Key 20th anniversary stream the translation itself is almost completed and now there's QC, editing and engine work left.
(They should definitely fix those line bre
    aks...)

Actually, I was (and still am) hoping that you could become an editor for this, once I finish current work (meaning re-TL and filling the gaps).
That's okay. I also wasn't entirely satisfied with those smoothed images look, so it wasn't big problem to let them go, but if there's someone who likes them, I see no harm in including them as well as an option

400MB still sounds pretty reasonable. Well, it's still just a loose suggestion from someone who can't contribute anything meaningful to the project. I was just a little bugged out by the fact that the purist position of "changing anything is sacrilege" was the only present in the thread.

Yeah, I guess it would be possible. Main downside is that smoothed images take up to about 10x more space than the original 16 color ones, so it would increase the filesize of the whole package significantly. (Not ten times, since music also takes up significant space, so it would be more like a double - going from ~200MB to ~400MB) But it can be done - luckily I haven't deleted those smoothed versions yet

The last update was really some time ago... Well, the project isn't dead, but going at rather slow pace. However right now I don't have much confidence if I should really be doing it...
Nevertheless, today I had some time, and I made some progress. As for now, today I finished 7th chapter and started 8th. That makes it ~44%.

I'm like that with Ai Kawashima. She is by no means a great singer (on early records and concerts she is often out of tune), but for some reasons I get really emotionally moved by many of her songs.
But she has not only sad ballads Her more uplifting songs also feel genuine to me, and manage to bring smile upon my face.

I was thinking a little bit lately on what I actually find appealing in music above anything else and my conclusion was that its genuine emotion. What really puts me off in idol music and a lot of mainstream pop is that it's completely sterile and industrially-produced. It might be really well-crafted at times, but it's pure plastic – which might sound awfully snobbish/hipster coming from me, but while I might like that kind of music too, I can only truly respect stuff that has some heart in it. This is why I get fascinated by all those singer-songwriter types a lot more even if their output has some major flaws. Majiko is an interesting example, because she's simply not a great singer – I mean, she sings very competently, but has a weak voice and often compensates by shouting excessively, with her voice simply dying out on the middle of it... But damn she shouts her heart out on many of those songs and live performances and it's just... Genuine. And that is IMO really, really hard to fake.
    (She doesn't only shout BTW)

Last Saturday I finished Kanako's route from Cruise Sign/Flight Diary.
It was great, I think I liked it the most from the three new routes (Akari, Hotaru and Kanako). It was the most romance-focused one, but also had some nice comedy. I didn't expect too much from this route, but got very nice surprise. And I guess this route is the source of +17 rating for Cruise Sign It has lots of ichaicha when they finally get together - some intensive kissing scenes, and quite bold bath CG - without towels, would you believe it? Just some steam, water and carefully chosen camera angle to hide what should remain hidden. Original routes and the other two new routes (Akari and Hotaru) look pretty tame by comparison.
Again, Steam version is identical to the Cruise Sign one (including the bath CG ), and also I feel like it has the best translation from the three FD routes I've read so far.
Now I have before- and after- stories left to read.

I recall, I once played an adventure game where you are supposed to trigger some event in one part of the map, then move to some other place, where about 15 minutes after the initial trigger a key to the next puzzle would appear on a wall for very short time. And this type of puzzle repeated several times. I honestly don't have any idea how anyone could even figure it out without a walkthrough.
