Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum and from Canada. I don't typically use forums, but this one appealed to me because fan translations have always played an integral role in my life and have shaped many of my life decisions. I joined because I want to learn more about how fan translators extract, translate, and repackage text files in visual novels. I also want to know how fan translators organize the translation workflow and which tools they typically employ.
Currently, I speak French and English, but I'm also learning Japanese (at a snail's pace) in my spare time, and I hope to help the community translate visual novels into English once I have reached a high enough level of fluency (I'm legit still a complete n00b at the language).
I hope that I can learn from everyone and help out one way or another.

Hi Everyone,
I really can't explain when I started playing VNs (Galaxy Angel is considered a VN according to VNDB), but my first true VN was in 2010.  I've been on and off with VNs ever since and haven't been deeply into until recently as of 2017. I moved to VNs from light novels after being disappointed with how authors choose to end their story (Happened multiple times).
I am not sure how I found this website, but I guess it's the result of browsing too much online. I usually like looking for more information and resources on the VN titles that I have started playing since 2017 and it's always impossible to find. I play a mix of localized and in-localized titles and you can find some of my current lineup on my YouTube channel. 
I would like to increase my intake of VNs, but I'm busy as a student in the teaching credential program. I also need to increase my rate of MIDI production as well.
But anyways, nice to meet you.

Welcome to Fuw0 as some others mentioned it's quite the interesting turn for a Jp native to get into translated vns. That being said I hope you enjoy yourself

P.S.: Clannad is definitely in my "to-read" list....even if I don't really like the artwork in it.

 

I watch only when my family is watching. But this means every day!

I actually have it the same, as I still live with my family, but I don't remember ever turning it on on my own volition. Older people are used to it though. Plus the device itself has its uses when combined with a console or a blue-ray player. I've once even remodeled my living room to set up my PC with the 50 inch TV there, when I was going to be alone for two weeks. Was fun.

I used to watch a lot of TV back in the day.  Usually stuff like the Discovery Channel, because I was a nerd with nothing else to do.  But then, when I began watching anime, I've abandoned the TV ship entirely.  The computer suddenly became an integral part for my anime binging, so in a way, the TV became obsolete to me.

In fact, I'm japanese and played lots of VNs in japanese, then felt kinda I've-read-enough-VNs feeling, but these days I start reading them in english, that gives me quite a new perspective of VNs, so I want to read more!
My all time favorites are tomoyo after (i played 3 times), clannad (2 times), and wonderful everyday.
The day I finished clannad, I rushed into a video games store to get tomoyo after and slim PS2 console... the good old days
I liked story-riched games before but for now my tastes are moege or nukige (currently playing wagamama highspec).
