  1. Gyakuten Saiban's animation is more in regards to movement and putting force behind individual sprites - It's technically animation but functionally it's closer to static sprites with more force behind them. That said putting that type of a style into a romance feels like a poor match.
  2. The large banner up top displaying new releases feels like it's taking attention away from everything else. Move it to a sidebar of some kind and figure out something else to go there, perhaps a newcomer's guide.
  3. At the moment I feel like the front page lacks a purpose. Originally it was for showing off the new translations (Hence the scrolling bar there currently) and giving people a jumping off point with recent stuff to expand upon. But since the torrents are gone that screen space is basically rendered moot. The goal is obviously, to get a passage for a new user to start from and go into the larger world. I'd suggest giving some consideration to providing links to both recent news in the VN industry, and maybe a monthly recommendation of a not-too-expensive VN (Be it Katawa Shoujo or Danganronpa's new steam release depending on sales, etc) in order to give them a jumping off point so they can enter into things. Sales would probably influence this as well, as too high a price raises the barrier to entry. Some support for OELVNs would mean that ones that manage to pass the quality bar have a larger chance of getting noticed as well, even if they don't have to be the absolute highest. Fuwanovel's goal as a whole seems to be shifting towards more official growth, and the front site should serve to feed that growth in both knowledge about Japanese and Original English VNs, in addition to perhaps some sections in case somebody wants to get interested in developing them as well. This would include stuff like resources for individual disciplines (IE You could link to Writing Excuses as a resource despite it not being VN-specific) in addition to stuff about how that discipline relates to VNs as a whole. Once OELVNs start growing as well, Fuwa could try and have some form of interviews on the site as well for those who want a deeper look into what goes into creation as well. There are probably quite a few people who would be interested in that, especially when it comes to comparing the approaches of individuals and groups. These would be both useful resources for those trying to enter into the industry in addition to something the everyman VN-wise or fans of a particular series could be interested in.
  4. From what I know Mangagamer is only ending the keys temporarily while they try to sort out payment issues.
  5. Before I begin I'm going to say that the scripts and writing itself are far more useful than the notes. That said, there seems to be running themes in these that could be used well, both in relation to micro level and macro level. Both seem to be served around relationships and sexual themes, regardless of whether a particular scene focuses on one or the other at any given time. On the micro level, you have characters who seemingly bend the usage of race/gender at will, which serves to cause a change in perspective with regards to the social order of the world. On the macro level you have government systems seeming to dictate order and the nature of people and their relationships, their personalities and who people are and perceive themselves as, where on the other hand you have characters and cultural norms that subvert how people perceive one another with regards to their relationships and sexual development. The only major problem with these I'll note is #5, where such a system would be far too complicated depending on the size of the country (You would have a massive amount of people at once depending on how the culture views marriage, not to mention the travel distance required to just get there could be hell for lower classes.) and beyond that, wouldn't they eventually run out of stones for people to grab? This fits more for a small tribe than a modern civilization. Would fancy government or people or nobles consider themselves above others and take that as a privilege to cheat the system? There is potential here for plot, character and setting all at once - setting with regards to the government goals, their culture and the place they inhabit, setting with regards to the individuals in the government trying to control others and their relationships, in addition to how the civilian people deal and cope with the society they live in, and plot with regards to the events that spring from their reactions to these pressures. Putting such a heavy focus on relationships, sexual or otherwise, gives a setting context to what's normally a heavy character-based thing, and blending aspects together like that is a powerful strength a story can have. This is a piece of advice I base a lot of my thoughts around - work out what your characters want and how they intend to get it, what options are available to them and how their actions develop the plot. Other characters will react to this, usually very emotionally, and this turns into character development that gives them new motivations to develop the plot further until the conflicts are resolved. Keep in mind the range of emotions characters show. Beyond that, their relationship to the government and cultural norms is crucial. How does a nobleman compare with regards to worth as opposed to a five-year old orphan? Would noblemans and government people cheat the system in order to keep others under control? How does the worth system go into effect for infants? Does it depend on what class they're born into for innate 'potential'?
  6. Just picked up the new laptop. Repair people are shits with my old one but at the very least I don't have to share my brother's anymore. Let's hope my VN gets finished this year! :DD
  7. Confession: I've been quoted at least once by the Fuwanovel_txt user, maybe twice if that one near the bottom is actually me.
  8. As someone writing something in English set in Hokkaido, how do you think it'd be best to approach the accent/dialect part? o_O
  9. Since we're already in-development, let's just throw in Typemoon's artist and then we have a full team. Operation, start!
  10. I feel like I should play that. Should I play that? You should play it.
  11. The topic of the movie came up and there's a chance we'll end up seeing it.
  12. I'm sorry, mobile broke my posting screen ;-; Yes Shiko, except she doesn't know what the fourth wall is and I need to convey it in a way that clarifies the 18+ but also gives the narrative context that makes it enjoyable.
  13. Like, the topic came up with the upcoming movie and Google isn't helping. How do I explain who Deadpool is to my mother?
  14. It feels like a case of 'you're on a course for one person's route, but it's still the common route and somehow you managed to swap routes after a date due to a confusion of programming or route mapping in the web of choices. Either that or School days like that one person said, where the protagonist is just a bastard.
  15. To a degree. ^^;; Hope to see you soon o/
  16. This is...honestly quite good. I don't know if it's what we're looking for style-wise, but I'll at least pass it on to the others. Good luck!
  17. I'd say you look friendly. We hope you enjoy your stay!
  18. Confession: There's a decent chance I'll change my avatar to something related to my VN once I actually release it.
  19. Keep working at it, writing tends to get easier as you figure it out. http://www.writingexcuses.com/ This should help
  20. Congratulations! Good luck with everything
  21. If I may, the text is quite hard to read on the theme I'm using. Perhaps some color edits could help? Anyway, good luck with your project!
