  1. That's not how it's supposed to be, I hear time and time again that H-scenes are, by concept, awarded for reading for so long. That said, I understand some games are generic as frak, and otherwise sport interesting scenes, so it's a possibility. Indeed, I would like to see more interesting scenes than what I usually see. But as for me, I need some kind of buildup before the scene to make it somewhat memorable, touching, etc. I need an emotional implication on the scene, otherwise I go for amateur porn, since manga style art doesn't engage me much. I feel great when I bed a heroine I've spent a lot of time with, and had nice scenes with her, so skipping the scenes before and just going to the "quid" kinda kills it for me. Of course, most eroge fail to build a good enough relationship that leads nicely to the H-scene, so I feel frustrated. Another thing I want to comment is that for me the major form of impact of a H-scene is the text and how the scene is narrated, since this is, in fact, a text-based genre. Nekopara's approach is nice and fancy but ultimately superfluous. Edit: sorry I didn't see that the thread is from 2014.
  2. Not sure about Myra's character design, I don't think it's that great (but ponytails hrrmmm), but she's a lovely girl and a good if not great love story.
  3. I'll have to check that tutorial, I saw it (I remember now) but for some reason I ignored it, forgot about it and tried to figure out the game by myself, no luck. Also seems I was using an old version, now the game seems to have a lot more content.
  4. When I played, I didn't really fathom the real way the game works, so you could consider making a tutorial or an in-game help. When I played, I didn't see anything like that, at least. I received instructions, but those should be easily accessible at any time and explained as clearly as possible.
  5. Well Steins;Gate is really hit or miss, but the people who like it like it a lot. Also it doesn't help that it has slow pacing, so you have to use a little patience.
  6. I tried to watch the first episode (which I think is double, Kissanime marked 48 minutes) and called it quits after like 10 minutes, Yoshino killed my interest. Key humour and SoL are stupid and while some works mitigate the urge to kill the cast (i. e. Little Busters), not this time for me. If anything the episode made me want to go back to the Rewrite VN in full force. Maybe I'll even finish it someday. Best thing about Rewrite is philosophyz.
  7. For starters, it's called "Shoujo city" and it hasn't anything to do with shoujo as a genre. So... Of course, "Shoujo" means "young woman", but when I played there was only like 4 girls available and like Nosebleed said, I didn't even get to talk and date them so... Like he said, nice idea but needs a lot of work.
  8. If you allow anime, then check out The Vision of Escaflowne (1996), a totally recommended 26-episode show. It features a full-fledged knight as one of the main characters. All the more interesting, because he's shown to have blemishes and a human side too, he's nowhere near a perfect character. You can also check the Escaflowne manga(s), but I'm afraid they're not nearly as good. I know little about Kanata Kara, only a magazine review back in the day, but it always seemed an interesting manga. Try it.
  9. Free games don't usually feature H scenes. I only know one exception: "Written in the sky" and the writing is terrible and the H scene is ridiculous. You could make associated game searches in Steam though.
  10. Games that would normally cost you and you get by "alternate" means...
  11. Edit: you meant manga. Try the Lodoss mangas, they're filled with knights and D&D-esque things. They're so old you probably haven't noticed them. Also "Eiyuu kishiden" wasn't that good, besides the art. There was also a quite famous (and old) series about a party of adventurers, but I haven't been able to recall its name. It was from the 90s.
  12. You mean actually free to play, as per Steam? Or "free to grab"? The former will be far more difficult. Standard eroge has a lot more variety like Hoshizora no Memoria, Grisaia no Kajitsu, Yume Miru Kusuri, Sharin no Kuni...
  13. It's not just a game, it's an investment of your time, effort and money. Besides, if it's supposed to be funny, then leave the competition and profit outside, and instead have good, clean fun. Jerks are jerks IRL or online, and good people stay good people, too. If you didn't give him the money, he would be entitled to feel angry to you, and with all reason.
  14. Japanese companies like Key and Nitroplus are massively famous, and have legions of able writers waiting in line to work for them. You'd have to go off the scale to prove yourself to them. Besides Japanese companies will picture you as an unrefined gaijin. Also, does your story fit with Japanese mindset and customs? If not, you're better off picking a Western company.
  15. I agree on Grisaia. The anime is a piece of trash. The novel seems to be better, but it shares the same shitty nature. I don't like.
  16. I'll probably bash it to death and back. I'm not even fond of the Rewrite VN, I just find this anime is potentially interesting. However with the terrible precedent of Charlotte (but that was 100% original material) I'm going with zero expectations. I'll drop it without looking back if it turns to be terrible.
  17. A very vague idea, I'd say. Still, you get the CGs (and even the end-of-route songs, if any)
  18. Well, seems like we'll be learning a lot of German in the future. I'd love to know Kurisu's views on the Brexit (Break-shit?)
  19. Simply skip it completely with a guide for choices and you're done. Maybe you meant that, but that's not really cheating. It's... "avoiding the bore". PS: VNs no longer grip me that tightly, so once I've done it for the first time, I'll skip the common route (minus the scenes that pertain to specific characters). Of course, woe to you if your novel doesn't have a skip function.
  20. Privacy? Microsoft isn't gonna do anything about you watching BDSM porn online. The prospect that they're handling your data is unsettling, but no harm will come to you. There is such a thing as laws (even if some people don't really believe in them). Personally, it's better that Microsoft has my data than cybercriminals have it. Also, if you're worried about that, do know that your Internet provider has a complete log of your visited websites, so you make them cry too when you visit some porn site.
  21. Windows 10 retrocompatibility is nigh perfect, at least in my experience (I personally have gotten zero problems). I don't know where all the badmouthing is coming from. This is not the 1990s, and Microsoft has had time to learn better.
  22. To stay (barely) on topic, my point is that the whole gaming industry is in bad shape. How couldn't that be extended to visual novels?
  23. I'm responding to things in the OP, so use it or lose it. Also Rooke seems to be quite the Bioware fan, so stay tuned for a potential fight.
  24. Saying Mass Effect is for storyfags (pardon the term) is laughable. Bioware is at an all-time low on their RPGs, which aren't RPGs anymore. Their latest shitfest, Dragon Age: Inquisition, could be tolerated for the graphics and the mildly interesting storyline (easy aspects to not screw on), but the terrible broken combat and the disingenuous, MMO-like fetch quests kill it all. The dialogues are also... not great, and the dialogue wheel is a bad decision, pretty much killing away the choices. Also, why do you need more than 4 gigs of RAM? To play shit games like Shadow of Mordor?
  25. I wouldn't recommend Rewrite to anyone who isn't up for a lot of boredom. Maybe read it if you skip scenes. Too much stupid filler dialogue in there. I've found it an ordeal to progress through the game, and my first heroine route made me lose faith in the game. Great job, Key.
