  1. Well, not to say that I gave some molestation events in my history, because it was nothing as strong as that, but I do remeber having an uncle, who was a hard worker and always 'traditionaly' tend to kiss, as a greeting, everybody in family. Including me, young kid, my brothers, and basicaly - everybody.
You know, somebody with big, rough hands, strong handgrip, moist lips, reek of booze and cigarettes, etc.
Somebody like this (one of the first images in google images, don't know this guy, I apologize if you're him, and you see this. :P )

    Spoiler

    Kirk+Lacefield.jpg

Diago is 43 years old. And reek of booze. Guy on this picture is 45. Very close. Now a random, attractive 14 year old girl. Flatchested, young, undeveloped.

    Spoiler

Now picture them like this CG.

Creepy as fuck, ain't it? Add to this his creepy, perverted attitude, and here you go - Amamiya Daigo, the Hero.

To add insult to the injury, their relationship was basically

    Spoiler

Stockholm Syndrome. He felt in love with him, because he was the first guy outside of her doctor/father figure and director of whole facility, who was scary to her. She was psychologically forced to live with him and endure his abusive, loud and obnoxious behaviour. And suddenly (literally - 'suddenly'), after few days, with no indication before it, she 'discovered' that she would be lonely without him, so she 'acknowledged' that she loves him.

That was sickening. I have absolutely no possitive thoughts about his character. So scene in spaceshuttle was...yeah, I was glad. Anybody can tell me how it ended in original, h-filled, version of the game?
Also - his relationships with other women were horrible as well.

  2. You have the cause and effect order wrong here. :P

Because it was dragging (maybe because I really dislike that type of 'humour', not once did I laughed in first Episode, and smiled maybe twice) I started to nitpick everything. But when it stopped being 'nothing' and started to presenting interesting plot points and ideas (from around middle of second Episode onwards) I stopped nitpicking and started enjoying (everything except for that pedo). ;)
And I must highlight - my nitpicking here was really a nitpicking. Not like in f.e. Sharin no Kuni or other horrible titles, when everything on every other step was insulting. Himawari is much, much better VN.

And I really do hope that you're right and everything will do come together in the end. So, yeah, Merry Christmas everyone, time for some home-helping before going back to reading. ;)

    1) You're quite the impatient one, aren't you? :makina:

I'll try to clear some of your doubts. There be slight spoilers, of course:

      Reveal hidden contents

    First Chapter:

    • Aries is a designer child. This dwelves into the topics of human enchancement, reprogenetics and transhumanism. Calling her a "dumb animal" would be at least innapropriate. That said, you're far from understanding why was she doing it, why she did it and what actually happened. In fact, you're for one great surprise, but not until you finish the majority of the story.
    • Youichi isn't a complete newbie in programming. He's been doing it as a part of his club duties and it's stated he already spent quite a lot of time on it, as well as rocket engineering. Provided you have the most basic grasp of programming languages, you'll be able to fix any code, if given enough time. Youchi did exactly that and perhaps, had a bit of luck, because the bug itself wasn't complicated at all.
    • Aren't missiles rockets filled with explosives? In fact, every single rocket is a flying explosive.
    • Mostly applied plebothinum. No one cares though, because we have the rule of cool.
    • You can like it or not, but that's how GO wrote it, mostly for comic relief.
    • Why not?
    • Because they can and want to?

    Second chapter:

    • You won't understand it till the end of chapter. Another important bit will come after you read Kagerou Side Story.
    • Maybe because he doesn't actually pose any kind of threat and someone already knows who he is?
    • You will know in time.
    • Again, why not?
    • On Earth?
    • Because all men like porn?
    • Again, you will know why, but not until the very end of the game and partially, at least not until the end of 2048.

It's up to you, whether to dislike Daigo, or not. I found him at least commendable, especially in the english version; doesn't matter he played an idiot from time to time - all people with a similiar spirit are more or less the same.

    1) It seems so...or not. :P I feel like I spend more than 20 hours reading Himawari now (in reality probably 15 tops, I'm right after choice in 2048). Pacing is off, it drags.
    2) Thanks for answers. :) Some of them were just 'because they can'. Like that porn mag. Come on, it's 2048, even now, in 2016 paper magazines, television and stationary phones are pretty much obsolete. Thankfully game got much, much better and started to get interesting. If this keeps up (and less Daigo mood killer please. I can compare him to Kazuna in Cartagra. You have a dark, solemn, melancholic tone and mood and suddenly SHABAM, creepy, perverted, loud and ufunny joke. And then GO through his mouth said to Aqua/reader that she's the moodkiller here. I rage quit at that moment. :P )
    3) Daigo... My, oh my. His relationship with Aqua is really close to stockholm syndrome, and what's worse Daigo is presented as booze and sweat reeking, perverted, 3 times older than Aqua man, who is throwing perverted jokes without end. He did some good things, but still -his relationship with Aqua is disgusting.

Finally found myself time to start Himawari.
Wasn't too impressed with the first part of the game. It wasn't bad per say, but that kind of SoL wasn't really what I was looking for, not to mention I'm not a huge fan of clumsy oblivious characters like Aries. There were some good parts though, mainly Ginga going to wild tangents about whatever loosely scientific popped up in his mind. It started getting better near the end, but if I haven't heard so much praise for the rest of Himawari I probably would have quit somewhere on the way.

But I'm happy that I stuck with it, as come 2048 I felt the like I started playing a completely different game. Suddenly everything became much more interesting from narration to events and characters. I suddenly found myself really enjoying everything I was reading, and not just going through the story waiting for something interesting to happen. Can't wait to see what's waiting for me and from what I've heard I don't think I'll be disappointed!

I just finished 2048 and it has actually sapped me of much of my enthusiasm for it.  The pacing was off, it just went on forever and felt like it would never end. The whole route should have been several hours shorter.  It doesn't help that I never really found

Aqua and Daigo's relationship all that convincing.  I was mostly creeped out by it and found Daigo more pathetic than anything. And the whole moon scenario at the end was a bit much.

Both of you guys, please write more about next chapters you read!

  5. I'm in second 'episode', 2048.

Why there is no logic in this world? How can I care for characters and situations, when whole setting is falling apart?
I admit - Aqua chapter is far, far better than moechapter. Aqua is really... human character, I like her inner monologues very much. BUT.
    Slight spoilers:

    Spoiler

    First chapter:
    - Who the hell gives a little child with animal like brain, responsibility to write a code for spaceshuttle, with 500+ people on it? And without a triple check-out? You get what you deserved idiots - catastrophe. I know she's super smart at coding, but she's still very clumsy child.*
    - How the hell a young amateur programmer, can found an error correct a code for rocket launching in just few hours, if, as he said - he didn't understant this language at all, it was first time he saw it?
    - How the hell they can reshape the armed missle into rocket flying into space?
    - How the hell is that rocket flying few times? Where is the fuell coming from?
    - How the hell did they would be able to even obtain that rocket? If Himawari would be an really over the top exagerated comedy - then fine, but Himawari is down to earth 'ecchi' comedy (which do not work at all, but whatever), so over the top 'stealing missle' sequence was really out of place, and out of logic for this established world.
    - How the hell in 2050 people still use stationary-home-phones?
    - How the hell in 2050 people still watch regular television?

    Second chapter:
    - How the hell and intruder could easily board a spaceship?*
    - How the hell they do not do anything to find him at spacestation for a long days?*
    - Why the hell they gave guns to little girls?*
    - Why the hell guy in his 30s-40s is asking for a CABLE TELEVISION (in 2048!) on SPACESTATION?
    - Where the hell is Internet?
    - Why the hell guy born around 2010+ is smuggling PORN MAG onto spacestation?
    - How the hell I'm supposed to like a guy, who is pinning down on bed little kid, and trying to kiss her, because she looks just like his daughter might looks like?

And that's only from top of my brain, I forgot few things.
Things with * might yet to be explained. I'm hope they will be. Still - it should be one hell of an explanation.
And about that last complaint - I just hope that I'm supposed to dislike him. That it's intentional from GO. If not... oh well.

  6. When will this moe route in Himawari end? I'm around time when they went to school, Aries -> rocket, Ginga -> ring.

It's not very bad, it's just bad. Most of the time, I'm reading through my fingers, with sad facepalm of 'money not well spent'.
Aries is like somehow cute animal. Only eats and making noises. Not much human, let alone 'interesting chracter' about her. And I'm not into pets, so yeah - no points from me Aries, sorry, not sorry.
Asuka is slightly bossy choldhood friend. Bland. Boring. Nothing about her makes me wanna read more.
Ginga. He's fine. He's intersting, he's (sometimes) funny.
Humour here is mellow - when it works I get little smile on my face, when it not works...see start of this paragraph.
Story - not much of it for now. Nothing is happening. Not at all. Absolutely. Which is not a bad thing in intself, nice SoL are sometimes good to read.
    And finally:
Aqua. Unfortunatelly I know about her much more than I needed - I know that she's the main character, that she has the most 'screen time', whole route from her perspective and that she's the most beloved "best grill ever" by many.
But... while not extreme, she's tsunderish, bossy (first interaction with protag was punching him in the guts for 'stress relieving' FFS!), unfunny and also - stupidly clumsy. And (probably) very smart. Which is contradiction in her situation.

For every hanami drinking scene, which was fine and nice, probably the best depiction of drinking party I ever read in VNs, we got 'oniichan' scene, which was painfull to read, especially with that freaking choice, when we got 3 answers, but every one of them was the same incestous unfunny joke. Also - I just love when those fucking.... girls are making protag looks like incestous pedo rapists, and he (or any protag ever) can't say anything to defend himself from those false, degradating, stupid and frustrating accusations.

So yeah. You could probably feel my rage in this rant. But it's not that bad, it's still far from Sharin no Kuni levels (I watched a finalle from Touka route on youtube today. Worst. Piece. Of. Shit. Ever. Written. Nothing in that VN mae any sense.).
After those few hours with Himawari I would give it 6/10, but I know it will get much better and less moe. I just hope it really gets better because for know the worst thing about it is... characters. In character driven VN. Great.

I also don't like art in this. Looks like generic 'moeblob art factory - product #3352'. With ocasionally crooked faces (shy Aries have crossed eyes, bravo). Originall art wasn't much better, but it was slightly better.

EDIT: Did I mention that this is...boring? Like really?
Also - I slowly loosing hope, because writting is not good.
Scene when they were plaing deatrhmatch with toyguns - slight spoilers - protag spilled himawari seeds, Aqua tripped and protag...isntead of shooting her here and now, decided that he must run away. Because reasons. Or rather - for no reason at all. That was stupid and distracting. Little things, but enjoyment of every vn, (or movie), depends on how well it handle those little things. If they're baffling, then they're reader/watcher is disconnected from the story.

  7. Finished Remember11. And what an ending it was! Last two scenes were soooo creepily epic.
I wasn't dissapointed, I figured up what was possible to figure up (without 100%, because I don't like grinding) by myself, and later read 'explanation theories' in the net. Some of them great, some of them shitty. I'm glad that this game ended where it ended. 9.1/10. Much, much better than Ever17. I would even say that R11 is top tier VN, alongside S;G, MLA, I/O, Kara 2, FataMorgana and Majikoi. Love it.

And now, after 10 hours of R11, it's time for some moeblobing with ugly lolis - Himawari. :P  Sunday well spent.

Both sides are, really. IIRC, Satoru's side of it (which must be triggered first) happens on the third day, but I'm not quite sure about that. If you get an ending around the halfway point of Satoru's route that's basically a sequence of really weird and surreal events, that's the one I'm talking about. Trust me, you'll know what I mean when you get it.

    Fourth day. ;)
    And...it wasn't that surreal. :P
I must say that I somehow figured out
    HEAVY SPOILERS. REALLY.

    Spoiler

that it was whole 'area' that was teleported through space time, with only consciousness remain at the same place. I thought of that probably around when Satoru noticed the same Moon position.

and from that point on everything really felt into it's place for me. And I add - this is the first time in vns, when I made a right suggestion about some plot twist, or plot revelations/progressions, when I felt satisfaction instead of let down at how bad that 'twist' was.
What a great title. Nakazawa Takumi is probably the best VN writter I have encounter. (Uchikoshi seems to be shitty though. ;p)

It's time for finish this title. I have a feeling that I wont be dissapointed at lack of ending, that everybody is talking about.

Ikikoi made me feel dead inside, but I really enjoyed the end credits because it was finally over. Does that count?

    I say yes.
Cause I want to say almost same thing about Sharin no Kuni.

    Spoiler

Bad end in Touka route is best ending in this vn. Her mom dead, because everybody is incredibly stupid, and Touka enjoying her life as best as she can. And because she is mindless piece of shit - so not enjoying it very much.

    I love this ending.

Other that this and Grisaia, obviously... Not much. Even in Kara no Shoujo 1

    Spoiler

Mizuhara Touko demise didn't make me happy. It was ... natural.

Deaths in VNs are very rare if you not count bad ends. And bad ends are just stupid add ons imho.

As for that specific translation criticism, creative word use is bad, now? That's not even getting liberal, that's just using something other than the first entry that comes up in Jisho. I actually do disagree with the use of "shitfaced" here, that word seems out of character for Youichi. "Wasted," or "plastered" would have been better, but it's a minor issue. There's nothing wrong with using "cool and hip" words if you think they fit better in the existing script.

No, no, creative use of words it's appreciated. If it fits. And if words like 'shitfaced' fits to the character....I'm then not sure if I want to know this character. ;)

Rest of your post made me worry...but at least now I'm prepared for it, so it will not hurt as much.

  11. I just started to check if everything is working fine. And I must say - first few track in soundtrack are uncomparably better in old versions than jazzy, strange and wacky new ones. Definitelly will be sticking to the old soundtrack.

Also - I saw a few things on twitter that makes me worry, and much less excited about this title. Screens in spoiler, but non spoilery.

    Spoiler

    Terrible premise. Typical 'vn cancer'.
    NNFWe8i.jpg

    Moe crap.
    IDzR7Cp.jpg

Translation with 'hip and cool' words.
    YN5L87Q.jpg

So...yeah. But less hype = better enjoyment if it turns out to be realy great.

Also my friend says that his gut is telling him, that Himawari will turn out just like Sharin no Kuni ("classic, greatest vn ever", which in reality is just an incredible crap), but I refuse to believe him.

  12. Remember11.

I'm after Kokoro route. Took me around 7-10 hours. I liked it. Lot's of greatly lean on mysteries, few nice interesting theories, no definite answers. It's good.
But after that I made a 3,5h long grind thorugh all the bad endings I could get at this time. So 14, or 15. Who the hell said I NEED them? And even worse - that I need them even before I start next route? That was pointless. No new information (only nice new text, was when I was choosing other choices...but not in those 'crucial' for bad endings ones), almost every bad end was something like

    Spoiler

somebody got angry and killed protag/protag dies of freeze

in very short scenes. Sigh. I have only around 3h of reading tonight, and instead of grinding I could be more than a halfway thorugh Satoru route, but no... I 'needed' bad endings, sigh.

  13. Why not whole KiraKira?

I have a little 'something', irk, that puts me off from Noble Works. Same as Da Capo. Can't explain it. Just... no.

Dracu Riot - will read, but after 'our' Fuwa+Oxford Comma team will finish their patch.

My Girlfriend - I saw this vn few times, but never paid any attention to it. I'll read more about it, but I'm pretty hyped, thanks for that recommendation.

Edelweiss - over-the-top humour? I love it. I loved it in both Majikoi and MuvLuvExtra. But I didn't liked the humour of other Override title - Dengeki Stryker. It was never 'laughable' to me, few quick smirks, that's all.

  14. It's actually not a joke.
    No, really.

I'm looking for some 10-30h long charage, in english. You know, funny, simple, fairly 'good' common high school oriented common route, few choices and few routes where you have 'romance' with some girl. Something to read for 30-60 minutes a day, without high need for my attention and focus.

Nothing much right..? There is a craptone of those. Or so I thought. But...I just can't find them.
VNDB wasn't very helpfull (there is no 'charage' tag), all those branching routes, multiple endings, high schools and other simpe tags seems to contradict each other and my search results have 15vns tops, most of them with only partial patches, or really shitty quality (below 6.5 or something like that).

I read Hoshizora no Memoria, Yume Miru Kursui (too drama heavy for my request here), Kanon, Ikinari Anata ni Koishiteiru and Period. And also Grisaia 1 and Muv Luv Extra. And Majikoi. And Katawa. And A Profile.
What else? Clannad is too long and have some 'bigger story', Air the same, Da Capo series I do not want to touch for some unexplained reason... What's left in here?

Edelweiss? That Shinigami-something (with silver haired loli)? Kira*Kira? Symphonic Rain? Are they fit in my request? Are they any good?
