Just look at her. Typical cold, dsitant, silent character right? Well... yes and no.
I read quite a few vns now (translated only) and I must say...that I probably never met a character similiar to Rei.
What I mean by that:
- Silent
- Distant
- Cold
- Uninterested
- Replaying with short asnwers
- Not engaging in any social activities
etc.
Seems quite easy to find a girl like that in vns, right?
No.
The problem is, that when a character have traits as listed above, she is usually also:
- With a resting bitchface
- Angered
- Hidden tsundere
- Yearning for some fun
- Telling people to 'die', when they approach her
etc. Examples of this:Sannomiya Louise Yui, from Root Double
Komachi Tsugumi, from Ever 17
or even Toudou Makoto, from Hanahira
I'm looking for more cold, more distant and more taciturn characters. Closest to what I want are Kiryiu Moeka from Steins;Gate, but she don't have her route and I just don't like her, and Byakuya Rinne from euphoria, but those who read it (I highly recommend!) knows what kind of mindfuckery her route is.
Anybody have any ideas? This should be a route having heroine, not some minor character.

How could I forget about m yfavourite heroine from Muv-Luv Extra, Ayamine Kei? She's almost perfect in the ReiAyanamism. -

SSS is one of the worst system I have ever seen in VNs. You never have ANY idea about what characters are going t odo if you raise their meters, it's coplete bullshit. I recommend playing with walkthrough, but then - you need to alt+tab the game once in every few minutes.
So yeah, RD is a good VN (I think, I only just sterted), but its system is horrible. -
Summer was great. Wish to read more from tht writter. He also wrote Planetarian and it was great as well. But I will not fall as low as to start reading Clannad again for his one route with most airhead and dumb character ever.

And what's why, according to vikings, those things do not exists. So taptaptap as the sound of running paws is a little... strange.

Interesting that you interested with Hakuai (aka Lesbian Nurses) there. To each of their own I suppose if we talk about opinion in regard of Yurirei, although I'd found that it was quite relaxing VN.

I'm reading Aoishiro (finished one route and halted) and 11eyes (reading hard - I want to finish this before I can fastread Deardrops for April Club).
And while I didn't liked many things about 11eyes at the beginning ('comedic duo' was awfull, cast was meh, etc) I absolutely love this title now. It's not something great, but it's really good and it 'clicked' with me so well, that even really bad ero-jokes are not destrying my mood while reading.
Lore is nice, setting is good, story is interesting, and cast...oh my god the cast. Every person is ambiguous, everybody have some interesting backstory that can shed a completly new light on this character (Yukiko FFS! I adroe her! Wven though I usually hate bubbly energetic characters), everybody is in a place that their character development can go completly different places and still be believable.
But what this VN really did great, that almost no other VN has EVER did (yeah, trully - give me even one example)
Mild spoiler about charatcers ahead, nothing about story, or setting. Just in case, spoiler tag.SpoilerYukiko and Takahisa. They have such an amazing chemistry. Incredibly funny comedic duo right from the start. Their relationship is believable, their chemistry is great, there is a foundation for their pairing, it's almost...reall. Both have strange dark past, both have vulgar type of humour, both have loud attitude. They match each other. And it's so good. No VN I read ever have such a great, believable chemistry between characters, that you just can't help yourself and root for them (I'm going for Kukuri ending, but I'm incredibly interested about how Yukiko end will turn out. Probably shitty, cause she and protag are completly not fit to each other).
And I'm not taking about relationship between two of protags friends, which is almost not existent in VNs.
This relationship has much, much better writting, foundations and chemistry than many, many protag x heroine relationships in VNs. It's that great.So yeah, I'm enchanted and lastly spending almost every damn free hour to read that. And it's great.

Oh, and Kindred spirits on the roof is utter, frustrating shit, with hollow characters, dumb, kindergarden-level relationships, 'raburabu till the end of their lives' from first sight, even if they do not know each other names and have nothing in common (no interests, completly different personalities, etc. See spoiler above to how it should have been written), and really cringeworthy writting - like that "rock god" poser girl, which is really terrible, it's like it was written by 55yo white guy in a suit, trying to be hip and cool. (It's probably equally the fault of shitty localisation). VN premise is disgusting with that whole interffering with strangers lives. Homosexuality is presented really hollow. Bam, suddenly girl loves a girl, but ... nothing follows that, even if she's surprised. And protag - she's fine, butt obviously her silent, independent, intelligent and responsible character is going to be broken, because how can she be so mature, there must have been some drama in her life, why she's so silent and why she eats alone, we must fix her! We can't have independent, responsible characters in our VNs (Hoshizora no Memoria comes to mind, and this is really not a good sign). So yeah - avoid that shit, Flowers, or Lesbian Nurses are much, much better yuri vns. -

In common route there was literally 6 people including protagonist + 2 characters that appear very occasionally. I would even say that it was a very small cast. -
Considering that IRL in many cases blood doesn't not appear at all, I'm glad that they didn't went that way. Sometimes blood amout is just... overflowing, it's terrible. People who had suffer from such a big wound inside their sensitive body parts, wouldn't be enjoying their first time at all. And as we all know - female orgasm at first time is mandatory. So a bit of an contradiction here.

...that was an...unexpectedly good story. Shame that h-scenes and typical for vn complete 'whatever' about sex and it's implications, really downgraded the second part of the story (I only read mitchs' post, but I can imagine how it looked like in the vn... especially that
Spoilerrape scene...and then - daiski protag kun.)
But overall - I'm surprised. Ca't wait for BM titles to be transalted, they look georgeous. Especially that vampire one, and THIS ONE.

So how long it actually is? And be detailed, please. (like 5h of common and 4 routes for 4-5h each) I just need to know if one weeknd is enough, or if I should prepare two weekends tostart and finish this.

Yeah, I had that on the beginning of my 'VN journey'. I was engrossed with romance and then BAM, sudden h scene destroyed everything. It's typical for shitty charage. It was jarring first few times, then I stopped reading those.
But still - it's ridiculous, stupid, off putting, immersion breaking, cringe worthy and lazy writting. I could count good written romances with believable buildups for sex scenes in VNs that I read on my fingers. Of one hand.
Visual Novels are really an awesome medium to tell stories and/or romances, but this medium is criminally underused.
But well, who cares about believability and good writting, when you have moe/cute/tsundere/fap-fodder/great prose-no substance/unfunny comedies/pissing lolis/head pats/retarded and-or mentally deranged characters posing as cute and list of what people tend to like in VNs goes on and on. Sigh. -

I don't get the hype for Trinoline. It's not like it's from well known writters and art creators of previous Minori titles. Everybody in this project is fairly new, we don't know nothing about it's quality. Except, of course, that it will have typical for Minori, stunning visual effects and presentations (with ugly moe artstyle of sprites, cgs, etc). But is it enough? -
So, moe-overdose (screw you minori, even Supipara didn't looked that bad) with awful synopsis,
visually interesting looking BL title, with very intriguing looking plot,
and typical moe-pedo-porn.
So... yeah, I'm kinda interested in that BL title, but I'll have to see if I'm able to go through Dramatical Murder first. -
Nice revies, despite final grade, it got me interested and I'll definitely read this.

Well, scars of bad VNs runs deep. Probably will shut up about H, as I did with Sharin no Kuni, and later Grisaia, when I found a new 'great enemy'. CrossChannel seems to be one of the worst shits ever, so maybe I wil lstart babling about that. ;d

Reading Root Double.
I'm near the end of the second, B, route.
Jesus fucking christ, it's such a boring drag. I haven't felt so much repulsion when I start reading VN, since I read Girsaia 1, a year ago.
It's horribly written. Interesting ideas, nice first route, but other than that... horrible pacing, very boring and bland characters, and a lot of shitty, juvenile to the power of X plot progressions. Moe art only adds to that and not helps me get immersed in story at all.
SS system is terrible, and imposible to read without walkthrough. Abundance of boring flashbacks is a really bad story structure. Sometimes bland, and sometimes awfull ost is offputing as well.
Sigh. Still half of this VN before me. And everybody says that C/D routes are even more boring. ... argh. I don't want. But I must. I won't drop this title. Lord, have mercy.
