  1. Well, if E17 was too much for you in that regard, be prepared to be heavily disappointed. Especialy if you're looking for a deep, coherent, massive sf plot elements, deep interesting human/humane characters and/or intersting, engaging story. Himawari have non of this.

    Can't wait for your opinion ;)

  2. Finished Air.

    I really liked it. Summer was awesome, and I was a little dissapointed that plot threads from it was not prolongated into Air, but Air in itself was a nice, self contained story about

    Spoiler

    mother loosing her daughter to dementia

    Yukito and his whole role in that chapter was really unnecessary though.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    And I stalled 11Eyes, because I needed new stimulus. I started Aoishiro. And I like it very much. Interesting cast, with protag-lady, who has slightly complicated character, great art, fantastic music, great thechnical aspects, and intriguing amosphere and story.
    Above all it's all ages and yuri. I'm really hyped up. ^^
  3. It's not like Clannad drags. I just hated every single one person in the cast, and humour was vile, didn't clicked at all with me. I read route of dorm Lady (completly hollow waste of time) and half of Tomoyo route (from all the things I hate, the strict bossy archetypes are the worst).
    But I just came back to Air, and read second route - Kano. And I was really surprised. It had working humour, really pleasant atmosphere and even final with 'Key magic' made sense. Usually it all comes down to some 'ethereal' mumbo jumbo with 'poetic' sentences without much cohesive content. But this time, while all that magic was unexplained, characters were reasonable about this, they were confused and surprised, and text was meaningfull and understandable. This type of 'key magic' I can get into. Usuall type (Minagi route from Air, most of the Kanon routes) is just not for me.
  4. I was reading Steins;Gate 0 and I was so bored that I started...and finished Hanachirasu. And then, I came back and finished S;G 0.
    Hanahcirasu:
    Simple story, but with great setting, awesome, unique protagonist, really good writting and translation (Makoto is awesome!) and really emotionally intense fight scenes. Great depiction of fighting styles, moves and thoughts during battles. After finishin Hanachirasu I came back for a moment to 11eyes, just for a battle scene and I thought that I'm gonna puke, it was such a degradation of quality level in fight scenes. Back to Hanachirasu - Solemn and melancholic atmosphere throughout the entire game is an icing on the cake. I can't get more hyped for Muramasa. Hopefully I will live long enough to read it. Also - 'Joke ends' in second playthrough are absolute garbage, but didn't hit me strong enough to lower my grade for it.
    9.1/10
    And finally my most hyped VN ever, S;G 0.
    And the biggest dissapointment ever, of course.
    High points were really high, cast was great, Maho is now one of my favourite heroines ever. Writting was really good, and events were interesting.
    But. It was filled with fluff and fillers. Boring fillers. 'Straight-from-fandisc' fluffy fillers.
    I read it with suggested by almost everyone order. And after the Vega and Altair ending, rest of the VN was... completly non-engaging. Because I just knew that it's not 'canon', it didn't happened and it's just a simple 'what if'. So non of the (interesting in itself) events made any impact on me. After finishing this it become clear why S;G0 had structure like that, but what I felt while reading was just boredom.
    Also -  there was a 'true ending', which presents a new plot thread...which is contained in some Drama CD, and not in any VN. Great.
    Overall - too much fluff, really bad structure, and bad 'true ending' really dimnishes the experience of this, quite good VN.
    So yeah - Not bad, but really unnecesary and skipable 'fandiscish' sequel to a perfect title. 8/10
    EDIT:
    FWIW, Yukiko gets a lot more interesting when you spend more time with her, but, yeah, I have to agree with most of what you said. Frankly your largely negative opinion of the game is reassuring, since I keep seeing people talk about how great 11eyes is, and I really thought it had a lot of problems, especially in the character department, which is typically an easy win for VNs.
    I agree with ChaosRaven statement as well. Cast is really..mediocre at best. I really was liking this title more than I should at the begining, but now, after Yukiko first fight scene I'm just... burned out for this title. But I will finish this, it's not nearly as bad and repulsive as first 10 hours of Clannad, to which I will never return.
  5. S;G 0 - second part of it is kinda shitty. Whatevs.
    But. Localisation team sucks as well.
    Person A, (let's call him Alfred) is calling Person B (Brian) 'senpai'.
    But, stupid as fuck localisation team choose not to include that at all and instead went for 'Brian'. Just name. So Alfred is speaking 'Brian', while I hear 'senpai' in my earphones.
    Okey, whatever, they're dumb, but I will swallow that. 'Honorifics are bad and all that crap. Nitpick. Go on.
    But wait, there is more.
    Because here comes Person C - Carl. Carl who is 'strange' in some ways. When Carl is speaking to Brian, he's using form 'Brian-san' in earphones and 'Brian' in text. But suddenly, in one occasion, Carl is calling Brian 'senpai'. Exactly like Alfred was doing all the time!
    And here comes great fuss amongst the characters, because that's 'something wrong' and 'weird' and plot thickens.
    Buuut. This time we can see 'senpai' in text. Yet whole this means nothing, because all the time we were seeing 'Brian' coming from Alfred. Not once we have seen 'senpai' appeared on screen. So characters confusion and fuss is completly nonunderstendable for somebody who is not listening to voices.
    Great job localisation team. You sick fucks.
  6. S;G 0... Very mild spoilers ahead.
    Sigh. First part of it, first half (first arc - Altair and Vega ending, etc) was really good. Not mindblowingly great, like S;G, but really, really good, with some fluff and fillers, but also really high 'high points'.
    But other half of the game? I feel like I'm reading not very good fandisc with 'what if' stories. So much stupid fluff, red herrings (It's going to be a drama/action! Tense music! Cryptic messages! Peaople running in panic! ... oh, it's just Faris wanting them to clean up the room), a lot of them, which kills any tension and mood in 'proper' scenes.
    Humour is completly dry, scenes are boring and tends to be overlly 'VNish' (like Cleaning-Sergeant Nae, FFS).
    I haven't finished this yet, still around 8 hours to go (two last endings + true mini end), but I must say this:
    S;G0 feels like completlly unnecessary sequel, with few good/great ideas, few great seqences, one really great character (Maho!), but also filled with so much boring/moe/fluffy sol, that it drags it down really heavy.
    Whole 'Amadeus' plot brings very little to the table of whole S;G story.
    If this will not turn out better in last few hours, I'm gonna give it around 8/10. Only.
    I'm just surprised that nobody I've seen talking about S;G0 noticed diferent writters for two 'story arcs'. I was so baffled by the change of style and quality, that I immediatelly went to vndb, and my fears were confirmed - first arc was written by main S;G writter, other, fandisc-like half is written by two noobs, with not much in their portfolio.
  7. To all of you, SCA-JI fans out here.
    I read Ikinari Anata ni Koishiteru. I know that common was rushed by SCA-ji to just get it done, because there were a lot of production problems.
    But. Common route in Ikikoi have one of the most terrible 'abusing' type of 'tsundere' characters I have ever seen.
    Also - a lot of totally unfunny humour.
    And last thing - it had on absolutely great sequence. When they were 'investigating' school at night - that shit was like straight horror and it was really intense and creepy. I loved it.
    Can I take any parts of that and hype(/unhype) myslef up for Subahibi, or is Ikinari completly and absolutelly uncomparable to Subahibi and vice versa?
  8. 1 hour ago, Fred the Barber said:
    SubaHibi is one of those VNs that's been hyped too much. I've taken enough philosophy classes to know that "philosophical" means different things to most people than it does to me, and I mostly find the thing other people usually mean when they call something "philosophical" to be annoying, so given how often that label is affixed to SubaHibi, I'm leery of it. I'll play it, and I honestly expect I'll enjoy it, but I'm trying to intentionally tank my hopes for it so I can be pleasantly surprised.
    From what I heard - it's much closer to 'philisophy teached in philisophy class' than colloqiual use of that word.
    Anywayz - I'm not very hyped as well. Everybody is prasing that so much, even people who love VNs I loathe, that my 'red warning lamp' is blindingly glowing. [And I read Ikinari, which has a common route written by Sca-Ji, so I have some averse to this guy :x]
    But we'll see. Good to see it actually getting released.
  9. I never got to like Jacopo. Always
    Spoiler
    an asshole, and then in last part - complete moron, twat and cruel scumbag. So I didn't 'bought' his 'love' for Morgana and I do not 'ship' them at all. :P So I'm scepticall about reading their happy days in upcoming fandisc, but at the same time I'm sure it will be great.
    (I'm more worried about upcoming another episodes for Vita, with new graphics, voices and modern setting, but I will probably never read it, cause I'm vita-less, so who cares.)
    But it didn't hold me from giving Fata 9.7/10 and reaching my top 3 favourite VN, just after the whole Muv Luv series and first Kara No Shoujo2.
    Isn't this just lovely?
  10. Kamige, kamige, kamige kamige.
    Now I'm really discouraged. Same shit was all over the web, when Himawari wa supposed to came out in eng.
    PS - For more trivia, Moogy of all people vote this VN 8 which said a lot here. The reason I said this was because Moogy's score for Muv Luv Alternative was 7.1 and Fata Morgana was 5.4 for comparison.
    Yeah, Crescendo 7.8/10, Steins;Gate 7/10, Comyu 7.4/10, main three Grisaias 7.2 and high praises for Sharin no Kuni, for which he edited fan TL, while Umineko 4/10 and MuvLuv 3/10.. So yeah, his oppinion is... completly unrelevant. At least if you're the person who is reading VNs for substance and not style (prose, etc), which seems to be Moogys' thing.
    Anyway - I'm interested. Yuri migh be my personal 'saviour' of VNs. First Flowers was great, I heard a good stuff from my (only one reliable) source about Lesbian Nurses, so I'm looking forward to SeaBed and Shadows of Pygmalion.
    Welp, screw me :komari: .
    Actually, are all the stories in the tips section mainly focusing on the "main characters" (Aries, Aqua, Youichhi, Asuka)?
      Hide contents
    I was hoping that they would talk a bit more about Momiji (the girl from the side routes) because I found her character really ineteresting, and also because the story didn't exactly explain a lot about what happened to her.
    Thanks for the advice though.
    High five, Momiji fan!
    Cliched aside, If this kind of writing doesn't trigger you, then I don't even know what else does.
    Well, interestingly written long sentences, which kinda realistically represents real character thoughts are not a trigger to me. Whats triggering me is this:
