  1. So, I'll give some hints. I though this one would be easy. Morale of this story: three idiots together might fuck up everything. Also includes the guy annoyingly shouting the girl's name like a madman. And the monsters, by the way, like one of the main heroines very much. They loved her even more when the game came out, but it's no longer considered canon.
  2. I want to comment on some things, but I won't since I don't want to accidentally reveal too much. Just a piece of advice: be open-minded, or you will be disappointed.
  3. I think it should be pretty obvious, but I can't remember what vn it's from. Umineko, perhaps? Probably some gameplay VN with dungeon exploration.
  4. Grisaia, obviously. I guess, I can think of an insane interpretation of how Subahibi might fit...
  5. So, I remembered this old thread and decided to make a crazy attempt to revive it. Because, why not? The rules are the same: you describe some VN in a weird way, other people try to guess it. I will start: A dead guy meets a dead girl, and together they watch other dead people suffer a lot. A dead guy passionately wants to meet his love from the past, but she is dead, and everything is a lie. A sociopath trap tries to make friends. He fails. The game where a girl is attacked by monsters and turns into an old man. A guy kills a robot with a voice of a loli. And many of its kids. Enjoy!
  6. Just an interesting trick I found on twitter. It isn't very practical, but looks fun. So, do you know any other interesting tricks like that originating from Japan?
  7. True. By the way, there are hundreds of stories about famous inventions and discoveries that they were first made by some random guy nobody knows about, and later redone/stolen/enhanced by some other guy who decided to publish his discovery or patent his invention, and in the end it's always the second guy who is known as the inventor. Reminds you something about VNs, doesn't it? Though, in reality, making things popular is important. Nobody would care about VNs with multiple-route mystery if they only existed in the 80s.
  8. What's more important, to invent something, or to make it so everybody knows about that invention?
  9. Everything will be explained later, so just keep playing.
  10. Well, between VNs announced so far, I'm definitely waiting for Hapymaher and Fata Morgana fandisk. Also, I'm kind of interested in Sona-Nyl, but I need to read other games in Steampunk series first. Also, this: Really, there are some VNs I bought, like, two years ago and still haven't read. Steam sales are scary.
  11. He doesn't join the team on your first playthrough. And you will most likely lose the game the first time you play it, so don't let it bother you too much. On the other hand, when you replay the game a few times, the characters' stats will get higher, so winning will be easier.
  12. Well, the style of the storytelling changes in the second episode, and they throw in a lot more 'fun' elements, but if you didn't like the first episode to the point you had to stall it, then I'm really not sure whether you should continue reading Umineko. Especially if you didn't even like the characters. By the way, did you read the 'Tea Party' and '???' ? They give a few hints about what a few later episodes are going to become.
  13. I meant, my situation with Clannad is similar to this: And, even though I know that not all routes are adapted, spending 100 hours on an extremely slow-paced VN whose story I already know would be too much for me. I'd rather read some other VNs during that time.
  14. Japanese people sure love Alice in Wonderland. It slightly reminds me of a certain messed up manga by the way.
  15. Stalled: Kagetsu Tooya - My hard drive broke while I was reading it, and I lost all my saves. And rereading it from the beginning would be a bit tiring, so I decided to stall it for indefinite amount of time. Himawari - I was pretty disappointed with Himawari in general, but I still want to give it a second chance, so I'll probably try to read it again at some point. Fate/Hollow Ataraxia - My completionist nature required me to read all the SOL scenes as they appeared. Do I need to say why it quickly became very boring? Rose Guns Days - I read it with a partial patch, but I was never in a correct mood for it after the full patch was released. Mahoutsukai no Yoru - Still waiting for somebody to release a full patch. Steins;Gate - Finished several chapters, but I'd already watched the anime by then, so I decided to wait before I more or less forget about what happened in it. Also, I often play VNs for some time after I install them to check that they actually work, and then leave them unfinished for extended periods of time. Yin-Yang! X-Change Alternative - I'll probably get back to it... At some point... I think... Maybe... Dropped: Clannad - Similar situation to Steins;Gate, but considering the nature and the immense length of this VN, I doubt I'm ever going to finish it. Higanbana - It was simply boring. The worst translated work by Ryukishi so far. Mix Ore - Got the first ending, and I wasn't impressed with this VN in the least. Dropped. Moon. - It was... unique. But also pretty bad at the same time. I'll probably never finish it. One ~Kagayaku Kisetsu e~ - I'd like to experience this VN at some point, but I don't think I'll ever do that.
  16. I'm ill right now and don't want to write long posts, so I'll keep it short. If you are interested in my initial reactions for these VNs, all of them are in "What are you playing" thread. Best VN: Subarashiki Hibi Second Best VN: The House in Fata Morgana Biggest disappointment: Himawari
  17. Well, people are trying to make money with as little initial investment as possible. That's all.
  18. I chose Hello Lady!, Iwaihime and Aiyoku no Eustia.
  19. You might want to look through the older blogs on the main Fuwanovel site. I remember reading quite a lot of information there in the past and. Checking it now, there are interviews with notable fan-translators, and many of them went official later. I heard rumors of something like that happening with the first Muv-luv Alternative translation, but I don't know the details.
  20. Well, I've only played about 20 minutes of it, so you may consider it a blind recommendation, but fault milestone has a pretty unique story for a visual novel, and it's also reasonably short.
  21. Hi! Not sure if it's appropriate thing to say since you aren't new, but welcome to Fuwa!
