  1. Well, I regret my previous post now. I completely forgot that people who haven't read MLA yet might read it. Oh, well. Let me try to convince you that after all things people write you should at least give this series a chance. First of all, I think, you shouldn't trust my and other people's opinions on Muv-Luv Extra too much. It's a comedy, the most relative of all VN genres, and if it didn't work for me, it doesn't mean it won't work for you. There are plenty of people who say they enjoyed it. Also, the current translation is definitely much better than the one I was reading, so you should also take that into account. Just don't go for any of the side routes, at least before you finish the main one. They have some relevant information to Alternative, but it isn't very important, and the only side route I read was simply bad. I'd say, go for the main route first (Sumika+Meya, they divide by the end, but essentially it's the same route), then, if you really feel like it, try one or several of the side routes, then get the second ending of the main route (for a different girl) and then continue with Unlimited. Essentially, you only need to read the main route (and it isn't particularly long), but if you are really bored at some point, I don't really see any problem if you start ctrl-skipping some parts. As for Unlimited, I don't really get most criticism for it. Sure, it's worse than Alternative, but I still enjoyed it. And the ending is pretty good. And Alternative, yes, it's simply that good. Again, I can't guarantee that you'll enjoy it, because there are plenty of people who didn't (and some of them are pretty toxic about it). You say that you enjoy utsuge, and this is definitely a plus, but, again, I can't say anything for sure. But there's a very good reason why it's the highest rated VN on VNDB. I can say it that way: it is simply the most emotional VN I've ever read before. All Key VNs are nothing compared to MLA. They simply make you cry, while MLA makes you come through a range of completely emotions, leaving you completely exhausted in the end. It also gives you an alternate history world with extremely though out history and political situation, and I actually found myself thinking that, yeah, if the world is attacked by aliens at some point, these are the things that could possibly happen. Also, I really don't want to accidentally spoil anything, but I'll say it this way: I loved Extra by the end of Alternative. That's it. And no, I don't' think it matters if you enjoy mecha or not.
  2. Thank you! Actually, I also just ran out of likes, and I'll definitely give you one later.
  3. Well, by a "casual reader" I mean that I don't spend very much time a week reading VNs, at least, not as much as I did in the past. And, yeah, maybe I should've chosen a different word.
  4. Thank you all, people! I definitely should've made this thread a bit sooner. Actually, I wanted to do it at my 100th post, but I thought it was too late. Well, you showed me that it's never too late to make an introduction thread. Why don't you find out it by yourself? I'm still thinking about that, so I'm just going to leave it as it is for now.
  5. Maybe I should’ve waited a bit after the last delayed introduction, but, well, I’m at five hundred posts and I can’t let this milestone pass without celebrating. And, yeah, I’m totally not that late… Like, really, I’m not lying… (I hope they don’t look at my registration date) So, anyway, my name is Dreamysyu (not really) and I’m just another somewhat active member on Fuwanovel who never did his introduction before. In real life I’m an MSc student in Theoretical Physics. I love science, naturally, and some other things, like history and fiction of different kinds, including visual novels, obviously. I live in Moscow, Russia. Well, technically, not in the city itself, but in one of the smaller cities in the agglomeration. On the other hand, it pretty close and I travel there several times every week, so it wouldn’t be much of an overstatement to say that I live there. I’m reading VNs since 2013, but I’m more of a casual reader and don’t really have much free time, so my total number of finished VNs is probably lower than you’d expect it to be from that. Or, at least, I’m totally incapable of using my time more or less efficiently, considering that recently I spend more time browsing this forum than actually reading them. My favorite VNs are Umineko, Muv-Luv Alternative and SubaHibi, followed by Fata Morgana and Tsukihime. And, yeah, considering that at first I used less legal ways to get VNs than I do now, you can probably guess how I originally found this site, but I honestly don’t remember when I discovered the forum. I remember coming here a few times before that, but I started actively lurking here a few months before I created the account in November 2015. I didn’t really post much at first, but recently I feel like the the evil spirits of the Moon possessed me and made me increase my rate of posting from a few posts a month to several post a day. Yeah, that’s literally the most probable explanation for what happened. Or, maybe I’m just bored, you know? So, anyway, that’s it for my introduction! I hope I didn’t bore you. Let’s all get along in the future!
  6. Well, honestly, I'd find it pretty hard to recommend almost any VN, but number one for me might be Muv Luv series, because, no matter how much I like Alternative, I simply can't recommend Extra, and you need to read it to get full experience.
  7. Not a confession, but why am I still here at 3AM?
  8. Correction: you simply have to avoid interactions with the opposite sex. Or whatever one you're attracted to. It should work perfectly well.
  9. I hate to admit it, but... No, I'll simply remain silent!
  10. Well, I simply wanted to write something in this thread, and I started to thing what I should write. I thought: "Well, I kind of always related to tsunderes, since I often behave in more or less in the same way in real life", and your post came with such a good timing that it was simply creepy.
  11. I literally just wanted to confess exactly the same thing.
  12. Oh my god! This thread is so good, and I don't have even nearly enough likes to like all the good posts, lol. My story, on the other hand, is pretty boring: I was always pretty careful not to get caught... well, after I started reading 18+ VNs. Before that, I was actually pretty open about that. I could read Umineko at the university when I had nothing to do, for example. I simply described VNs as "reading games" to people who were interested (and, considering that I was pretty obsessed with Umineko to the point of turning into a complete fanboy, mostly to the people who weren't interested ), and I was pretty sure nobody would care enough to actually look them up and find out about more juicy things. But I was wrong. I'm pretty sure one person did. I guess, you can consider it the most awkward thing that happened to me while reading VNs.
  13. Well, I was waiting for a good milestone. And what could it possibly be? (hint: look slightly to the left)
  14. Hi! Welcome to Fuwanovel! And don't worry, you aren't the only member here with a delayed introduction. I still haven't done mine.
  15. To both of you: Your favorite and least favorite VN protagonists? Also, congrats on reaching this milestone!
  16. You know, yeah, maybe I was being slightly unfair to them. From what I understand, in most cases, it's secondary things where they mess up, not the games themselves (though they really need to organize their working process better and listen to what their fans want). On the other hand, what I really don't like about their reliance on Kickstarters is that due to them, the quality of the result of their work doesn't correlate with the amount of money they get for it. And, considering how many slip ups they make with that, right now I'm personally pretty dubious about backing any of their future works. Especially since they actually started slipping up with things I actually care about.
  17. Actually, I believe, these two points are connected. You don't really have to give a quality release if you already got the money for it through Kickstarter.
  18. VNs themselves don't, but when it comes to fan-tanslation patches, then I almost always check them out. There can be some relevant information there about translation, and some patches aren't very easy to install if you don't know what you're doing.
  19. I was under the impression that they don't post about VNs that don't have all-ages versions on their main account. Everything 18+ goes to denpasoft.
