  1. Personally, I only started liking this route about a year after I actually finished it. I was pretty pissed off with it when I just finished it, but them I somehow learned to appreciate the good parts in it.
  2. Lol, I'd want to see that. At the same time, it might be a good idea not to spoil yourself too much, you know. This thread kind of moved into a pretty dangerous territory.
  3. So, what are your favorite opening movies in the VNs you've already read or want to read? As for me, if I had to pick one opening, I'd choose Steins;Gate 0. It really shows how popular the SG franchise is, because it looks like bigger budget went into this OP's production than some VNs have a a whole. Incidentally, I haven't read S;G0 yet, so I can't say how well it connects to the actual story. There are a lot more openings I like, including the Minori works or Muv-luv Alternative, but I would also want to mention the second opening movie from Hello, Lady!. It looks pretty spoilerous, so watch on your own risk. The reason: I wasn't particularly interested in the title before I've seen this opening, but it looks so intriguing so I was immediately sold out, and now it's one of the top untranslated VNs I want to read.
  4. This is the point where I completely agree with you. (I'd like that post, but I managed to run out of likes for today)
  5. Also, I'm kind of surprised people find the choice in Michiru's choice illogical. In that sense, the choice in Makina's route is much stranger.
  6. Well, sadly, this is a common thing with VNs. For example, I'm still not sure how the choices in Tsukihime work.
  7. I get what the problem with Sachi's bad end is, but what exactly is wrong with Michiru's?
  8. Is he, really? He was kind of lost at first, I think, but I never considered him an idiot. And at the same time, he was pretty competent in Chiru. Well, it's up to interpretation, I suppose. And it's been a while since I read Umineko, so maybe I'm forgetting some stuff. Edit. Not really, it's way too big of a thing to forget. ~~~~~ And, yeah, I forgot about Eden. I got bored of the old one, and I love this picture. Looks a bit too small though.
  9. Well, Shirou from FSN tends to be pretty idiotic sometimes, so I don't think it's what the op wants.
  10. Well, idiot is a way too subjective word. Also, I think there quite a lot of VNs somebody can recommend you, so maybe you should try to specify what genres of VNs you like. Several VNs from my own list which seem to fit: Tokyo Babel (though he has kind of strange common sense, I guess) G-senjou no Maou Umineko no Naku Koro ni Saya no Uta Tsukihime
  11. Haven't finished that yet, so I can't say anything. Well, maybe I oversimplified my position in that post. It's true that some VNs have some sorts of true routes that either connect all the other endings in some sort of multiple route mystery, like most Key works, or just make one ending stand out from all the others in some way, like g-senjou. It's completely natural to say that this ending is true, and all the others are only what-if scenarios. At the same time, it's always a reader's choice how to enjoy fiction. Even an author's intent essentially means nothing. If, for example, I like some route in Clannad more than the true route, I can always consider it like a separate entity from the rest of the game, and enjoy it on its own. This way, it doesn't really matter that this route is connected with some sort of multiple route mystery to the other routes. Apparently, it doesn't exist / didn't happen in the in-game universe? That doesn't matter, fiction that exists in fiction is still fiction, so why not enjoy it as such? If other terms, routes in a VNs always exist for me in some sort of duality: they are at the same time separate stories, which don't depend on each other, and at the same time a part of the story of the whole VN. If the true rote is disappointing in some way, it will probably take away from the VN as a whole, but at the same time, I already enjoyed it as a set of individual routes. At the same time, this all heavily depends on a VN and what it tries to be.
  12. Frontwing? Edit. Sorry for an unfunny joke, but I couldn't stop myself. As for the VN, I'm probably going to read it next. (Like always, my backlog never actually mattered.) I wonder what this rumored ending is and whether I should be afraid of it.
  13. Well, don't VNs like Steins;Gate actually position themselves in Japan as something completely different from the usual eroge? Correct me if I'm wrong, i'm simply reciting things from my memory of something else talking about it, but I think Japanese don't even have a word for 'visual novel', calling them simply as eroge in case they have h-scenes, or as adventure games in case they don't. And, yeah, selling something like SG in a store like that would be pretty stupid.
  14. Actually, I'm not sure about that. Maybe, they are just less vocal. True. Even though I don't particularly care about h-scenes in VNs unless they are actually important to the plot (which is rare), this is the main reason why I don't want Japanese developers to switch to all-ages releases.
  15. Well, I personally loved the meta elements in Umineko, but each to their own, I guess.
  16. Guys, be careful about spoilers, please. Also, this: Because, really, when it comes to fiction, nothing is 'true'. Even if the ending connects the other routes in some ways, it's still just one of the possible endings.
  17. Ah, okay. I can't really remember this ending, so I thought you were talking about the one from UBW.
  18. I think it was in UBW, actually. ~~~~~~ As for me, I would also pick something from FSN, I think. I think, the one I like the most is where (HF spoiler) Also, the very last false choice in Rewrite:
  19. Why won't you read the sequels then?
  20. I'd go for FSN for pretty obvious reasons. The reasons: It's timeless classics. It's pretty good and really popular. As opposed to the other highly rated VNs, it doesn't require any previous experience and doesn't have any obvious drawbacks. And the main reason: it's probably one of the best examples of what the VN genre/medium can do with what it has.
  21. Favorite vn: Umineko Favorite route: Heaven's Feel, I guess? Favorite loli: -> Favorite kyonyuu: - Favorite shota: - Favorite best girl: Rin Tohsaka Favorite art style: Fata Morgana Favorite genre of vn: pseudophilosophical stuff Favorite "dere" type: tsundere Favorite yuri game: Pygmalion, but it's the only one I actually finished so far. Seabed will most likely beat it. Favorite non- canon pairing: idk. Favorite side character: Yuuko Favorite otome game: no experience except for a pretty trashy one. Favorite best boy: - Favorite translation: Grisaia, I guess. Favorite OELVN: DDLC, but it's the only one I actually liked. My experience is pretty limited though. Favorite trap: Riki from LB. Favorite jrpg: don't play them. Favorite waifu: don't get them. Onee-san or imouto: neither. Choosing from the lesser evils, onee-san. Favorite Kemonomimi animal type: human. What?..
  22. And, yeah, probably the only route where I prefer the all-ages version.
