    What is the most important part in a Visual Novel for you?

    For me its the characters.

     

    Of course story is really important, and stuff like art etc. is a big factor as well, but for me it all comes down to the characters in the end. I just wont really be into the story if I don't have any strong connections to the characters.

    I'm able to read a VN if I absolutely love the characters, even if the rest like art, story etc. isn't that great.

    Give me a set of great characters and I'm happy.

    Oh, and I wouldn't turn down a yuri VN just because it has little/no H content. I'm looking for that now, but I woudn't discard reading those later. Actually, I'll probaly pick one of those when I'm done with Umineko. Shorter stories will be much welcome after 100+ hours invested in a single VN.

    Then, Katahane is a good choice once you have finished the shorter stories. It has a moe kind of style to it as well with some of the characters. The art is a little old and a little strange, (tarte's stuff is a little bit odd, but you get used to the art fast.) The story in Katahane is really good, though it starts off very light and a little slowly. The yuri in it is really beautiful, especially during the kurohane story. (The game is in 2 parts, Shirohane and Kurohane.)

    Yes, Sono hanabira and Lillium X Triangle are both very good for yuri with good H-scenes. Lillium X triangle has really nice, moe-ish art style with really adorable chracters.

    Sono Hana, (which has more than 10 translated games, so you have a lot to pick from,) has a good art style with a LOT of H-scenes in each game. I recommend starting with Yuuna x Nanami, which is games 1 and 6.

    Katahane which was suggested above is a really good yuri VN, but its H-scenes are not the primary aspect of it. They also come quite late in the story, (and not all of the game is yuri,) so if you are just looking for good H, Katahane is not the VN you are after.

     

    Lastly, I havent played it yet myself, but not long ago denpasoft lisenced a new yuri VN, https://vndb.org/v15944

    Its short and the art seems nice, so you could give that a try as well.

    Well its still interesting to see people´s thoughts on it. Maybe they still like VNs more, but for different reasons :miyako:

    I´ll add one more reason I like anime. The ecchi scenes are a lot more ... Detailed :illya:

    EDIT: As in different angles etc, unlike just a singular static CG.

    I´ve been watching anime far longer than I´ve been playing VNs, and so anime will always have a special place in my heart.

    That being said, VNs is my favorite meduim of the two.

     

    Just like Clephas said, I really wish some VNs were animated. Anime can do some stuff that VNs just cant, because they have a lot more animation in them. This especially concerns badass fighting scenes in VNs. Like, I love reading the narration and picturing it in my head, but actually seeing it animated in anime makes it soooo enjoyable.

     

    But this is really the only thing anime does "better" than VNs.

    Anime is usually a lot less in depth and so VNs just feels better overall for me, as I get pulled into the story much easier.

     

    I guess short answer: I love both and its hard to compare them, but if I have to choose: VNs. :miyako:

    Body Swapping - After reading Change!: https://vndb.org/v14934, possibly the best body swapping visual novel out there, I actually found myself scavenger hunting for this specific genre. There's not a lot of them but I highly recommend Change! which I already mentioned, Real Imouto ga Iru Ooizumi-kun no Baai: https://vndb.org/v3746, and Maikuro: https://vndb.org/v2699. This genre is always interesting to me seeing a girl turned into a guy and now have to deal with her "cock". Although surprisingly I'm not really into futanaris. 

    Snake/serpent-like girls/Lamias - Something about that tongue and slithering movement that is sexy about them. Although Amira which is a reverse Lamia from Monster Girl Quest is actually the cutest thing ever. 

    Spats - Kazuko from Majikoi awakened my fetish for spats, to the point I like to wear them in real life too! I prefer Spats vs Bloomers as the ideal VN sportwear for girls.

    Hatsusaku also has an average of almost 8.5 with about 350 votes on VNDB for an untranslated VN. That's hardly a rating for a mere 'run of the mill moege' anymore. Sakura no Uta also isn't that much higher with just ~0.4 more and... 250 votes less.
