I'll try to be as correct as possible.

You, tiago-sensei, cannot change the way of thinking of a single-minded person.

(I hope it's correct)

Aha!

Good job. Yes, that would be correct.

You seem to have misinterpreted my post. What I said is that he was trying to make me believe in his single-minded opinion.

So I did the same. I gave him a taste of my single-minded opinion. It was meant as revenge and payback, not to actually be an argumentative post.

Unfortunately, it seems that not catching upon that fact, Cole decided to keep up with the discussion, and I am not one to drop a good conversation.

Yes you are allowing it by telling him where to go you're basicly saying hey call us names and you can have whatever you want

A huge majority of the posts and requests on this thread have gotten what they wanted while also being nice. However, that negative minority is the one which will leave a more lasting impression?

I would be inclined to agree. It did stick out like a sore thumb after all your tart replies.

But when one person gets what he wants by insulting people, it does not mean that is the more efficient way. In fact, there is virtually no advantage to being rude, hence me just not understanding why people would prefer to do so. In fact, you're likely to get more backlash, as he did.

Assuming everyone replied nicely to him, would that encourage this kind of behaviour? Possibly. But it still has no advantage over being nice. In fact, the most advantageous is being terse. "Just get to the point, I have no time for niceties". Insulting someone requires more effort and everything!

...That aside. I have to concede there. He got what he wanted, that is undeniable. He was also rude, that too, is undeniable. It doesn't mean he got one because of the other, but it is irrefutable that is also works, even if it has no advantages.

jeez you say your from Portugal but from the sounds of it your roots likely lie in the French leaders.(not trying to be insulting to the French but you do retreat a lot).

...You lost me here. I understand that you're making use of a stereotype, but what is it you mean when you say I retreat a lot?

the point is pointing this one in the way to go will not get rid of the rest saying screw you to them has a better chance.

With this, I'll have to disagree. Saying screw you is worse than doing what he wants. While doing what he wants could possibly induce more people into acting in the same shameful way, replying to a person like that, foul-tempered as he is, would only spark an argument and corrupt the mood. This particular guy seems to be ignoring us, thankfully.

The best course of action would be to ignore it. And if you deem it necessary, report it.

I'll also mention, again, that self-satisfaction was the motive for that post, or I would've simply ignored him.

I forgot to mention one thing (it's past the time where my brain is working at full power), trolling was one of the factors I mentioned before. Please remember that it's objective is to get a reaction. Usually, aggressive. If you assume what he did was indeed trolling, then insulting him back would hardly be the correct approach to take.

letting people walk all over you is what I meant. I do feel terrible for saying it but I thought it would get my point across a lot better but this seems to have failed so I must apologise to all our French friends. je suis desole.

the reason everyone was negative towards him is because we don't want that stuff here that's all good but right now you're saying that everyone should reply nicely then as you said this will encourage that kind of behaviour. so one person replying nicely is fine but it is only effective if one person does it so therefore you arguing saying that everyone should have been nice is telling us to let them walk all over us, and as a effect of that telling us to encourage the insulting of us and our forum.

HOLD IT!

I apologize, when I said "Assuming" I had meant that that was an hypothetical scenario in the most exaggerated scenario possible. There's no way you stingy people would ever ignore a comment like that on your thread without backlash. I didn't actually mean that was the best scenario. In fact, I specified what I thought was the best scenario afterwards.

As for how this particular situation went, I believe it's one of the best turn of events.

After being insulted a good deal, he got what he wanted, and now he can finally so off.

Oh? That's weird. I would've thought I was plenty assertive.

On the internet people can't really walk all over you, since they can be easily ignored. (I'm also a specialist at ignoring people in person)

nope being assertive would have been "oh yea were fags well have fun trying to read miyako." but you essentially went "oh yea were fags well the place you want is over there sir" and as he leaves yelling "you better run."

I'm part French and I'd take offense to that if I wasn't so cowardly and so busy eating this baguette.  [/obviousjoke]

Here is a list of dokidoki's posts.  Checked them, and for very few of them is he actually replying to anyone.  Most of them are just angry rants presumably caused by the fact that this thread isn't solely a dedicated Miyako translation thread.  Only four of all of his posts on Fuwa could be considered polite, and the other 4 posts were all extremely rude and in this thread.  He's only posted 8 times.

Doesn't assertive mean that the person gives off a confident and strong-willed attitude?

True enough, on retrospect, my attitude was more that of a routine worker just doing his job.

I also like how you very unsubtly dropped the discussion.

Good think Zeno's here to light it up again.

i think the moral is you were more mature but that is not always the right thing to do.

It's fine man, I don't give two shits if people make French jokes around me.  I only make jokes about the nationalities that run in my family, but still, that particular stereotype really isn't all that offensive.  It's about as insulting to me as being called a honky, and I laugh pretty damn hard when people call me a honky.

Looking at that list, I honestly think that it corroborates my argument of him being a frustrated person over this thread having degenerated and the translation being in jeopardy.

Perhaps he checks this site periodically and he didn't yet hear about the new thread. Annoyed and disheartened he vents in here, at us people, possible causes of this whole situation.

Yet another possibility is that he favourited this topic, meaning he didn't even notice when the thread changed it's name.

It's all speculation though. It does give him a tragic background and everything. And it justifies my argument, more importantly.

*ahem* I'll just let it drop. Answering questions and complicating things are my traits. I just did what was natural of me and leave it at that.

Had you expected anything else? I'm always mature and composed.(Don't dig up my dreadfully ooc rant pages back, that thing is horrid)
