Well, MG is full of passionate people who are not driven entirely by profit. It's actually pretty crazy how much of critically acclaimed but business-wise risky titles they localized so far. I just pray they are able to keep it up since most of the stuff I really want to tl is in the pretty risky category too (please buy good games instead of Sakura Spirit, people).

The point is, past is in the past, present is here and we've yet to see the future. It's a common problem with older games; there are either various display issues or the game doesn't work at all. It is NOT possible to crop artwork well enough to fit both 16:9/10 and 4:3/5:4 aspect ratios, you have to chose. The only thing left is preparing a build with art assets for both, but this means almost 2x the size of stored graphics... and a lot of work, including hugeee production costs. It's quite peculiar, but I've rarely seen studios, actually archiving all the production assets, which is mindboogling. Most often, they get lost with time or various copyright/legal issues prevent them from being stored/re-used (especially cases, when you work with freelancers and they aren't working on a plain contract, but more of a contribution). most often, these change with time and aren't able to work on a reneval version anymore, or take their work assets away with them, meaning the chances for a possible redraw/corrections become slim.
I personally find RURUR more interesting and better than Dies or KKK. Why? Dies Irae concerns topics and subjects which are - in fact - truly exotic to most japanese (and us), while KKK is a folklore tale reminiscent of ancient japanese classics and something most western players (not talking about weebs here) will have a hard time getting into. RURUR is basically a semi-hard sci-fi adaptation of The Little Prince, only for adults

With the amount of hype it has, it will be a failure for some people, yes. You can't start playing it by thinking it's the best thing to ever exist (even though I say it is all the time, lol.)
That said, the game is very good. Its biggest strength is how well it's written, in my opinion, though it may also be its cast of antagonists, all of which are very interesting and well done (except, uh, Spinne. He's cool, though.) sometimes you'll even find yourself rooting for them, since Ren is nice, but can be quite boring in comparison.
As for failures, Kasumi's route as a whole is just... Ugh. Why is that thing even there, I have no idea. It's also what most people will play first, and it's complete garbage (ok, maybe not that bad. Still...)
It's also a story with a very large scale, which is something that may contribute to the hype, I guess.

Shit happened during a ley-shifting or whatever you call the teleporting shit we use on Chaldea. We ended up on that island and as the master is a regular human he needs somewhere to sleep and shit. The servants just go full retarded and start suggesting weird stuff for us to build as we gather materials. Scathach basically modified everyone's souls which changed their clothes - to her likings - and classes cuz it's too hot for everyone's usual attires. Saber picked up a water gun from HA and ended up as archer; Mode Red thought water toys were cool so she took out her surfboard which is Arturia's ship that she stole; Kiyo just went lancer for whatever reason; Tamamo picked up a sunshade and "IMA LANCER NOW"; Lesbians decided to switch roles for a change; Marie is just being cute and precious; Martha decided to just act as herself instead of as a Saint so now she punches things until they explode instead of preaching.
 
Basically, Scathach is building everything with her runes while we gather materials for her to build a ship.
