What are you reading? Untranslated edition
Funnerific replied to Funnerific's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I'm reading it right now and it's hardly about music. You should watch the anime for the introductory chapter, it does a lot of things better. -
What are you reading? Untranslated edition
Funnerific replied to Funnerific's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Not sure if this deserves a new thread. https://vndb.org/v18589 https://vndb.org/v17388 https://vndb.org/v19657 Is it the year of sequels? What brought this on? -
https://vndb.org/v13628 My third all-time favorite, actually (considered kusoge in some circles though lol). Just remember to get the 3.01 patch. The protag is definitely not emotionless, but you never see him laughing. Click on my signature to go to the main site which has some amazing BGM playing in the background.

Decay had a point. A bad translation can completely ruin one's experience, then the player can't just wait for a new translation (and retranslations are extremely rare) or play it in Japanese - he's already had it spoiled and his first impression ruined by this very translation. To flat out disregard this point is what constitutes blind worship.
-
What suggests blind worship here is not the words of encouragement, but the reaction to Decay's post.

A warning for September's releases (Tayutama 2)
Funnerific commented on Clephas's blog entry in Clephas' VN home
Tayutama... I've just barely recovered from the trauma of Ameri's last H-scene. Lump of Sugar likes to include both sweet/nice and the oh-god-why type of scenes, some of which can read like rape. That said, route features great use of H for character development. -
The missing tracks are included in the anime OST release. The one you're looking for is called "Impulsive step". P.S. the first season of the anime is pretty good in its own right and introduces some differences to the plot. There's an extremely memorable scene in one of the episodes. If you like ef I definitely recommend you check it out.

VN of the Month: Just letting yall know
Funnerific commented on Clephas's blog entry in Clephas' VN home
While my tastes are completely irreconcilable with yours, I like to read your blog posts for insight and general info on titles. I read a lot of things myself, but have neither the ability nor the will to write reviews or even simple comments intended for other people. One can also be sure that these posts are spoiler-free (at least that's how it appears to be) and don't show CGs which most "spoiler-free" blogs love to slap all over the posts, which is the main reason I avoid them in most cases. -

How could you miss it? Her being a violinist comes up many times throughout the whole game, the protag has a CD of her past performances with young Haru on the cover holding a violin, there's a CG where she tries to play it (and fails), there's just so much.
-
Well it certainly didn't lack impact for me. If there's a reason they didn't show Haru's face it's to give focus to the kid as well as the length of Haru's hair (which is supposedly even longer than it used to be).

VN with voice-acting in a made-up language
Funnerific replied to john 'mr. customer' smith's topic in Recommendations
Any VN where characters "speak" something other than Japanese. -
Translated: Yosuga no Sora (some routes still untranslated) Yukizakura Untranslated: H2O -Footprints in the Sand- Himawari no Kyoukai to Nagai Natsuyasumi Yui no Kotonoha Sakura, Sakimashita (can't really recommend this, but it seems that some people liked it more than I did) You can also search on your own with this tag.
-
Please stop spreading misinformation. Supipara was planned for much more than that, it's a cancelled release in Japan and only part of what did come out has been translated.
-
ef has practically no magic to it and is hardly a fairy tale. You might want to look elsewhere.
-
Lucia: that didn't make sense to me either. It's like the writer started going in one direction, changed it later down the line and forgot to edit the finished parts.

Random VNs: Shunki Gentei Poko a Poko
Funnerific commented on Clephas's blog entry in Clephas' VN home
I like it so far. Good comedy and characters, the story seems nice too. Have to say it feels odd that performance scenes only show the heroines' CGs, when it's supposed to be a quartet. Ai best girl Edit: didn't like the game. Ai was great tho. -
Blame the relic Japanese laws that no one cares to abolish. JP politics aren't known for being progressive.

how do you fix a messed up sleeping schedule?
Funnerific replied to a topic in The Coliseum of Chatter
Ever since I started using f.lux, I haven't been able to live without it. When it's off, the monitor burns my eyes at night, it's the same with phone screens. I'm pretty sure it helps a great deal against eye pain the next day, though I haven't tried "going back" to check.
